Although I can only assume it's a joke, I appreciate the confusion considering it was posted March 29th and not April 1st... Duh.
Of course its not real but this will keep everyone distracted from what they realy going to do! They going to conquor the world and destroy it.... Most likely with Pandas and casinos!
Why does everyone think this is a joke? Here in theWest , a Panda race is viewed with ridicule but is met with glee in the Far East . Look at how many Oriental based shards there are , and how active their version of the EA stores are. UO is a growing franchise there, and may very well be the future of UO. I'm all in favor of "Pandamonium" if i expands my game's customer base.
It's a joke because when WoW announced their new panda race all the players who didn't meet it with glee went into paroxyms of rage and threatened to quit over it - seems a common tactic amongst MMO players
Hmmm, our content has been on the 'lacking' side for how many months now, and still is? no expansions or really anything new since when? Many old plans put on the back burner? Anniversary coming up, but Nothing special to offer? so... What's them Dev's been doing? A new race, really just a joke, or just One of several to be offered? Although I am not sure I want to be a Panda (EA will need to add another character slot...)...I do know that Grammar Police like you can be quite annoying. Especially in "Your" smug and self satisfied post. Here is a little quote from the locked thread about Pandas that you started...it is post #13: Now...it is important to note that I only do this to fully demonstrate that even you, Ivor, may make grammatical and/or spelling errors at times. I am fully aware of my foibles and errors...but you seem to wear a shiny badge of Grammar Police on your Forum Chest...particularly when YOU got fooled by EA for a "Panda Race". Does anybody really think EA would publicly make fun of another competitor ... really? cheap, childish As folks know, things are planned many, many months in advance, how you know this wasn't planned first by UO, and leaked by a disgruntled ex-employee?

Dammit no one told me there would be points. This is so unfair. The dev team should really let us know if there's going to be points. I bet whoever typed "paroxyms" knew ahead of time there would be points. I bet they have you on ICQ and you are friends with them on Facebook. I'm very angry. I am going to close my 47 accounts because of this. Stupid points. Terrible idea.
I voted that I don't care either way, mainly because I wouldn't want to put a damper on things for players who might enjoy this. However, my personal inner reaction to the idea of pandas in UO is.... Oh, NOOOOOOO!
The next introduction of new not well though out content... woopie.. Hell the last poorly thought out expansion/race hasn't even been properly balanced yet.. I really hope it's fake.. :/
i think its about high time those lazy pandas earned their keep! "oh look at us, we are on the endangered list and we eat bamboo" nope, no free rides! put a collar on them and teach them to answer phones and we can put them to work at the EA call center!
You do realize that every bamboo plant, no matter where it is..dies every 7 years....that's a fact...these poor pandas go STARVING every 7 years...they need SOMETHING to do...geesh!
This kind of stuff happens more often than you think. Big gaming companies are all the time taking potshots at each other. They may tone it down at times, such as in financial reports, but in other times, such as gaming conferences, they take blatant jabs at their competitors. Last year when Battlefield and Call of Duty were going at it, the jabs got really pointed at times.
I agree with you, but I wouldn't exactly call UO a legitimate competitor to that other game . Completely different strokes for completely different folks.
