Since when do you go grey stealing scrolls with 120 stealing!
Got my hands on a 25 stat scroll only to get caught up in a para field trap
    since I was grey.

120 stealing clearly is not all its cut out to be!

    It happens. Never 100%

Now if you failed to steal it then it would be a different story.

That's why it's better to just kill them. :)

you'll never fail a 1 stone at 120 stealing, but you wont have a 100% chance of not being noticed, being noticed is checked on each player nearby, and if you fail the check on ANY one of them you go gray, so basicly even though the chance of being noticed is slim if there are 20 people nearby the chance of being noticed by at least one of them is significant. basicly bind teleport to a key, and maybe keep a few trapped pouches on you just in case. It's basicly like MGS at that point, evade for a minute or so until the timer wears off then you're home free unless they have a red.

Ok I see thanks Raptor. I guess the 30 people standing bumped up the odds of me flagging as criminal.

Oh yeah. Given that circumstance I would be surprised if you didn't get caught, hehe.

Here's the theft forumla that was posted on a Five on Friday a long time ago:

UO Thief | 8.1: How is stealing calculated?

So yeah, you can treat every additional person as an additional "roll" (and not as a multiplier or something like that) to see if you're detected. So if you steal when 2 people are around, you have exactly 2x the probability of being detected versus stealing when 1 person is around. And if you steal when 6 people are around, you have exactly 3x the probability of being detected versus stealing when 2 people are around. Etc.
