Team Rubicon unites the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response teams. They are currently in Oklahoma and we thought with this weekend honoring Veterans and the work they are doing at Team Rubicon for relief efforts there, it would be good to offer our support to both through Team Rubicon with proceeds going directly to Oklahoma relief.

Lets start with the alpha. A week or so back, there was a new update posted on the Greed Monger website regarding the implementation of multiple systems in Greed Monger. Some of those systems include: login and authentication options, overhead chat, spell combat system, character creation, and a Python scripting engine for implementing these systems.

In the alpha update, Electric Crow Games also announced that they have switched from traditional server hosting to cloud hosting for Greed Monger. The new cloud hosting promises faster speeds and more robust scalability than traditional hosting.

If you would like to help fund Greed Monger and get some perks while doing so, there was also a crowd funding option added earlier this week. There is also the option to secure in-game land for your house.

When players first enter the world of Greed Monger, they will be confronted by an empty world, no towns or cities, no items, no NPC’s to hold your hand.

Players create everything–every item in the game is made by the players, every city and every town is created by the players.

Greed Monger’s land parcel and housing systems are also a key feature of the game. Once you purchase a land parcel in one of the 5 climates, you virtually own that land in the game world. With that land, you could create a house or shop for your character, or keep the land and wait for its value to rise and re-sell it for a profit.

When creating a house in the world of Greed Monger, you will need to collect the raw resources from the land, design your house using the in-game house editor, and create your house from the raw resources you have gathered.

Greed Monger also includes a extensive and unique skill system with no hard cap on any of the skills. These skills include cartography, armor smiting, cooking, lock picking, and weapon smiting, to name a few.

Richard “Lord British” Garriott and the Portalarium team celebrated the success of Kickstarter campaign on Sunday, following a month-long push for crowdsourced funding that ultimately raised over $2 million for their upcoming title Shroud of the Avatar. The final 24 hours of the campaign were streamed live on Portalarium’s YouTube channel, during which time the team played games, interacted with fans, and enjoyed an impressive selection of liquor.

Stratics staff members and alumni joined a 3-hour livestream with Mr. Garriott, and later, New York Times best-selling fantasy author Tracy Hickman, who will be leading story development in Shroud of the Avatar. Mr. Garriott provided additional insight into possible upcoming features, including the possibility of mobile dwellings, such as houseboats and traveling caravans. Stratics also posed some unique questions, including, “Boxers or briefs?” Mr. Garriott’s response may be found in the livestream video above.

Shots were consumed after every $25,000 milestone, laughs were shared, and rainbow-colored wings were donned, but these experience and others may only be relived by watching the video. In all, mood was festive and celebratory. Stratics staff, both past and present, were grateful for the opportunity to experience the excitement with the team. Congratulations, Poralarium!
