Registration Day is coming soon...

Blog entry posted by Triberius, Apr 12, 2012.

Well next Tuesday I get to register for classes. Should be an interesting experience since this is my first time through it. Hopefully I can get a schedule that will let me be flexible enough for my employer to work with me.

You know, I'm well into my 30's now, and the thought of going back to school is equally exciting and terrifying. I went to an Open House and a few other events for prospective students and instantly felt out of place. I was the only person not teaching that was sporting a good quantity of grey hair. I also realized it's been almost 17 years since I sat in a class room, and I caught a glimpse of how little those desks look o_O. I've packed on quite a few pounds since leaving High School back in 1995.

I'm sure I'll do fine though when it comes to academics, it's just the shift in mid set that has me sort of giddy.

So who has been through this any advice?

Its a tough road, just remember that your actually going to have it a bit easier then the younger students because most of your professors aren't going to feel the need to hassle you. The next best thing to remember is to not be that one "old guy" in the class that always talks about how it was in the old days. Other then that it helps if you do your reading thats about it.

Good luck. I'm back in school, myself. Not easy. Worth it? Time will tell.

I recently decided to go back for my BS, so I've been there. Now I'm sitting in classes with people who are much younger than I am, and a Professor who is one year younger than I am.

Getting started is the hard part. Once you get in the groove, though, it's pie. Best of luck!
