Nerf Archery now?

    Who thinks it's about time they nerfed Archery, lots of people don't actually want to play an archer or a tamer and they are forced to to compete, Why not just have magery 10 times more powerful than archery? There's no such thing as an overpowered mage as magery requires skill to actually win, It's really annoying that the 'ask the devs' forum is full of random cherry picked trammy stuff that 3 people are actually interested in, can you just sort the game out and actually let us felucans play properly please?

    Is fel just full of whiney little babies? I accidently made one of my chars red today, I hope it not something I'll catch.

    Nerf Archers to boost mages? Why? Totally unnecessary!

    Fel is full of mages and often enough they the archers. It's pretty balanced in my eyes and I pvp with mages and archers. If anything they should come up with a way to make melee fighter compatible again - you don't see many of them.

    oh yeah.. lets nerf archers again... what template would you like to nerf next?? the one that has the player that kills you again?? Im sorry, you cant nerf something thats already been made useless with the prior nerf. My 6X legendary archer still cannot hit 100% of the time yet a mage can cast 100% of the time. Tell me where that is fair and I might bite into your arguement.

    lol you know, magery and archery have been nerfed repeatedly over the years because of 'pvper' whining.

    All the good old days when us mages didn't have to stand still to cast.. *sigh*.. memories...

    Remember when people whined and complained because mages could be 4/6? Well now we're 2/6 with a boatload of FC items out there. What a crock.

    The real solution is to give us mages back our 4/6. At least 3/6.

    What's the problem?

    Same old same old. Peeps want "their" favorite temps taken care of, and the rest of them to get nerfed.

    Don't like archers? Get your stupid melee sc mage wep out of your hand and put on wrestling. Not good enough for you? Add parry.

    Enough with the whining, god.

    Here's what I do. Make a really good one of everything. Then, just play whats working the best at that time, or what's the best in a given situation. That way no matter what kind of template is overpowered you're good.

    Mages have a lot more versatility than archers (fields, crossheals, small spaces etc.). It is quite annoying that a speedhacking hero with a double hit spell comp/h-xbow who is able to press the moving shot button can do 40-50 damage per hit and run right past you with the power of the speeder.

    Now, the stupid thing is that a mage does less damage than an archer with the difference that an archer can move and heal while attacking and doing damage..

    I say increase the SDI cap to 20-25% which would bring mage's damage closer to archers damage output.

    I have a 70% DCI parry-scribe mage which is getting hit 4-7 times in a row with moving shots.. add in hit fireball+velocity and you're all set.

    Note that these hit streaks started occurring after SA launch..

  17. if they make -mage 20 shields and add stun attack or a shield bash to parry skill, and drop the dex cap on parry things might be a bit more balanced

    or just allow mages to cast on run :D

    Oh God!! Not another nerf post by some butt sore person. Good heavens man!! Grow a pair!

    There are some fixes that pvp needs..like making factions pet resses only do-able by faction bandies..but no skills nerfs. They are finally about as close to balanced as they have been in YEARS!

    I play both mages and dexers, even some archers, and thieves, and tamers..ok..all of it. I get owned by dexers and I own dexers. I get owned by mages and I own mages. Sounds pretty even to me.
  19. Yeah right. Obv your wrestling is not 120, or your dex is not 80 to give you full parry.

    Oh and btw, when any spell hits you on a moving shot bow besides velocity, the person shooting the arrow gets stuck for a split second when the fireball, arrow, or lightning hits, so you don't get run down by double hit spell moving shot bows unless you stick around to say "hey how's it going".

    so hush, but anytime mages are effective and are stronger than dexxer its a instant nerf,

    i rather have mages overpowered and see 90% of these idiots playing archers pressing more than three buttons to pvp...

    I don't know really, in some ways I do think they need to be nerfed but not so much as archery. I think they need to lower the cap for dex and str and int. Also for mana hp and stamina. More in the lines of 125 for stats and 150 for mana stam hp, with this though it would need tweaking to the healing timer to allow for 4 sec heals still or maybe a cap of 5 secs. This in return would need to tweak casting speeds quite possibly slow them down, its is kind of sad now that you can get a super heavy hitting weapon to swing as fast as or close to at dagger. My fencer is in someways basically useless many times compared to other templates, this is in pvp or pvm.

    Its not a simple thing to do but in some ways I think it needs it, other times I do enjoy using an archer for some things and really do we want to go back to them being totally useless also. As for mages being overpowered I personally wouldn't say overpowered but way more open to adding other skills, this is a trade off I guess for being weak to some templates.

    I pvp every day at Yew and still see PLENTY of mages running around. Fight TF+R lately? They're almost ALL mages and still beat the crap outta everyone.

    As one person said mages are far more versatile than an archer and can still dismount with bolas. Good mages use that to their advantage and control the environment with fields in group battles. Archers don't crossheal very well either so don't count on one to keep you alive in the field the way a mage would.

    Before creating a thread that says "nerf this nerf that" people should get more experience in the field and have a more rounded understanding of various situations that arise in Fel.

    This forum should ban anyone that cries for a Nerf. Its getting old and ridiculous. Because someone doesnt want to invest the time and energy into thinking of a way around their enemies or tweaking their armor suit or template they want everything nerfed. Why the hell are PvPers so damn whiny?!
  25. Hmmm so because you are a super-duper mage you feel that you should be able to "catch arrows with your teeth"? This game is about balance. A legendary archer should be able to hit a non-melee mage almost every time they shoot.

    82 Dex with pots, eval+anat defensive skill (97 anatomy+120 eval -> 117 defensive skill.)

    Quoting myself from a couple of posts above. Yes, non-speedhacking archers won't be able to outrun you while doing moving shots with hit spell comp.. however
  34. If you're getting hit up to 7 times in a row, then you're getting the worst RNG dice rolls possible then. It's impossible to get hit 7 times in a row with your template. Our guild is filled with archers that go against parry mages regularly, and they have no way near the amount of hits that you're claiming.

    Oh and you only need 80 dex (not 82), and you really need to bump that anat up to 100 for the full defensive skill.

    Hey, just a little note: Your nerfs affect all of us. And how long did mages have mage armor, mage weps, parry for defense without actually having parry, and we still had to use drop bows instead of crafted?

    They nocked dex down to a 125/150 max cap, do you think that was not focused to archers?

    actually I have 83 dex so that when I'm cursed it's still 80. As for Anat+Eval.. I've tried GM anat 120 eval, works worse than 80 anatomy+120 eval.

    These hit streaks started happening after SA launch. My guess is that DCI somehow got hardcapped to 45%.

    i dunno if Archery needs a nerf, but that Armor Ignore exploit allowing Archers to do 50+ damage Armor Ignores needs to be fixed

    and to the person who says Mages have 100% casting...uh, ever hear of fizzling?

    never seen an arrow get fizzled off a bow string, just for the record


    honestly, the only thing that needs nerfed imho is that program people use to do things for them...like auto pop trapped boxes every time they go thru a para field...or twenty para fields...while throwing greater explosion pots all the while...

    Boy it becomes clearer and clearer that no one posting on these forums actually PvP's. How is it possibly fair that an archer can use an imbued yumi balanced 40 ssi with hit velocity and fireball double shot you and potentially hit for 80-90 damage? And to all you idiots out there...archers require a left mouse button to pvp whereas mages need an entire keyboard and mouse...why shouldn't they be the best?

    I hate nerfs. It would be nice to be able to play my necro-Mage again. He has been on the shelf since sa. I have tried everything to make him not get owned by archers and as of today, have been unsuccessful. As soon as HLD goes off, I'm dead. 70 dci, 80 dex, and a 2 second -20 Mage weapon with 15 ring and 5 tali. Yes I am 120 magery. I realize you have to adapt, but I have yet to see anything in the publish notes on dci changing. I am also waiting for the day when speeder no longer works. I'd rather see that issue addressed than my dci problem. My 2 gp's.

    Strange man.. Since AOS the Necro Scribe Mage has been my favorite and most comfortable template. When SA came out with the imbuing I've only gotten better.. It's really rare that an archer can kill me 1 v 1. Keep trying bro! Necros FTW!

    I agree the Yumi is pretty damn brutal. If you have a decent suit with good resists and everything hits ( Hit Spell , Double Strike , Velocity ) it should only hit up to 60-70.. 80-90 is way too much damage if you're wearing All 70's suit.
