While browsing another site, i noticed this picture from the back of the LBR box: complete cover : That is so much different that the current in-game experience, least ways with CC, and more resembles perspectives other games have. It gives the illusion of mobs being much larger/taller Which client was that? Is that the direction the EC took? Edit: update picture hosting links for dependability add: credit to uoguide.com and EA
... Looking at the full back of the box, the in-game images look to be from the 3D client. The one non-in-game image looks like it's one of the concept images done in a 3D studio program.
Ooo I'm still so mad about the cancellation of the KR client and Ultima X.. I mean the game was done.. However my question, Grimm is this.. will we see any of the artwork from either KR or Ultima X showing up in UO?
Ultima X - not a chance. Whole different critter there. UOKR, I really don't know. We're booked out for quite a stretch right now and I can't really see too much beyond... August? I honestly wouldn't say the odds are very good for a whole-sale return of the UOKR artwork, but some will definitely be filtering back in through the high res updates - but only the things that are a match for the UO art style. -Grimm
... I absolutely miss the look and the style of a LOT of KR artwork and hope that some of it DOES come back, probably topping that list for me are plants and trees, but just getting the EC in a higher and scalable resolution will be the bigger and better goal overall. I think as well it was one of those times when the game was going in a good direction overall. The event team was doing a really good job with the events and ingame fiction and it seemed like the team as a whole were really trying to push the game forward. It wasn't perfect, but it seemed like it was going in a good direction, and I hope that the HD updates bring that feeling back. Oddly enough, some of my favorite KR shots were from relatively early in its release when you could set it to a widescreen aspect. It did the same to the graphics on the game and created quite a different perspective on the game world. I should have taken FAAAAR more screenshots of the rather brief timeframe. The models were a bit wonky because of it, but the environment art worked well and simply looked like the camera angle had changed just a bit.
