Any chance we will be able to Cut up peoples Bodies again for Body Parts?

I miss being able to do this and was just wondering if this function will ever be re-introduced to the game?

(Being able to cut up a players body to get a head, 2 legs, 2 arms, and a torso with the players name on each piece)

Ultima Online is a teen rated game by the Entertainment Software Rating Board.

The ability to cut up bodys was removed due to the complaints by I beleave the English governtment, They havea strong adversion to it and was complained about. IDK if it was factual or no but soon after it was removed I remember reading this on a web page, not sure if it was here or not.

It never should have been taken out to begin with but there were probably compaints from one or two moms and then it spoiled it for everyone. The way UO looks right now I doubt any teens will be signing up to begin with. The game needs a major facelift in order to attract new players so what's the point....

I still have a few heads stuffed in one of my duffel bags. It should be allowed in Felucca to cut up bodies and do what you will with the parts. What other game allows you to do that?

It was the equivalant of Indian scalping back in the day. A Head of "so so" reminds me of the best days of UO.

I think you're confused my little obiwon kenobi... The fact that we can't cut up bodies for body parts right now is a reason why it shouldn't be rated "T" for Teen. You are learning slow but steady my young jedi.

Right on brother, or sister... I agree with you there. Being able to cut up bodies and deliver them to players paying for a bounty for the head of a certain individual was nothing less then fun.

there was that post a while ago that said this was coming back. but you had to be legendary witchdoctor, and do the invisible swordsman quest.

Well I know it was some european country...... They complaind big time to EA and threatened to stop UO from being used there. It's been a long time so my memory is fuzzy over exactly who too. OH btw IF anyone has a head in their collection by the name Lord Dustmonger I am offering a huge reward for his safe return to my hands... he was head naped! He is greatly missed by this lady, home is not the same without him on his pillow.

It should be allowed in Felucca and if you don't like it stay the hell out of Felucca. Virtually anything should go in Felucca. If you want Teen rated stay in Trammel. If you want some kickass features that some consider controversial then let it happen in Felucca.

A head, spleen, or coagulated leg of {enter name here] is okay but a head of "John Doe" isn't....

When you think about it though I mean back in the rennaisance era i'm sure it happened all the time. Sort of, like a daily routine for people to cut off heads. I guess though there weren't hiryus, shadow wyrms, white wyrms, and all that back then though either lol (or was there ).

I can buy an orc ship with impaled heads and body parts. I can collect severed ears, brains, body parts eaten by monsters ect. I can get blown to heck and back with blackrock and have my body strewn acrossed the land. However its not ok to cut the head off a dead player? Seems logical to me!

In the REALLY old days you could chop someone up and cook them into jerky.

Way back when I had a tailor that a friend liked to kill repeatedly, playfully but to the point of griefing. One day a head of mine appeared nearby while I was at my favorite leather farming spot. And then another body part. And another. I followed the trail and it led me right back to my cabin, which was newly placed. He had found my house. When he appeared he flagged, I ran inside. I was about to call for backup, then he dropped the head of my backup. It was pretty awesome.

What exactly is their track record?

The corpse carving was ended due to the jerky because of EU anticannibalism laws, I believe the specific resistance in UO's case was indeed Germany.

Jerky had nothing to do with the cooking skill, anyone could get it by first carving a body into pieces and then carving the pieces. It used the 'strip of bacon' graphic.

People jerky went away looooooong before corpse carving.

I'm thinking more in terms of taxidermy.

yeah, the corpse carving went away when they applied for the T rating, for some reason having body parts everywhere, rivers of blood, killling people left and right is fine....but you've crossed the line when you cut up the body for trophys!...that might hurt little timmy's feelings...

The corpse carving wasn't "ended due to the jerky" at all, since the jerky was already long since gone by the time a decision was made to eliminate carving. Or is there some secret way to parse "X was ended due to Y" that's just too much of a strain for me?

I just attributed it with the change of UO getting toned down to "teen" rating. I remember it getting taken out around same time as UO:Ren., which was when the rating changed. Didn't know anything about disputes over it.

I'm curious, since UO has no retail, brick & mortar presence anymore, does it even matter that Germany would ban the game? Could it still be dl and played in Germany anyway?

Even though you wouldn't be purchasing the game in a retail store, I believe there are probably still ways they would be able to block it. If they were serious enough, they could block all the Ultima Online servers from being accessed in their country.

I dunno I mean so far i've counted more yays they nay sayers lol. It's to bad that they cant like allow it because it's what the players want, even despite what germany believes. I could go back over the posts in this thread but i'm pretty sure I didn't see as many that were against it that I saw who were all for it... Sucks, oh well... Back to trying to stay awake working third shift.

I was chopping up NPC noble escorts in Skara Brae Trammel on Great Lakes back in 2000. That was back when they had like 700g and magic items and killing them was the thing to do. I remember I'd lay all the body parts out on the ground in roughly the correct positions and go "NO HE'S JUST SLEEPING" when someone would ask why I was killing them.

Honestly, I'm all for bringing back named body parts - but if it's going to lose UO coverage in certain countries, then EA simply can't be expected to do it. (As for whether Germany could ban a DL, they technically could, but the bigger problem is - isn't the Drachenfels server in Germany? It's not the biggest shard, but it's not small either, and relocating a server is inevitably a drama that costs the company at least a few accounts.)

It is a bit weird that we can have dungeons totally carpeted in dismembered bodies and blood pentagrams, and places like the Blood Dungeon with aquariums full of blood and brains, but nobody can have "a head of Alouenikah" to put on their mantelpiece. Hell, make them trophy-able, that'd be great.

unfortunately there are children who do play this game and, the teens rating is what will get us. If you want to watch someones head get cut off go find the video of the man beheaded years ago buy Alquieda. It is NOT something that ANYONE should think is OK to do and in today's day and age a game can be and is at times acted out in real life. Your desire to hack someones head off in a game for the bounty that is noble, but that would require bounties to be offered. Just hacking off a head for a prize or for any other means is wrong.

As a part of the gmae it was nice but I am sorry it should not be allowed anymore, times have changed
