How to post screenshots in a post.

    How to capture an image:

To capture an image you can use the Prt Sc (Print Screen) button on your keyboard.

Open an image editor e.g. Paint, PaintShop or PhotoShop and make a new document.

    File > New… (or Ctrl +N)

Paste the screenshot into the new document.

Edit > Paste (or Ctrl +V)

Now you have a large image the size of your screen.

Large images make the forums load slower and very large images will force users with smaller monitors to scroll sideways, which is annoying and thus makes the use of the forums less attractive.

So we encourage our users to crop their images before posting.

    How to crop an image:

Click the Marquee tool [IMG] and drag to select a rectangular area.

Make a copy of the selected area.

Edit > Copy (or Ctrl +C)

Paste the selection into a new document.

Sometimes a white area will occur around your image.

To remove that white area, grab the small blue dot in the lower right corner with your cursor and drag it till it fits the image.

Now your image is ready to save.

    File > Save As…

Give your image a name and choose JPEG under Format and Save.

You can also use UO Screenshot Utility http://www.brothersoft.com/uo-screenshot-utility-232985.html which probably is the best screenshot utility out there. It lets you take pictures quickly and automatically saves them as JPEGs.

The UO Screenshot Utility takes a shot of the game window and the black area around it and nothing else.

To edit those pictures open them in your image editor and follow the steps above.

How to insert the image in your post:

First you need to upload it to a public server. You can’t link to you own hard disc drive.

There are a lot of free image hosts where you can upload and store your images.

    http://imageshack.us/ , http://photobucket.com/ and http://www.freeimagehosting.net/ are just a few of them.

Once uploaded, your image will have an URL such as:

    http://img174.imageshack.us/my.php?image=NameOfYourImagett4.jpg (not a real link)

To copy the URL, highlight it and press Ctrl +C

Click the Image button [IMG] and paste (Ctrl +V) the URL into the input field.

You can also paste the URL into your post and type [IMG] right after.

Additionally, the UO Players Corner is a treasure trove of information. If you haven't visited the forum before, you should! *smiles* The Players Corner is a great place for beginners and long time veterans alike where discussions focus on helping other players to find the knowledge that they seek and to archive, per say, the collective knowledge shared within the Community.

    On Opinions and Debating

Please remember, while users are allowed to provide their own opinions on a topic and debate the opinions from other users, users may not attack an opinion with trolls and personal attacks aimed at the user.

If a user believes a post to be in violation of this or our other Rules of Conduct, please use the Post Report link found at the bottom of each post to notify us. Users should not reply to someone that is trolling or making personal attacks, for if they do and their post is also in violation, all parties will be hearing from a Moderator or Administrator.

Also, to put someone on ignore is perfectly acceptable. It is not however, acceptable to state in public that one is now ignoring them for that in itself is trolling for a "response" from them. Just ignore them and move on.

    Thank you,
    ~Orvago

[Square brackets] - use and missuse, please read.

Square brackets are traditionally, on these forums, kept for official information posted by staff members.

We ask that posters not use them in the titles of their posts, use instead the normal ( ) parenthesis.

    Thank you.
