I went with my male elf tamer and tried to tame a kirin but it kept saying "You can't tame that!" I thought the only requirement was that it can only be tamed and ridden by male characters. It didn't stipulate race. My tamer has 110 taming, 110 animal lore, 110 vet and good karma. Can anyone enlighten me as to why my male elf cannot tame kirins?
You were trying perhaps to tame the ones that spawn as part of the Lord Oaks Champ Spawn out by Illshenar Spirituality Shrine? Can't tame the Champ Spawn critters. Try in the Ki-rin Passage in Illshenar or at the Malas Unicorn and Ki-rin spawns.
