Hi all I've been out of the UO loop for about 4 - 6 months but kept my accounts active, and about a week ago I got the urge to log in and check out the latest stuff such as the Covetous revamp etc. However, I can't get past the patcher screen, it simply crashes after about a minute of downloading the patch (very slowly downloading may I add). Would anyone have a possible solution to this? I never had a problem before on this computer with the new patcher thingy. I even uninstalled UO and reinstalled it, but again it crashes. Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, I did a search but to no avail. Any help much appreciated.
That happened to me too when I came back from a break. I called EA and they walked me through deleting temp files through command prompt. It worked after that.
Thanks Penana but I already tried that one, no luck. Varrius, I don't think calling EA is an option as I'm in Australia and calling over seas just isn't an option for me at the moment. Thank you for taking the time to reply
what did you re-install from? If it was a disc I suggest starting fresh with the new installer from UOHerald site.
There was a recent patch that updated the patcher. It went very slow, and at one point even seems to crash to the desktop when it is really preparing to open a command prompt to do the patcher part of the update. It may be that you are hitting that section of the patch and are a little impatient. That one patch was HUGE!
No impatience here Tazar!! Been trying for a week now and it's actually Windows that comes up with a box telling me the patcher crashed *sigh* Thor IV, if you find the solution please let me know, and I shall do likewise should I stumble upon a fix.
NP. Just try finding it in Google. You need to delete your temp internet files. You can do it on your browser, but if that doesn't work, you need to also do it through cmd prompt.
