Congrats America. ( =
i hope so, it would be the best what could happen to usa
(most of usa citicens dont know how close to the collaps of the whole system they are)
obama is the only chance they have atm.
It's a blow out ladies and gentlemen! I feel fantastic and am sure I'll never forget this day.
Because I finally can (although if y'all haven't un-VIPed me, this is the time,)
A socialist president is the last thing we need.
the government has no business bailing out businesses.
Unforunately I do not feel you will be so happy in a few years. When the GNP drops, tax revenues drop, companies start leaving the country, and big brother starts watching everything you do that they don't like.
Yeah its a very sad day for democracy. I have truely lost my faith in this nation and its people. But hey now I can stop working and play UO all day and let honest hard working people pay my way through life. Its just pitiful that so many Americans want handouts and dont want to take personal responsibility for things.
My thoughts exactly.
what hand outs when the 48% of americans that worked hard move out of county? Enjoy your welfare lines and bread lines america. You earned it.
In other news Obama Bans christianity and forces Muslim views on America.
The Anti Christ cometh!!!!!!
Laugh things in this country couldn't possible be worse after eight years of your republican debacle. Like your threats to leave the country could do anything but make us happy after the disaster you clueless followers have made of our great nation.
Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
Oooooooh........The other day I was going to do a post asking what trolling was but after reading Locker's posts, I now understand. So THAT is a troll. K, got it.
I logged onto stratics to congratulate those of you who did vote for Obama and was met with sooooooo much ugliness. Even though I'm a staunch conservative, I'm always willing to give people a chance.....even if I don't agree with them. To think that they say conservatives are close minded. Has America lost it's ability to be gracious winners? The "nanner nanner" mentality should've been gone when people reached maturity. *heavy sigh* *walks away so disappointed in humanity*
Yeah yeah, people say they will leave America if the person they don't like wins. Except they never actually do leave.
It's all false, as is claiming Obama is a Muslim.
Typical conservative. Ignore what his fellow conservative did to provoke the reaction and simply label the defender. The troll is the person trolling for a reaction, I'm the fish. I'm not surprise though, another right winger attacking someone for something which they are doing the exact opposite.
If you want to act all high, might and offended you are going to have to be like Obama and consider both sides... but I won't hold my breath. Personally I'm skipping away embracing my faith in humanity because your side lost. Sour grapes babe.
Say what you want. I'm not the one who was calling your candidate or his VP ugly names.
I've see a lot of assumptions on both sides. McCain supporters seem convinced that the U.S. will immediately be turning into communist Russia and everyone but them will be going on welfare tomorrow.
And I admit I supported Obama because the Religious Right scares the pee pee out of me. I have a deep fear of America turning into a real version of The Handmaid's Tale. Where they will round up people who don't support their version of Christianity, atheists, homosexuals, etc and make them mysteriously "disappear". I don't like thinking out of fear, but in my time in the South I met too many people who would have no problem looking the other way if something like this happened.
Edited to add on a positive note...I think both candidates themselves were very honorable and gracious. To see an African American running for president, and a woman running as Vice President, shows how far we have come.
Your first paragraph is exactly why I have no malice toward anyone who voted for Obama. Assumptions have been made and life experiences are what has determined how we voted. I can understand your fear that was explained in your second paragraph but personally feel that it is as unfounded as the comment about how Republicans fear that everyone is going on welfare tomorrow. I won't poo poo you because I know you outside of these forums and you're a wonderful person. My husband and I are very willing to give this new presidend-elect a chance and we do hope that he can do well for America. Anyone who wishes us ill because of this recent election isn't worthy of our consideration.
Aww thank you. I would never wish anyone ill because of how they voted or felt about things. It made me just as angry to see people make fun of Sarah Palin and her children as it did to see people make racist cartoons about Obama. I feel a lot of people were focused more on outside appearances and petty things than they should have been.
The problem is all you democrates look at is race and sex issues and believe me I have been at the brunt end of discrimination. Republicans (with the exception of a crazy few - right along with a crazy few and a little more on the democrate side that only vote for him because he is black) aren't looking at race, they are looking at his past theology and present proposed policies and what he is likely to do in the furture based on what he has said and done in the past. Not to mention how often his "ideals" suddenly morph into something else when the wind changes direction.
If you believe we have come so far than why wouldnt the Dem males allow a female like Hillary Clinton to run for president? I would support the elected Dem President Hillary Clinton in a heart beat even though its not my first choice. And Why would I support her? The answer is simple. She knows whats good for the american ppl. True Bloooded American women are what have helped this nation become what it is. How many Women have insisted on their men going to church? But how many women have insisted their men go to a church that said God Dam America for 20 years? How many women have said they were never proud of their country until their husband run for president?
I cant say where the USA is going in the next 4 years. Will Nancy Pelosi be the next President? And Harry Reed be the VP? Ya'll Obama supporters didnt even think about that! You might say the War in Iraq has lost 6,000 services members lives. And that is in how many years? 5 years? When freedom calls as it did on the beaches of Normady 6,000 lost their lives in the first hour of that battle. Over 400,000 died in WWII. And thats was to insure the American way of Life. And Now without spilling a drop of American Blood we have lost sight of Our God Giving freedom to choice our path in what ever we choose to do in life. We are one Nation under God as our Fore Fathers deceeded and when you forget that we no longer exsist as a nation.
Geez I have gone too far into God and politics for most of todays ppl to understand. And so be it. That is the way of today. Remember We must help those who refuse to help themselves, instead of God helps those who help themselves.
As a citizen of Europa I don't have the right to judge the election in any way. But it was an omnipresent topic in the media here too and from what I read and saw on TV, Obama surely has the potential to be a great President - as well as McCain. I just saw McCain's speech and how he spoke about his defeat... Respect! This is a man of great honor. Congratulations to President Obama of course. Good luck!
Why would you think you dont have the right to post your opion?
That is what make this Country so GREAT, even you can post what you think here because we dont censorship what is writen by the posters. If we did that means we didnt have any rights to free speech!!!!
Hey, that is a cool answer. Thank you. Ok, I actually meant: I don't have enough political knowledge of the political situation in the USA. But I guess the economical concerns are the same here too in these days.
I dont care where you are in this world, speak Loud enough and ppl will listen just look at what happened here in the USA. I guess the voice of a 72 yr old male wasnt loud enough. Dont yet it change your world for the worst. Speak to be heard!!!!
I feel honored to be invited to discuss this subject. But what can I contribute? I totally agree to what Samara said: "both candidates themselves were very honorable and gracious". Both have great moral-based visions and a strong character to put these visions into action. I don't know about the concrete plans they have to solve the specific problems and I don't have all this informations which were mentioned about the political career so... I better shut up and listen. For me as a non-citizen it is very interesting how you discuss this. A bit of 'Joe the plummer' in this forum, your personal view. Me, I am neutral concerning the Democrat/Republican thing. But I watch closely how people act. And I highly respect both Obama and McCain.
Hey Jeremy Finally a sign of life from you. Hope you're alright. We miss you. *hugs* And I would never un-VIP you .
Hi Jeremy, welcome to the dark side.
(we will fix you soon)
How about even darker side?
QFT. He's going to buy our groceries and put gas in our tanks! I was planning to return to work in a year, why bother? I likes me some kommodity cheese!
I'm not sure about all the other "democrates", but race and sex issues weren't of primary importance to me.
Likewise with Samara.
Hanna, just because Obama won doesn't mean it has to be a race or sex issues. It is kinda of offensive to see people like you labeling everyone who voted for Obama as only looking at race or sex. Not everything is as racist or sexist as you like to believe. So get over yourself.
I wasn't, I was pointing out how Democrates tried to accuse the Republicans of not voting for Obama because he was black. You need to read better and read what i was replying to.
I'll take that back, apparently I wasn't clear enough. What I was saying is that Democrate view opinions and actions by Republincans as motivated by bigotry, which for the vast majority of Repuclicans this is not true. But you always have a few, in both parties.
And your slighted one sided views based on party allegiance is one of the defining flaws in American Politics. It's about damn time we forget about the word Democrat and the word Republican and start using the word American to describe our allegiance.
Welcome Enjoy and have fun.
I respectfully disagree you do have the right to judge us and our political process, just don't forget we have the right to ignore your opinions
You go ahead and post your opinion, questions, thoughts, perspective, etc.
The U.S. Presidential Elections use to be hard fought (not always fairly or honorably) but when the votes were counted (not always fairly) and the Next President (not always the best choice for the events that unfold over the next four years) was announced, the nation bound its wounds, closed ranks and United behind the Elected Government.
*Shrug* Now it is more about keeping the wounds open, the ranks are well defined and standing alone. One groups confronts the elected government the other group stands with the elected government.
But if I were a foreign country, I wouldn't read to much into that. It isn't as deep as they may think it is.
You could say, that ever 4 years, the U.S. performs the ritual of the Phoenix Fire Bird. It will consume itself with a great fire and from the ash's, it will be reborn .... anew.
It isn't something to be terribly concerned about.
A bit of humor.
Every 4 years, One group gets the Government they can Live with. The other group gets the Government they deserve.
All to often, both groups just get the Government they deserve.
But every so often, they will win the Lottery and get the Government they can live with.
This isn't one of those time but we always live through it to repeat the process. Young people always bring hope, energy and optimism to balance the desire to keep things the same, the stubbornness to keep things the same and the determination to keep things the same of the Older people. As long as everyone understands the value of what the others bring to the party, we will be fine.
A bit of seriousness.
90%+ of the African American voters voted for Obama. One might want to ponder that statistic, what it means and will it come back to haunt everyone given only a 6% Popular Vote difference between the two Parties.
51%+ of the Voters believe that the News Media preferentially helped Obama win. My opinion, this will not be a people back lash on Obama. It will be a back lash on the News Media, which will cause the News Media to turn on Obama.
A Point to watch, The Democrats have blamed 100% (a laughable piece of political rhetoric) of the problems over the last 8 years, on the Republicans.
Now they have no one to blame but them selves.
One might want to ask this question, did the Democrats make friends or enemies of the Republicans in their pursuit of blaming the Republicans for 100% of the problems?
Woot!!!! Yes. We are in now. The terrorist will now leave us alone. We now have a pres on the inside.
Ahem..Nooo...I am not being sarcastic.
I hope that by the time 2012 rolls around, there's still an America to vote someone else in.
(Or failing that, that Obama, Biden, Pelosi, and the next dozen or so in line are all hit by the same city bus next week.)
The majority of people in our great country spoke and we have a new President. We clearly are tired of a government that was not preforming their duty. I am so glad that Obama won.
Thank you very much, EnigmaMaitreya. I think I can't decline this nice offer so I will try to explain in some details why Obama is so popular in Europe. Please have in mind that I have no mandate to speak for any group - not to mention for whole Europe. But there are some basic views we all share here on the Continent. This might help to give an insight.
1.) Europa loves America. We love the American way of life, the mondern music, the movies, the fastfood, the tourists who visit our beautiful places. The list would go on and on. We share the same economical values, we share the same roots in religious and cultural sense. Europa will never forget how America helped Europe to end the Second World War and how the States provided aid to rebuild our economy.
In the last eight years it was somewhat difficult to show this love because every demonstration of sympathy would include an agreement to the (foreign) politics adopted by the Bush administration which we largely hadn't.
2.) As much as we have a strong bond of friendship we somehow diverged politically in the last eight years . All european politicans were very sorry about that because the bond is vital especially for the economical and military sector. We were shocked and deeply grieved about 9/11 and we shared your sorrow. But all reactions from the US government which followed caused blank astonishment and later categorical rejection. As for the most important in this matter the war in Iraq which was started without the permission of the United Nations and the prisons Abu-Graib and Guantanamo. From a European point of view, this was absolute preposterous both to human rights as well as to modern politic in the 21th century. See, in Europe no single country has death penalty and we are very proud of that. Torture and war are the most disgusting politcal options and ostracized by any government in Europe. This attitude is deeply rooted in our recent history.
3.) President Obama raises hope that the war in Afghanistan and Iraq will end, that Guantanamo prison will be closed and that the American government will participate in averting the climate catastrophe. All Europeans thirst for getting but to the excellent relationship we had before. I saw polls which said that over 90% of the European population would vote for Obama. Odd when you think that we hardly khow this man and his politcal career. But I guess this doesn't matter. What Europeans love about Obama is basically everything we love about America. I guess the growing sceptisism here against Mrs. Palin did the rest.
Finally I want to remind that this a personal view. If you feel insulted in any way I apololize. I would never intend to do so and probably used the wrong world. Please don't blame any European for what I said – blame me.
The election has passed. You all have a choice. Bitch and moan your candidate didn't win, make ridiculous claims about Obama being the anti-christ (really, people? read a Bible..) and wallow in your racism and prejuduses....OR
You can get over it, get behind your new president and be part of the solution. You can help show other countries that we are united and while we have issues like all countries, we are strong and will pull through. You can actually try to get involved in your local government, write your local legislatures about your concerns and issues. It all starts at the bottom. Trust me on this. You can pressure local government to bring more industry to your towns to promote jobs; get a on a board, write your congressman.
Most importantly, research and educate yourself. Don't listen to propaganda you saw in an email or on some youtube video. Stop being afraid and inciting fear because someone with a darker skin color is president. Work on being the best person YOU can be and stop blaming everyone for your problems, including the current Pres. Bush. Sure, he did some things I don't like, but you can't blame him because you're stuck in a deadend job and chose having fun over going to college or getting married to a bum and having to raise 3 kids, or took a loan from a bank you couldn't afford to pay back and knew it.
Take responsibility. Take action. Take pride in your country, or take a hike. We don't need the whining any longer.
Change IS coming. Thank God.
what i like most on obama is that he started as an social-worker
(even if he could have a high payd better job)
he is not like this bush, a AA, rich son, a flop , even his papa and mama bush dont like him LOL
now USA have a chance to stop killing innocent childs around the world for oil,gas and resourcess.
come down people, the US people produce the most CO2 output in the world, its time
to help to save the world.
"Don't blame me, I voted for Ron Paul"
You'll see that on my bumper in the coming weeks. Everyone wanted "change" and they are sure as shootin' going to get it, but not the "change" they thought they were going to get.
This has nothing to do with you the poster, having said that....
First, Germany and France had huge economic ties (as in projects) with IRAQ that would clearly be terminated by any U.S. action against IRAQ. In fact they were terminated, they are, within the last year, coming back on line.
Second, It has been a long standing policy within the U.S. to not deal with terrorists. This was hardly a new policy for the U.S. under President Bush.
One could say that is in direct contrast to SPAIN for example. Spain gives it's word to be a part of something, and then .... well caves in to Terrorism. I get that many in Europe will get angry with that and say the two events are not related. Problem is date line wise the two match up.
It would be rather easy to misunderstand my position, so I will be a little more clear. I basically oppose the U.S. partnering with anyone in situations like this. The .. hum ... partners always have their own agendas that tend more often than not to be Empire Building, if not politically then financially. The simple truth is that the U.S. has not needed any assistance to achieve its military goals, since WW II. It can easily do that with or with out the Media Criticism and character (Nation) assassination. Having said that, the Partnering allows for a MORE HUMANE solution to the conflict.
While many are told the U.S. is Empire Building, they can not point to a single incident of this, in modern times, say WW II and later. The reason is extremely simple, it is not our way, we have zero reasons to do that. America, right or wrong, is about Culture and Business. We DO NOT need to build any Empires. In fact it is in America's best interest to have, Strong, Independent, Culture and Business Competitors. NOT predators, that is not the same thing. It is certainly NOT in America's interest to have Weak, Dependent, countries in the world.
One might say it this way, "Competition is Stimulus, Monopoly is Stasis". The problem is that this is equally true. "Predator is Stimulus". One is the friendly form and the other is the hostile/violent form.
While I have no real problem with EU/NATO it may very well be time for us to no longer be the protector and leave the EU to its own destiny. Perhaps then people may not be in rebellion because they perceive (right or wrong) that the U.S. is a parent vs a Partner. Maybe then they might be able to more clearly see their .... peril and determine how best to ... meet that challenge.
racism? I haven't seen racism in this thread. WTH does that comment come, Sister Annorah? As for accepting Obama. No. Any other democrat, fine. But, the man is can't even prove he's a US citizen. He lies continually about his associations. You can have him for 4 years. And when the socialist president and his pals in the house make things worse, who will they blame then?
I would also consider that not ALL democrats are going to play along with him. The treatment of Hillary and Lieberman alone should give you pause.
A social worker is hardly something to be proud of, IMO.
Your comments about his parents is beyond ridiculous.
Thanks to Obama, the court will now be stacked with women guaranteed the federal right to kill their own innocent babies. Global warming is a myth.
I wonder Flora, did you vote? Just curious.
And I never said anyone here in this thread was racist. But there are plenty of racial slurs going on around the country.
And don't work with him? Work against him. THAT's good for this country now isn't it? How can we fix this nation when we are working against each other? The public spoke. We voted. He won. Move on.
And I see you watched the Youtube video too. Let me explain this. 1. He has proved where he was born. In Hawaii. 2. Do you honestly think that if there was any real question that McCain's campaign wouldn't have tried everything to prove that? Do you honestly think he could have been approved by the elections commission? Or maybe...they are all secretly being paid off by Obama..or wait..maybe it's his voodoo magic or uber anti-christ skillz that MAKES people vote for him and support him and change laws to allow him to run.
And wait....being a social worker isn't anything to be proud of? What do you do for a living??
And um..abortion was made legal a long time ago. Not thanks to Obama.
Ya know, after reading your statements, it's really not worth the work.
Go read a book or something. And pray to God you never need the help of a social worker.
Yeah and humans as a whole only produce a minority of the Greenhouse emissions that enter the atmosphere each year... Most are related to volcanic activity around the globe. So what's the point of that comment?
Amen. People will heal from their disappointment over time. Its usual for people to complain if they voted for someone else. However some of these comments are just plain ridiculous. And hopefully those who toss around ridiculous claims such as America collapsing will learn better.
CO2 output maybe can be discussed more deeper, but all in all, the high CO2 output also means, that WE(the whole mankind) consume far far to much of the earth resourcess,
do u have children ? in 30 years, there will be definetly NOT enough resources for us ALL
