*paces the ruined deck*
I want cannons.....NOW!
*smiles big.....remembers seeing cannons for sale on earlier thread..7 for 100K?*
Go get him Luka!!!
heavy cannons take 1800 ingots and 75 boards . given the prices listed on the vendor sticky its 54000 in iron and 750 in boards for a total of 54750 each in materials alone.
looks like you have the britanian which will need 9 cannons . so 492750 to make a full set plus whatever the crafter wants for labor.
the 7 lights i have in the auction are leftovers and im dumping those for a meer 100k (starting bid) . light cannons are more efficient in the long run (cost per shot including gunpowder vs total damage) but the heavys do more damage per second . so the choice is yours . i can craft you up a couple more lights to go with the 7 in my auction or drop roughly half a mill and ill bang out 9 pretty new heavys. hit me up on private message to exchange contact info if you want me to make the heavys .
ive got the ingots and the skills . you just have to wait for me to get home from work. =^_^=
Yeh 1800 ingot /75 boards and the boards is not even an issue but that many ingots hogged up just to make 'one' heavy cannon, when more per player ship is needed, is a lot of ingots. That and the cannons seem to fire too slowly too, as some have said.
Too bad the dev. team didn't make it more like 1k ingots and then of course even less for the light cannons, and also they shoulda made a way for the abandoned cannons, lt. or hvy. to some way be scooped up by folks, sailing the seas, finding cannons perched in the seas minus their ships, ships that were destroyed or decayed.
As for myself I have one elder blacksmith, Joesef, whom has no carpentry, and one GM carpenter, Miranda whom had no blacksmith skills. It takes minimum 65.0 smithing to even attempt the light cannons and 75-85 smith skill I think to make the heavy cannons, so I been tryin to up Miranda's smithing from 0.0. I hit 64.9 smithing only yesterday, since she already has gm carp. but I am not gonna toss carpentry, on my Joesef !
Meanwhile the amt of ingots being torched just to get to ROT on smithing is...probably enough to make a lot of heavy cannons. lol By the time I DO get there in smithing skill, ingots be shot to hell that one had in accesses in banks ! Least I am trying to ADD one more person on the shard whom *CAN* make cannons, eventually, probably for folks DONATING all the ingots more often, than for sale.
Would be nice if the Dev. team really looked at the amt of ingots consumed and made em LESS for both heavy and light cannons, really, whole concept of HS was to have SHIP FIGHTS ship vs ship or ship verses pirates, and it all got bogged down in too little salt peter, that should just be all over *all* the docks for sale via npcs and not for a fortune nor in puny amts. to make enough black pwd and heavy pwd charges, and needing too many ingots too, for the cannons, lots of folks whom *could* be using cannons 'more', if only they fixed High Seas to be more USER CUSTOMER FRIENDLY for every one to HAVE fun & not such a drugery ie fish quests.
*Ditto* for the magical fish pies ! My Hughes can make em & sells em now and then at his New Mag. home, but the sauces down at the dock are 4+k alone to MAKE them, plus the assorted fishes needed to be fished up some far rarer than other fishes in catchin em while fishing, and then when folks see the pies are 4k and up, yet the magic doesn't last quite as long as it should for the COST... well *sigh* it ain't easy tryin to sale/sell magical fish pies either !
But my WHOLE HOG no magics at all in em, DO SALE lol prob cuz folks just like WHOLE HOG BBQ sloooow cooked atop my UO *smokers*, buyin and eatin em when they got hungry, or for display in their own homes, or just for roleplay reasons only !
I hear ya. I have blacksmithing to 70 and carpentry is at 80.1 and I only have 6.4 chance of succeeding. That means losing even more supplies if I try.
Now on which cannons to use, I'd like some advise. I have lights on my Tok ship. I figured that would make sense since it is faster. So thats why was thiking to put heavies on the Brit. Those of you who have been doing pirate quests: What would you suggest for small crews? Say a crew of 4 or even 2.
*sneaks into Kelmo's castle to loot cloth for repairs*
Does this mean i have to set up a cannon vendor?
Luka, I upgraded my crafter's and my miner's accounts with High Seas a few days ago. I made one heavy cannon deed and about choked when I saw the number of ingots required. If you or anyone else find yourselves in need of more cannons, I'll be happy to help but probably will need you to supply at least part of the ingots. I haven't tried mining for niter yet. If/when I get that figured out, I might try setting up a ship supply vendor if it makes sense to do so. (Guildmates may claim the stuff first though. Poo and I have a guildie who dearly loves his orc ships. Hopefully once we get through July and RL stuff everyone's got going on, we may finally lure him here more permanently. Someday maybe you'll actually see [4H] sailing the seas on Siege!)
Thanks for the cannons!!
Yes it does take a lot and whoooo...took a lot of cloth and boards to fix my ship!
Now I am ready to go meet this dread pirates challenge!!
When my boat fell foul of the drunken pirate I got a ransom demand for my seacharts. Which I paid btw.
Yes ya should and so should any one of us that can make cannons and ammo,
& cuz atm I am not high enough smith to make cannons yet *here*
[workin on it though].
Meanwhile, I seem to be apparently at war over yonder,
some scally wag pirates try sneakin' a lil spy dingy,
at my N1 feluccan back yard overnight, on Crashapeake.
I had to quickly giveth the order for a blockade of ships,
to surround their lil spy ship dingy, earlier today,
and my smith is cranking up more ammo and cannons,
cuz me thinks there gonna be ship war over yonder,
and well...one MUST defend one's own sea isle backyard,
on any New Magincias anywhere, esp feluccan ones !!
Should that happen here .... player vs player ship wars, *gasp*
we may be short of cannons and ammo here,
we all need to get crackin on makin MORE if we can,
stockpiling it all, in case some warring pirate guilds here,
declare war, on all the folks here, too !
Never know ! BE PREPARED as the scout motto says !
I would LOVE this. *searches the shoreline for drunken pirates*
Well Mongbat Ranch officialy has a Cannon Vendor and a Cannon Ammo Vendor. Enjoy! oh theres also a new vet reward vendor and a vendor that will be selling faction dyed items.
