I've taken most of his comments from the evening out of my journal and tidied it up a bit (took out the non-Sarakan stuff and corrected a couple of typos he put down to 'freezing cold fingers), so in Sarakan's words : Well first up let me get this bit done fast I am retiring from the EM Program I will get to the why shortly and yes I am very well =) And yes I guessed the death of NH would lead to that conclusion Do you mind if I waffle on a bit now? First up the whys I been doing this for three years and that's a long time I will admit to feeling a little jaded and running a little short of inspiration My children are growing up also and I need to give them more time And this job eats up time And in real life just before I got this EM job I have a major promotion And the company I work for is suffering hard times in this recession I have quite a few younger members of staff who kind of rely on me to bring in money to keep their jobs So I need to step up to the plate a bit which means longer hours its going to be a tough year or two in Europe I also felt it was time for me to move on It's a bit like working in a soap opera and with the deaths of the major protagonists over the last six months or so it seemed the right time to do it the program has been fabulous fun and I hope I have contributed to some fun evenings when I mean we but you know what I mean I tried to create a character in Nathan Hawke [NH] who was filled with flaws misconceptions and misunderstandings a bit of an anti-hero as well at times someone who made mistakes wasn't perfect not a carbon copy hero And i tried to make story arcs that were interesting and had some meaning I am proud of what we and by this I mean you lot as well have achieved over these 3 years I look back on all the events and there has been a LOT with a great sense of achievement the main thing being that so often YOU have made such a difference we have altered story arcs mid way due to YOUR suggestions and input that meant so much to me this game still has more freedom than any other it may look a little dated but it is amazing Ok so i will take a few questions if you have any? no you cant have my robe there is no going away party this is it
Very sorry to have missed this, would have liked to say goodbye with everyone else. Sarakan, thanks for all you did, you gave us a lot of fun and pleasure and I hope you didn't get too frustrated with us I wish you all the best back in real life.
To bad that the Best EM Europa had stopped, but since the new EM is no stranger to Europa. And an RPer it will not really be as fun as it once was, well there is always the other shards. Good luck to the new EM doubt he will be able to fill the spot as good as Sarakan did in the past.
That's a rather negative view to take. How about giving the new guy a chance? Not to mention EM Emile Layne is still here and active.
health issues have kept me away from UO recently, but i can't wait to steal the new EM's undies ! A PWAL !
