    300 fertile dirt
strict maintenance for 15 plants for 17 days
    who knows how many potions
    1 seed

114 @*^%$#&*&*(&# seeds for 1 seed of renewal

There are no words to express how I feel about being treated like this. Personally, I'll be ok because I will just grow 500 plants a day or 1000 or whatever it takes to get what I want.

Let's be honest with each other though. The people that program this game can do anything to us they want to. After 12 years we're not going to quit. No need of lying about that. We HAVE to have these seeds. We can't imbue ANYTHING without them so we are forced to spend vast amounts of time and resources aquiring them.

I've hit a point in my uo life where I'd like to relax and have some fun not spend this level of effort to get these seeds. I just can't believe they mean for this to be this difficult. People keep posting fantastic seed drop levels, but yet there are no seeds on the vendors at these prices.

  2. Yes, the drop rates severely need to be increased.

Current price on my shard is 3 million per 10 seeds. And only ONE vendor in Luna sells em. Ridiculous.

No, they don't. 5% is just fine. Do we really need a whole new thread for someone who discovered that random numbers are... random?

So grow your own! It's not like it takes any effort.
Maybe he's smart enough to realize that he's the only one selling them so he buys out the competition, or they just sit there for days until the vendor fees overtake the profit. (I've seen vendors that do this.)

And I swear if some moron chimes in about the RNG...
RNG being broken will affect strings of similar actions. So for one plant, sure. A dozen? Not likely.

Not sure it will make you feel any better, ABC, but here are some stats I've collected in the process of trying to get one of each color of battle chicken lizard. Supposedly there are 20 colors. I've seen 17 of the colors myself but haven't managed to get one in each color yet, although I've wasted a lot of time trying. Thank goodness hay and water are cheap and coops and incubators are reusable. They also take up all the space I used to use for raising plants.

I've got two flocks going: The first one is on Lake Austin and currently numbers 44 chicken lizards, with three of those destined to go to a guildmate if we ever catch up with each other. The other flock is on Formosa and numbers 60 chicken lizards.

I haven't hatched any of the eggs on Formosa. If I ever get enough battle chicken lizard eggs, I'll put up a vendor or go see if I can find an English-speaking player in Luna willing to rent me a vendor for a week or two. I hate running vendors but I figured battle chicken lizard eggs might be an easy sell. I guess I'll find out. Seems no one sells low-level power scrolls anymore and stat scrolls have left the game, so trying to get scrolls for new characters at this point in time has become very very expensive. Maybe battle chicken lizard eggs will earn me a few million gold to buy a couple of 120 power scrolls, even though I sure would have settled for 110s and 115s....

97 Bonded chicken lizards (regular and battle) (37 in a mixed flock on LA and 60 regular ones on Formosa)

1665 Hay bales purchased and fed to the lizards (1005 on LA and 660 on Formosa)

430 Eggs collected (277 on LA and 153 on Formosa)

    1 Egg burned

70 Currently unmatured eggs (23 on LA and 47 on Formosa)

359 Matured eggs (253 on LA and 106 on Formosa)

35 Matured battle chicken lizard eggs (25 on LA and 10 on Formosa)

324 Matured regular chicken lizard eggs (228 on LA and 96 on Formosa)

Color distribution of the battle chicken lizard eggs:

1 Cyan (on Formosa and I'm not 100% sure because I don't want to hatch it)
2 Strong Cyan (on Formosa and again not 100% sure without hatching one of them)
5 Light Green (4 on LA, 1 on Formosa)
    1 Strong Green (LA)
    1 Gold (LA)
2 Strong Yellow (1 on LA, 1 on Formosa)
3 Agapite (1 on LA, 2 on Formosa)
    2 Strong Purple (LA)
    0 Ice Green
4 Ice Blue (2 on LA, 2 on Formosa)
    2 Light Blue (LA)
    1 Blue & Yellow (LA)
    2 Green (LA)
    1 Dark Green (LA)
4 Valorite (3 on LA, 1 on Formosa)
    2 Midnight Blue (LA)
    2 Black (LA)
    0 Unknown color #1
    0 Unknown color #2
    0 Unknown color #3

    # of days faithfully spent on this nonsense: 41 rolleyes:

I'm not sure which venture is more frustrating--yours or mine. I guess mine is definitely cheaper and I'm under no real pressure to keep it going. Lately my grandson has taken to watching me feed the lizards and making sure I don't miss picking up any eggs they drop. Then we hatch a few of the regular eggs that have matured, tame the hatchlings and go try to kill stuff with them. Or I drop the eggs at a bank or try to talk someone into taking some of the matured eggs. One poor soul on LA graciously accepted 80 eggs one day, as well as a few coops and incubators. Hehe. Haven't tried dropping the extra eggs at a bank on Formosa yet. Can't read Chinese and I'm not sure I want to guess if someone's asking me about the eggs or cussing at me about the mess they'll surely cause.

Hang in there. Just keep telling yourself someday the RNG will go in your favor, right?

    Good luck!

Another example of the RNG hating a character specific maybe.

I use normal dirt out my front door. Looted seeds/X pollinated seeds/white & black seeds or Cocoa plant seed gathering. No matter I pull all at once or one a day it has been 1 per 25 average is a renewal. I have had 3 of 8 from one bright green thorn producer when pulled all at once. And 2 of 8 from what was white lillies seeds when pulling daily.

The only way to test more is the wierdness that comes from 6th and 7th character slots being RNG lacking in areas. Or not to use the character that has been growing my plants from day one of the plant bowl release. I'm sure fertile dirt has nothing to do with it or the fact I grow all my plants on his beetle has an RNG effect.

Thread needs more imput from characters being used for the first time to grow plant compared to the veteran plant growers LUCK. Not like they'd hide anything for their own S&G.

The drop rate seems fine to me. If they are that valuable I'm going to increase my plant production. I've given a few away to a guild mate for no charge. If you are on Great Lakes I have some I can sell you. Oh yeah, ABC123, I seem to remember you have millions or is it billions in gold? So for you 2 million per seed. It's a joke, price would probably actually be higher for you.
LOL, again I am joking! If I knew you, I would give you the seeds. I'm not greedy. Of course if I did know you in game, and you were a jerk, no way in h e double hockey sticks would I give them to you.

If anyone on Great Lakes need these seeds, and I don't really have that many because my plant production has been small. Let me know, I will sell them for a reasonable price.

I have chars on every shard, if you like I can grow some plants on...Atlantic? I'm not sure where you guys play. But I know you have a goal you want to hit soon so I wouldn't mind logging in each day to water 100 plants or so. I would just need seeds (and potions), but I see you have some. :p

More drama please. No really. You don't HAVE to have them to imbue anything, Mr. Drama King. They are used for MR...nothing more, nothing less. In the hundreds of items I've imbued, I've used about 30 seeds. Use a runic kit or low end hammers to make your base items. Sort/cull to get items with the mods you need (ie MR1 or MR2). Problem solved.:next:

    I would be happy with 5%. I just removed 504 seeds from 63 Orange Pampas. I got 14 Renewal == 2.6%.

They drop off rats faster than plants, however, adjusting the drop rate slightly could be nice. A plant takes a min of 16 days if all goes perfectly to get a chance for max seeds. It is an awful lot of work for very little.

So, if u need to do 500 plants a day- u need to run a script to maintain that many for 16-20 straight freekin' days. Again, crap drop rate equals a push to script it instead of doing it by hand.

  14. Tina, out of sheer curiosity (and you don't have to reply if you don't want to), why do you :
    i) figure battle chicken lizard eggs might be an easy sell?
ii) play on Formosa if you don't read Chinese?

I can get you in touch with an "English-speaking player in Luna willing to rent you a vendor for a week or two" guildmate of mine (an American living in Taiwan), if you're sure you want to do this.

er I get on average 1-2 seeds of renewal everyday. I think maybe 40 plants growing at anyone time. I pull seeds on a daily basis....

I've not kept detailed records, so I can't say for sure, but the 'feel' I have for the seed of renewal dropping is that it is indeed about 5% - despite the one lunatic plant that gave me three out of eight seeds!

I appreciate your frustration, but I suspect it's just the RNG at work again.

As for 'having' to get the Seeds of Renewal, though.... sorry, but that's way over the top. Useful, yes. Vital to playing and enjoying the game? Absolutely not, not even vital for the tiny percentage of the game that is imbuing either. What you seem to mean is 'I can't do exactly what I want to do NOW', which is a far cry from something being essential or even requiring a change in the programming.

  18. I think its perfect.
Months ago we didnt have 2 options.
Im not for the second options. But as is its fine.

Imbuing is already getting saturated. The same stuff is all over the place and pieces are falling below what it costs to make them.

    Rarity is good.

I find the seeds on vendors for 50k. I sell them for 100 to 125k.

    Three ways.
Grow plants, fight rats, buy them and sell other items to afford them (gold neutral).

I know you so I don't think you'd tell a lie. I don't have time to walk around and check vendors, but I do use a whole bunch of the services. I've never seen a seed in my life cheaper than 250k. Not one time.

you SELL seeds of renewal for 100-125?

I'm growing 500 plants now and I have a standing order for 250k for ALL I can get forever... I'm probably going to expand to 1k a day. I could sell 1k seeds today for 250k each IF i had them.

I guess someone might get a couple at the cavern and sell them, but we don't need a couple we need 100s of them a week.

I didn't even read any of the other stuff because honestly what's the point. I get I'm bad. I don't know anything. I understand. I'm almost 50 now & I have gotten this ALL my life. I did however succeed everywhere I ever was including here. I really did take that many seeds before I got a seed of renewal.

You talk about the drop rate, but honestly how many plants are you growing a day? How many hours have you spent at the cavern getting these resources and gotten 0. I'll tell you what drops at the cavern in abundance Balance, Elven Fletching, Lodestones.

I no longer care what the drop rate is honestly. I've still got 8k lockdowns to work with. I can grow however many plants it takes.

  21. Yeah 125k on my vendors. I know you run the events. What I am saying is you get lots of good stuff. You can put your time in else where, like getting blue crystals, and begin to trade for the other stuff.

It really works. Lets say you need 10 seeds. You get 3 from gardening... Well work a trade for the other stuff. Its a lot less time consuming.

    Just a thought.

And if you have a standing order for 250k. Ill will sell you mine for a profit and then you can sell those for a profit. If you like the merchant way.

My top ten list for playing other shards:

    10. The character slots exist, why not use them and get my money's worth out of UO?

    9. It's something different and challenging to do by myself when I can't stay up late to play with my night owl guildmates. When I do see them, I get to harrass them into also spreading themselves even thinner and making more characters. Poo usually takes pity on me and makes a tamer that gets my human tamers cu sidhes. We create our own little ripple effect to make it look like lots of shards have gained new players.

    8. I get to see all kinds of unique EM-created buildings/structures and find other unexpected differences between shards (e.g., missing spawn, missing doors in dungeons and banks, a Clainin npc still lying in bed when he probably should have died a long time ago, etc.).

    7. I get to experiment with running characters that collect and carry reagents for spell casting instead of wearing LRC. Maybe I'll try it on Siege someday. Or if the developers decide to scrap the ability to have a true 100% LRC suit, I'll have some practice with the concept.

    6. I get to experiment with running characters that wear uninsured suits and carry weapons made up of the latest and best pieces pulled out of monster corpses. More practice for Siege?

    5. I never sign off UO grumbling about not getting skill or stat gains.

    4. It satisfies my need to build immense spreadsheets to keep track of all kinds of useless and trivial information.

    3. If a server supporting a group of shards crashes for any length of time, I still have lots of choices of other shards to play.

    2. I feel no pressure whatsoever to find and buy something ridiculously expensive to dress up a bank-sitting character or to use as a museum showpiece.

    1. Bank conversations and spam look so much more interesting / intelligent when they are in a foreign language.

Today I removed 600 seeds from 75 Orange Pampas and got 25 Renewal == 4.2%.

    Average over 1,104 seeds == 3.9%

    Results may vary!!! Greatly!
