not sure if its a bug, but ive read a similar story regarding this situation: 1 character,1acct, 2 computers i cannot use any skills in the menu or through a macro. tried to page a GM several times over last 2 nights. i got one response along the lines of deleting my char folder, tried that and didnt work. also tried installing enhanced client as suggested in another thread, still doesnt work. only this character out of 7 has had this happen to it. any other suggestions on how to fix oh yeah, tried a clean install also, still stuck
heard of this a few times myself, what ive seen that was able to fix it was threw the use of the honor gump and target yourself, usually clears whatever is stopping the use of skills.
tried that as well tried dying cant use any skills even from context menus another GM showed finally all he said was contact support, which i did. so GM's dont even show up anymore? just a little chat?
basicly yeah, don't bother paging for most things now, you get a chat box and a GM that tells you to contact support. (some of my now inactive characters have permabugs i could never get fixed as well due to this, and i'm not doing a toll call to EA again where i get charged $20 for being on hold for a hour)
this has to be on their end. ive tried logging on a different computer thats not even on my network, fresh install of the game and it is still happening!! For a GM to come at me with "contact support" is just poor service and aptitdue. the term gamemaster doesnt mean anything anymore, shouldnt you be at least aware of game mechanics? for the record, i didnt think an automated voice could be as rude as the one for origin support, not ultima online mind you, origin lol.
yeah i tried everything you guys wrote in the other thread, i even went naked and died,rezzed, log a few times. did a registry clean out as well still bugged, really weird, sorry for the rant but this was one of my babies. char number 2 from like 2000, ill try support again in the morning maybe they can compensate me a adv token if i delete him
I can think of only one other thing to try, it does seem to do *something* to your char, so maybe it would clear it. Copy the char to test center?
How did you word your page? Did you tell them you had a stuck skill timer and therefore could use no skills, that you've tried everything players can suggest to no avail and please help?
i said and quote "my character cannot use his skills, i have tried deleting my character folder,dying,fresh installs of the game,all i get is a message i have to wait to use another skill" the first gm answered a day ago, and gave me a canned response so i was not able to reply. then today i finally talked to a gm in chat and told them i have tried numerous ideas myself and other players had and i even stated that another player had the same issue and it had been resolved by the gm logging them in and out while not having any equipment on them at all, he then replied that i needed to contact support, he gave the email for support and then asked if there was anything else he could do for me, i replied i guess not. the way i see it there wasnt even a dialogue or any solutions offered except contact customer support.
I think I'd try once more, use the 'stuck timer' phrase, I firmly believe this is something the GMs can fix, if you can get the right one.
Try looking at the margins of your play screen very closely for something which has been misplaced just out of view.
I will always be one of the first ones to stick up for GM's and those who help run the game, however that quote is very disheartening. If we get the right one? To me that screams that there is a major flaw in the GM system. Having to get the right one should not be a concern when dealing with any aspect of a companies customer support. Sure once in a while is expected. We are all human and we all know there is always that one or two jack arses but with the GM system it seems the trend is opposite. This in no way is a complaint or a shot towards the EM's or the staff here, just with the GM system. It has become obvious that it has some serious issues.
yars, I had this problem with a character on GL sometime in the last year or so. Tried many things to try to resolve it myself, to no avail. When I finally did page, the GM who replied told me that the problem was one that I could NOT have resolved myself. He cleared the problem within a second or two. I'll try to dig up a screen shot for you showing the conversation with the GM and will add it to this post if I find it. Not sure that will help, but you never know....
petra i owe you big time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i got different gm this time he fixed in in exactly 10 secs. it was a stuck skill, kudos to GM LUBUC the other guy can go pound salt for not even trying come to pacfic petra for a big hug!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not sure that's true. Even when everyone seemed to know the names of the GMs there were always a few that just went through the motions and others that went above and beyond. Sometimes it's our fault, we don't explain our problem clearly enough and/or we don't tell them what we've already tried. I think the same can be said for every kind of 'help desk' in any industry or company you could name. Some of us, too, waste their time with silly things we could fix ourselves or questions about general game play that could be answered just by asking in general chat.
it also goes to show no matter how much we all bicker and fight about what we are passionate about we need each other and the occasional support from the gm's to fix things we take for granted. thank for the help everyone, i can now go to sleep!
I have the same problem and so far can't get a gm to respond to me any ideas? Maybe I should hit a golem and have someone report me or spam cuss words in general chat?
I had to page a GM to fix this as well. The response you get from GM's is based on your wording most of the time. It helps ALOT if you know what you did or have general information about why such problems occur. My character that had this problem was a Peace-Necro, (problem started right after they fixed the delay between skill uses.)
have revive a dead thread, it happened again on a different character, now the GM's dont even respond, its been 12hours
I used to have this problem when training Ninjitsu..... usually if I just try using one of the other skills it seems to shake it off... It's often when I'm trying to do shadow jump. Usually if I can successfully do something easy like mirror image it seems to clear it up.
I also had this happen . you can not use any button based skill such as med hide insc eval they all lock up and say gotta wait. I paged gm told them all my blue button skills are not timing out can not use any skills in less than 30 minutes gm was on spot and fixed. I asked and gm said it happens once in a while and only way to fix is to page for a gm. so page a gm and tell him all youre skills are locked up and can not use not timing out at all.
