Are there any plans to beef up 2 handed weapons? As it is, there's really no reason to use one. They damage output isn't any better, and since you lose shields and pots, what's the point?

    They need love.

    Thoughts?

Bushido,Evasion & Parry combined is now what 2 handers are for in my gameplay.
If you get a fast 2 hander its awesome.
Crescent Blades and Ornate Axes are my choices.

You can look this up but, there isn't a huge difference between two handed and one handed weapons for bushido parry. Infact, it's only 5% more with two handed weapons. So at 120 parry over 120 bushido, you'll have 40% as opposed to 35%.

2 handed weapons do not have higher damage output than 1 handed weapons.

  6. They have higher individual hits, which is what Sampires/Wammys need to keep themselves going.

  7. Ya, exactly. People are confusing damage per hit versus damage per second. In general, this higher damage weapons are slower (without SSI mod) with about the same damage per second. With good SSI from the weapon mod and equipment bonuses, these can be the best weapons in the game.

Its true DPS in the PvP world is what counts, You also have to consider that 2 hander are the only one that can dismount (knock a gargoyle out of flight)

No in PvM they are still very viable.

    1) Higher individual hits? On a couple of them maybe, but again there's lots of 1 handers that do more damage than lots of 2 handers.. so that argument doesn't make sense.

    2) You don't need a 2 hander to dismount.. (club, lance)

Thats what im saying. They should probably have *higher* damage per second, because they dissalow shields/pots.

  11. It makes sense when you realize that the 2 handers that don't aren't used by anyone.

That's a problem, don't you agree? No weapon should be totally discarded. There should always be a reason to use any given weapon, otherwise why have it in the game?

You can get fast, light-hitting 1 handers.
You can get fast, light-hitting 2 handers.

You can get slow, heavy-hitting 1 handers.
You can get slow, heavy-hitting 2 handers.

On the whole, they do roughly equal DPS.

Only difference? 2 handers block shields/pots. So again, why would you use them? There needs to be a tradeoff for the loss of shield mods/pot chugging.

The sad thing is, if the Dev's DO buff the mods, a day later people will be whining about it on the forums... Remember the original damage for the Ornate axe? 21-23? Was used constantly until it was nerfed. It's still used a lot though, not as much as A Bok for obvious reasons.

Well the ornate axe *was* legitimately ridiculous... did tons more damage than a halberd at a much quicker speed. Heck, it still does, to a lesser degree.

Well if you buff the damage like mentioned, you're going to have to buff the damage tables on the 2 handed side.... I stand by my statement.

  16. You also get 5% higher chance to Parry. As far as why you use them, I've already answered that. Sampires and Wammy's use them for the high damage hits, not to mention that the ornate has disarm as it's primary move as one example of PvP use.

You know gear in UO is borked when the guy in plate armor and a warhammer is a dumb noob, and the guy in leather wielding a purple meat cleaver is hardcore.

My comment on speed was largely over looked.
For PVM ssi slayer and Tali stacking mean good consistent hard hits & if you Honor your foe,you usually wish the spawn speed would increase.

I don't think this is exactly over speed, it's over 2 handed weapons not giving, to the OP's opinion, an amazing bonus over one handed to make them worth using, in his opinion.

    lol, well said

And as I've already replied, you can get the *same* high damage hits from certain 1 handers. (mauls, lances, etc). 5% parry chance isn't worth shield mods + pots.

for years now off and on i have been petitioning for all slow two handed weapons to swing with a 2 tile radius. that would be an unbelievably great step in the right direction...

Frankly, certain 2 handed weapons have it's place. No-dachi and Ornate Axe come to my mind.

    Slow weapons? Please...

Don't use them without descent SSI then...hello?!

If you want to use pots, don't use them. If you have real weapon macro skills...they do have their place.

Some have always been situational as it is. Think about it.

There's a problem with this... the 5% parry is with bushido, bushido disallows shield use... so you still loose shield mods. 120 parry without bushido is 20-25% with a shield. with 120 parry and 120 bushido, it's 35 for one handed, 40 for two handed, infact, two handed is always 5% more.

stupid reply. ever seen anyone successfully pvp with a ssi hally? they will get faceplanted. not only is it slower than an ornate axe, it has a lower base cdamage as well. there are others just a slow and unused as well because of this. large battleaxe comes to mind...
