please someone inform me of the details behind this .

ive been building poisoning on a mage . i was told that if your magery and poisoning equaled 200 you get better poison damage.

as in, if i have 110 mage i need 90 poisoning to make the 200 mark .

well, i hit my 200 goal the other day and honestly i dont see any difference in the way my poison hits .

    what am i missing here?

(this is on siege if it makes any difference)

Can't say I've ever heard of a "200 rule". Last I knew, having GM poisoning was supposed to increase the level of poison you'd deal using magery.

  3. Poisoning is a rather confusing skill but here's how I understand it:

For dexters it's easier. They can use the infectious strike move if they have sufficient skill for the level of poison applied to their blade. I think it's either 65 or 80 skill needed to be able to use Deadly Poison.
Dexters also get a chance to upgrade the applied poison by one level depening on their poisoning skill. 80 skill = 80% to upgrade, 100 skill = 100% to upgrade.

Mages only get benefits from the poisoning skill if their magery and poisoning skills add up to 200 in total. So there's your 'rule of 200'. If you meet this requirement your poison applied through spells will be upgraded by one level.
However, the poison spell (In Nox) only upgrades when you are within 1 tile range of your target. At greater distances it functions as normal. Poison fields (In Nox Grav) will always upgrade.

All this is assuming poisoning works the same on Siege as on normal Shards.

  4. it does. If you use in nox it only works within 1 tile to do max level poison. If from a distance it will only do level 1 poison. Poison fields do max allowed by skillpoints always.

with 200 points you will do deadly poison (wracked with extreme pain message)

This was true pre-AoS, but the math remains the same. Now that we have powerscrolls, you still only need 200 total magery+poison, so GM poison isn't truly a requirement.

  6. Your casting from too far away. Stand within 2 tiles.

Try some Poison Fields also. You'll notice it's higher then normal. And Poison Fields aren't dependent on how far away you cast them.

WTF is a "Dexter" lol I know what a "Dexer" is though...

Anyhow I am also curious now if I have 120 magery but only 60 poisoning my poison field will be bumped a level? If that is true then it sure does open a lot of doors I never considered before now.

You have to be within 2 tiles when you cast it to see a difference, unless you use poison fields

It only gets bumped with infectious strike. Poison and Poison Field magery spells are just based on the numbers.

i know about being next to a target . when i last played this guy he had gm mage 80 poison (last time i was on siege we didnt have powerscrolls)

now i could swear i was getting the extreemly message (deadly) then . i was hoping once i hit 200(110 + 90) id bump up to lethal . but im still geting the extreemly message .

perhapse i was wrong and am only now seeing extreemly ...

next question then . if i drive poisoning to 100 will that make any difference ?

or is playing with deadly even viable ? when i tried that i got my nox ass handed to me . its like it doesnt even go off (probably 120 resist on my target)

my thought here is if i cant get lethal here on siege i might as well hang it on a stone cause poeple are just gonna chug thru deadly like its nothing.

    any thoughts on that ?

  11. The only way to get lethal poison is through infectious strike on a weapon, or by using evil omen. You cannot cast it through In Nox normally, for its maximum is Deadly. You'd see no benefit from going above 80 poisoning if you have 120 magery.

Now, if you picked up fencing, your poison skill would translate into a percentage of how often you'd apply lethal poison. 80 poisoning = 80% chance to apply lethal poison via infectious strike.

yeah ... thats what i was thinkin ... someone suggested i try raising it to 100 . thought id ask.

    thanks y'all

maybe ill just stone poisoning and take up parry . 5 years ago poisoning was nice ... now it seems damn near useless.

the only thing im thinking now is eventually poeple will run out of potions .might still be usefull . i dunno maybe if i lay down a bunch of fields ...

  13. Correct me if I'm wrong, but cant you use infecteous strike on a -xx mage fencing weapon if you have 200 in magery + poison?

sounds great , but dont you need to have 90 tactics to use the special move ?

ill have to play with that idea a bit.

you still need the wep skill not tactics to perform that so to calculation is poisoning instead of tactics but magery doesnt replace the wep skill for specials

Yea, It may bump you up to greater poison. There is a chart someplace. I seem to get bumped up to regular poison just for being human.

    The Information Your Looking For....

    From
    Magic Spell Details Page

    Poison
Poisons your target. One of the best pvp spells in the game. Poison prevents bandages from healing damage, heal spells will also not work. Can be fully resisted at high resist magic levels. Does damage depending on the formula ((Magery + Poisoning) / 2):
    Less than 65.1 : Level 1 poison
    65.1 to 85 : Level 2 poison
    85.1 to 99.9 : Level 3 poison
    100 and higher : Level 4 poisoning

    Poison Field
Creates a wall of poison. Can be very effective in group combat. Damage levels are equal to those of the Poison spell. (i.e. level 4 poison for a true Nox Mage)
    Lasts for (3 + (Magery * 0.4)) seconds

The Chart that was mentioned for Dexers.....

Can Be Found on The Special Moves Page - Infectious Strike

While no skill in Poisoning is absolutely required to use this ability, being knowledgeable in the application and use of toxins will allow a character to use Infectious Strike at reduced mana cost and to inflict more deadly poison on his victim. With this change, weapons will no longer be corroded by poison. Level 5 poison will be possible when using this special move. Poisoning skill is not required, but without it you will only be able to inflict level 1 poisons on your victim.
The Poisoning skill will give a (Poisoning Skill)% chance to increase the level of poison delivered by 1. The blade must have poison applied to it. The power of the poison depends on the type of poison used and your poisoning skill.
With Poisoning skill 0.0 - 19.9 you can inflict Level 1 (with a chance of level 0)
With Poisoning skill 20.0 - 39.9 you can inflict level 2 (with a chance of level 3)
With Poisoning skill 40.0 - 59.9 you can inflict level 3 (with a chance of level 4)
With Poisoning skill 60.0 - 100.0 you can inflict level 4 (with a chance of level 5)

All information is still accurate. Lots more information on Poisoning in the Assassin's Forum.

    Q

While Poisoning might not be as effective as it used to be, it will still get thier attention. (especially if they get lethaled and they are in vamp form)
