Hi guys must a parry mage without wrestle acquip a spellbook in order for parrying to be effective?
And if yes does anyone of you have any experience with a parry mage without wrestle?

Parry chance and hci/dci/weaponskill calculation are 2 completely different things. For parry to work it doesnt matter if you have a weapon or spellbook in your hands ( not sure about throwing weapons here ).
Also remember, you still have some passive wrestling from eval and even anat if human, so having dci makes sense.

If you use a mage weapon from time to time, parry without wrestle may make sense. If you always want a free hand, you get slightly better block chance from having 120 wrestle instead of parry, at least on a elf.

Use stratics combat calculator to see exact numbers.
