OSI Owned House Decay system broken?

Theres a house in game thats steps are right up against a tree and i've gotten to where I recall to this house to check the status of it and it's like it stops at fairly worn and reverts back to slightly, and starts over again. This house has been doing this since LAST year (no joke) and I was just wondering... Will it ever fall? Is there something wrong with the way houses age once owned by OSI?

If it's actually owned by OSI, it will never fall. Every couple of months there's a flurry of threads here in UHall asking for OSI-owned houses to be removed. This is a very well known issue.

I always wondered how a house became owned by OSI, I thought they were ones that got a Ban, like the ones that get burned.
Then i read this at uoguide,
    steps:
    6. In Danger Of Collapsing
    7. Demolition Pending
"If a house "In Danger of Collapsing" has vendors in it at the time of collapse, it will enter a "Demolition Pending" phase and appear as being owned by OSI."

Sounds like something broken in code, or newer code that's missing checks in that last stage. Isn't this similar for the WBTB houses?
Maybe it's not an editable module, and manual deletion, one by one, is the only answer, an ubber secret because it's not that they don't know how or wouldn't, They Can't.
Start a thread in the Bug Section, co-ords, shard, facet, etc. so not only will others know which ones are on the list, but documented dating - wonder which program they use for location finding?

Some owned by OSI houses are houses on banned accounts where the previous owner is fighting the charges that caused them to get banned.

It could be a grandfathered house. Have you checked to see if the house is private or open to the public? If it says open to the public and still can not go on the steps then it is possible that is is EA ownd. If the house is owned by EA (OSI is bye bye now) then it would say so. Or it used to.

Also like Flutter said there have been houses that have been banned for years now and the owners are still fighting the case. Dunno why it takes so long.

OSI houses falling? That question is so 1999.

Does anyone know of actual OSI houses falling? I've kind of established that they never really change.

I can recall several, maybe five or six "Owned by OSI" houses that were bugged but did eventually fall.

I believe every one though was several years in the waiting.

There was an OSI house in Luna, Oceania, that fell in... 2007, I think? Every week it would go IDOC and this huge group of people would gather, then it would refresh and they'd disappear, to return again the next week. Over and over and over. Eventually, when it did fall, it was only like halfway through the cycle - fairly worn or something - and it dropped at like 4am when nobody was around.

UO's biggest tragedy to date, tbh.

The house was private and I could not get on the steps. I dont understand why someone would "fight" for their account for years? That almost sounds like they have no life. Normally once you get the first "NO" answer wouldn't you give up? I just can't see someone trying to get their account back that long. I tried getting an account back that was banned years ago and the reply I got was basically "it doesn't exist anymore" because after so long they literally delete the account cause I was able to create a new account using the exact same username and password.

From what I remember it's owned by OSI when it has vendors.

When a house has vendors that are owned by the owner of the house those vendors fall with the house.

When a house has Vendors owned by someone else then the house will continue to refresh back to "slightly worn" each time so long as vendors with contracts remain. So if someone has a paid up vendor and never has to renew the contract then the vendor will keep the house up.

However, and this is something MANY folk forget... When the contract for a vendor is up the vendor then goes into the house sign where it can't be seen but the "owner" of the vendor then has I believe 30 days or something to come and get their stuff off their vendor from the house sign... This is why a lot of houses seem to never decay but keep refreshing even when it has no vendors.

I didn't see any vendors in this house. Like you said though, maybe the vendors are in the house sign -_^. It really is a drag that they wont make these houses from perma banned accounts fall. I mean could u imagine how it would impact the rares economy which so many items left and right. House spots wouldn't be hard to get, I mean for 18x18s or keeps/castles in trammel on say Atlantic shard or other heavily populated ones (looks around). I just dont understand why they would rather have the houses there and rot when a player could be using that land for their own house?

Not only is it punishing the person that was perma banned, but it's also punishing those out there who live next to or would like the land for their own house or to upgrade the one they have.

In my opinion if someone gets banned, especially for duping or scripting... permanently they should wait 30 days for appeal and if the person doesn't appeal or win an appeal then the house the character and the account should be DELETED. Boom done end of story.... no having it fall so greedy people can pick up ill-gotten gains... but simply removed. Then the land is clear for someone else to use and there is no chance of gold, duped items or scripted items to get back into the economy.

If a house is owned by OSI, please email me the location and I have to drop those.

  16. One problem I often see is people get confused between ownerless houses, confiscated houses, houses with rented out vendors that turn Owned by OSI in order to give tenants a chance to retrieve their goods and ones like that which get stuck cycling forever.
  17. Dan123The123Man Lore Master

yeah, it's really unfortunate that we have to like basically "guess" if we happen to come across a house that's already in the cycle without knowing if whether or not there had been vendors there previously.
