Why did I/do I bother?

I come to UOStratics for the player guide much more often than the forums.

Nimuaq, I agree that anyone's hard work for so many years becomes a personal investment and anything critical of that stings. What everyone does to support the UO community regardless of fansite should be recognized and supported. It stung Petra to have Stratics reduced to a 'forum' after the years of updating that was required. I'm sorry anyone took that opportunity to flog UOGuide in the process. I also find it crazy how much I've been nodding along with Woodsman lately I may not be with Stratics anymore but as a player, I can say with all honesty, no one does it better than the fansites that support UO!

Nimuaq, I said, NOT UOGuide. I know this comment didn't originate from anyone actively updating there. I also said we have a good mutual respect. I believe that to be true.
We both produce information to support players, we do it in different ways, which means both are pretty good, but for players who use both together, we are awesome . What got to me wasn't the promotion of UOGuide, but the ignoring, or unawareness of uo.stratics, hehe especially on our own boards!

First off I didn't know UOGuide existed.

Secondly never say never because even though my comment can be false it can also be true. It could of been a loyal UOguide user for all I know. Of course it's all speculation.

Third.I will apologize for my comment to you and any active staff. On the internet some things can't be proven even though I believe you are telling the truth. Opinions may vary but my comment was my opinion.

Fourth, I am here to support Petra or any Stratics staff that richly deserves it. Just as you came and in defence of UOguide staff I was here for Petra.

Finally Stratics is not just forums. There is plenty of information on here to help any player in UO.

And I still think your awesome for standing up for Grimm!

And Petra, don't listen to the naysayers. Stratics would be in trouble without you.

poo, we are nearly at the 15th Anniversary, and this is the time fansites should be pulling together, not taking potshots at one another.

This isn't 2002 when there were dozens of fansites and UO was healthy and hand hundreds of thousands of players posting thousands of messages on forums everyday, this is 2012 when there are a handful of active sites left and most of the content and threads are created by a few dozen people.

UO Guide is one of them, and there are people who are still dedicated to it. It's been around for 6 years now, and it's consistent, unlike other fansites who have been all over the map on consistency and stability and crashes and losing data like some of the sites that are long gone.

If a site like UO Guide ever closes, then I have a feeling it's because UO is not far behind. UO Guide is run by a small group of dedicated people, just like Stratics is, and they'll be there until the end, just like Stratics.

Take Petra and a few others out of the Stratics community, and Stratics would be a ghost town with out-of-date information in short order.

For anybody else who doesn't care about this stuff, it's bad enough the UO team has stopped talking to the community at large, this is not the time to be sowing discord among fansites. The UO community is way too small for this kind of stuff.

Petra, you do know I've spent the last three years updating uoguide, I have more than 9k edits there which I tried to bring it up to date and further improve it, and I'm just a volunteer like you. Have I totally wasted my three years trying to update the game information for the benefit of fellow players? Should I stop updating it after these comments:

to make it even better, Airmid liked this, yeah, let us all hope uoguide will drop off the earth, shame on uoguide! Should I stop bothering to update it now? This is a strange case of some stratics mods, Frarc recently posted that I "somehow" claimed stratics copies uoguide, and knowing the number of articles I've cleared in uoguide just because they're directly copied from stratics, there is no way I can claim such a thing. I hope they were just trying to make you feel better.

No, I don't think I will stop updating it, at least not for these comments. Do you know how many times I've read the text "uoguide sucks"?

And here's to make you feel better, most freeshard people think stratics is the official playguide while uoguide is full of wrong information, it is that good, so no you haven't wasted your time (if by wasting your time you mean creating one of the best MMORPG guides in history) and you shouldn't ask if you should stop updating it either, cause every time you do, I start to read pretty hurtful comments myself .

I do not even have a link/shortcut to any other gaming site. If Stratics does not have the answer... it will as soon as I mention it.

oki, I'm all cheered up and will endeavour to just feel pity for anyone who doesn't realise there's more to UO Stratics than the forums and is missing out on the awesomeness that is the UOSS portal - Though how the heck they can miss all the links I put to it on the boards I'm not sure
