I don't find the current window small...

I rarely play the enhanced client but I remember the the view distance being exactly the same. So that is what I am reading here, that you want a bigger window without zoom which means farther distance right? So if we have a larger play window to view farther then it would needed to be changed in both clients to be fair.

    This... x 10...and some...

stop requesting "features" for an obsolete client. Go crazy, leave the previous millennium behind and join 2011.

  6. I have no interest in playing the EC, but like i stated before it would be nice on a 24in monitor to have a larger play screen on the CC.

If a bigger screen size were important to me, I'd just go EC.

    It isn't and I won't.

Until I can see my Hildebrandt dragons in all their glory, and in their proper colours, CC will do me just fine.

playing cc in 1920x1200 or 2560x1600is horrible... to much black space. and I can't stand the ec.

so yes, make the cc able to work with what is the current... who the hell still views **** at 800x600 lol.

We like having good, if old-style, graphics over the low quality EC graphics. The CC also still edges out the EC as a User Interface. Why so many are sticking with it.

A lot of those who complain about the CC game window being so small just need to adjust their screen settings to something like 1360x768 which makes the game window fit the screen well.

The 1920x1080 'native resolution' of my monitor gives smaller than phonebook text on the screen which is annoying. Shoot it rivals the fine print on the back of over-the-counter medicine packages. I set the screen resolution to 1360x768 and let the monitor's auto-adjust feature do it's thing so I can have decent sized text.

Keep the CC supported in terms of keeping it running.

Save the ENHANCEMENTS for the ENHANCED client.

As for the artwork/graphics, let's see what's in the works for the graphics update as stated last HoC and HOPE that they make the difference they need to make.

Rofl This is so untrue... you have it backwards

It takes a person a while to adjust to a better interface! I suggest people give it a chance (meaning more than a hour) to get to know it!

I do agree with the graphics point above dragons should be their own colors like in CC !

If UO decided to leave the previous millennium behind, I can promise that they would lose my subscriptions. Forever. And I'm sure I'm not alone in that regard.

But, on the topic at hand: A larger play area would be nice, but I'm doing ok with what I have now. If my monitor were bigger than it is, it might become a problem.

I'd like it big enough to see where spells that hit me from off screen are coming from, or What is targeting me, which means an additional half screen, rather than just the underline 'bar' which I can't target.
    does the EC do this?

I'd love to see the 2d play window increased, I still use 2d on an older machine and even that uses a larger res than 800x600! :p

I use EC almost entirely for the UI though so it wouldn't make me use 2d more.

I'm pretty much in the same boat.....

Though I think if everyone who's machine is able to run the EC would dedicate themselves to training from scratch 1 new character completely in the EC, it would win over tons of folks.

The reason I say this? I did it, finding out how to make macro's for training a character and then seeing how those could convert over to play made a huge difference.

For example, I have most my combative spells set to "Target Current", and healing/buff spells to "Target Self" or "Target Cursor". I never have to target a monster/player more than once... I don't have to look through half a dozen slayer weaps/books in a characters pack... I have a hotkey to swap out each and every one.

When I get rezed I'm re-equipped quicker than any UO Assist macro, for my Sampire that carries a few pieces of LRC gear for casting Vampric embrace I have a hotkey to gear him to his LRC pieces then another to swap them for standard gear. I have buttons on the hotbar for my ethies, I have them for runebooks, no searching! I never lose count of bandages, arrows etc I never have to pull a hotbar for any creature/player the Client does it for me.

When I'm filling Bulk Order Deeds, the grid view packs make combining items with Bods faster, when crafting I don't have to look through things one by one shifting stuff to find that "Keeper" item. When I ware out a tool I just click on my hotbar to use the next one, and I always know how many tools I have available for those long crafting runs, no stopping to tinker a few for me.

I don't have a single "Cluttered" chest in my house, everything is laid out nice and neat for me to view. Thanks to the UI I'm using I know what an item will unravel to just by mousing over, no more collecting tons of items hoping 1-2 will unravel to Relics, I loot with just a right click on an item. When I go shopping and someone has a 30 bajillion scrolls stuffed in a tiny bag, I don't worry I can see each and every one.

The benefits of the EC far out weigh it's negatives, and I understand for some folks using it simply isn't an option. For the rest, try it, really try it give it a week of attention. It will grow on ya, make you wonder after a while why you didn't try it earlier.

How big is your display? The fullscreen resolution of the EC only goes up to 2560x1418, which means that what you can see only goes up to 2560x1418.

You maybe able to see a larger area than 2560x1418 but I have a feeling it would get laggy in some areas. You'd probably have to mess around with some settings files to go larger than 2560x1418. I'd hate to walk around Luna with 2560x1418 and I have a good computer.

What happened to leaving CC for ancient systems. Start trying to make CC EC and those antiques will have to be tossed out. Pulling the string out of the can on the pole called their internet service. Scaring the horses still hitched to the bucwagon in the front yard.

Play EC, have a coke and a smile. All the hangups of EC just reminds me of the first years of UO. Just have to mash less keys.

My monitor is a 42" HDTV.

And the EC looks sweet on it.

Granted YES I do miss the way my poor dragon Used to look in the 2d client... and I have complained LOUDLY about it.

But As for function and all you can't beat the EC. It's vastly better than 2d with or without UOAssist.

I have over 50 characters and I can make ONE template on my speedpad and use it for ALL of my characters. NO more switching from one template to another everytime I switch characters. No more making complicated macro's in UOAssist. The ease of the EC with Pinco's UI is so sweet it's not even funny.

And at the big finally of Virtuebane is was super easy for me to find the "True" virtuebane.

I'd prefer 2d went the way of the dinosaurs.... and became extinct.... so the DEV's could put all their work and time into improving other things than wasting time on an old relic like 2d.

I was and still am a lover of the CC, mainly because the world looks like it fits with all the graphics. The EC graphics do take some getting used to, and I'm still not completely satisfied with them. some stuff is just weird(trees for one) but some stuff is alot better, such as dungeon/cave entrances are much better. I think mountains(exterior) are better. The spell animations are amazing compared to CC.

Now, I just switched to devoting myself fulltime to the EC two days ago on being helped by a guildmate with a character. He implored me to give it a try and in the end I would be a better hunter for it. So I said ok. Two days in and everything Nexus wrote is OH SO TRUE. so very very true. My carpal tunnel is no more. Never again will i drag a piece of loot to my body or pack, never again will I have to wonder about so many things with item properties etc... and i'm only two days in. I can't imagine how useful this will be once I really get the hang of it and get all the macros ill need set.

Not to mention the ease of looting when theres twenty dead monsters on top of each other. In the EC you use CTRL+SHIFT and as you dclick to bring up their bodies, the names dissappear. and you will NEVER loot that body again using CTRL+SHIFT unless you choose to clear ignored. Its amazing. So freaking easy looting. That alone is worth it to me. My hand is in aching pain after a long day of hunting. Not with the EC.

IMO Nexus couldn't have said it better. This coming from a DIE HARD CC user. I LOVE the CC graphics. LOVE THEM.

I would like to see EA take the short term hit in subs against the bigger picture advantages that developing and supporting one client would offer. Stop allowing these people to dictate serious design decisions and just put it on the table, sack up, and defend your position.

As time marches on so must the machines that people play on, eventually your 90's era computer will be obsolete for all but Dosbox. You people have already killed one awesome client, I would surely hope the devs don't back down again.

I know there are quite a few who disagree with this position and that's fine just my opinion.

There are a couple of reasons I haven't switched to the EC. Two of which are:

    1. The art.
    2. The grid backpacks.

    In detail-
    1. The representation of dragons in the CC is just simply beautiful. It reminds me of the D&D Red Box cover done by Larry Elmore. In the EC...they are dreadful. The terrain is just simply aweful. Muddy is a pretty accurate description.

    2. Right now in the EC when I open my backpack the grid lines go above and below the pack. It looks horrible and half ass done. And don't try to go into the update your driver, blah blah blah. I have tried every release of driver for my video card in order to fix the issue, I run a fully upto date system (card is an nVidia 8800 GT, OS is Vista Ultimate 64 bit, 8 gig ram).

EC is not PvP friendly. Those who tend to do more Trammel based events are good with EC, and I do see the benefit in it. Those of us who do primarily PvP and/or Fel based events simply can not use EC. I'm sure there are those out there who PvP with EC, but I have never known anyone to do so.

Can you explain why the EC isn't good for PvP? Currently i only use the EC when i am going to work a dangerous spawn, as the macros and hotkeys are better ... i would figure this would also apply to PvP, but it obviously doesnt. Can you go into a little detail as to why?

Also, for me, the EC is just horrible for anything non-combat related. Trying to deco a house or craft in the EC is bloody painful.

    Thanks Woodsman, currently, I'm 1440x900 on a 19" W.S. w/ a ATI Radeon Xpress 200M series card (laptop w/ Intel Celeron M upc)
So I could get a Much, a Lot, or a Little, bigger view over the CC?
When I see people say their EC crashes, are they in a certain area, doing certain things, particular settings, unique to them, or does it just up and die sometimes?

I have a 42" plasma, but its native vga =1024x768, poo

A ton of reasons actually, but the primary complaint is the targeting system. Also, PvP was not tested in EC beta, and they flat out said they weren't going to support PvP testing. I would love to be able to insta-switch suits on the fly tho.

I can understand the deco part a little bit, but with some practice it is doable as well.

Crafting works fine for me and as for PvP... I pvp exclusivly with the EC and i"d say it is superior to the old client (as long as you are not running any hacks). Ask around on Drachenfels - while I might not be the very best, I am considered a pretty good PvPer.

The targeting system point is totally in vain, as you can use legacy targeting if you want.

I'm glad it works for you. Most PvPers won't use it tho, especially those who have tried it.

I'm not an authority on PvP but I can say this, I find the EC to give me an easier time with PvP when the group I play with get raided at spawns.

I'm sure most of us have seen those groups of PvPers that when they show up, they are either so quick you can't grab a life bar to target them, or as soon as they appear you get hit with sever lag. Neither of these has been an issue since I've switched to the EC. Come to think of it I haven't found anyone I can't keep up with while on the EC as long as we were both on either foot or mounted.

That is just plain and simply not true.

    1. You cannot speak for the majority of PvPer - how would you know what they think?!

    2. I know quite a few who either tried the EC and by that I mean playing it for a few days not only half an hour) and then stuck to it or openly admit it is a good client but they were to lazy get used to it (which is totally within their rights to do so). many others just ***** and wont even try.

Calm down, studly. Just telling you my experience from years of PvPing, knowing many PvPer's across multiple shards, and reading stratics forums. As I said, there are likely some who use it, as evidenced by you and Nexus' admissions of such, but it's more the exception than the rule.

Regardless, the point was mostly for those who think 2d should go away and force everyone to play EC. They won't do it cause they know they'd lose a large percentage of the PvP community that way. EC != CC for PvP.

No it doesn't, but for some of us it actually fits our style of game play better so in our case it's EC > CC. It's another of those completely subjective subjects that varies from individual to individual.

Like I said though I'm not an authority, me and a group of friends do spawns somewhat regularly and as it happens we get raided on a portion of those spawns. It used to be we'd either cut and run or die, I was almost completely ineffective myself, but as we've improved as a group, and since I've learned some tricks on the EC since switching to it our group and my own fate has improved greatly. I'm not saying the EC is simply better for PvP, I'm saying for myself the level of customization you can do in terms of hotbars, combined with stock EC features etc has made PvP easier for me. Now it's we either get rolled (which there's always a chance of), We hold our own and the spawn goes back and forth until one side kills the champ and we all break with the scrolls, or we Beat off the Raid. Part of that is improvement in the PvP abilities of us as players, I know for me part of that is experience with the features of the EC that simplify things for me and help level the field.

I do not care wether CC sticks around or goes the way of the dodo. If people want to play it old school - let them.

Just don"t try and make the devs put too much energy in it. Theres a reason they did a new client and not upgrade the old one. I cannot start to imagine how it must be to work with 13 year old code that has seen more devs than your average ho customers....

There are many people spreading misconceptions in this thread. I won't dispel them because they are obvious to anyone who log into the game regularly. However, I do wish to give my opinion on a couple of points.

Unfortunately this isn't a good business decision. Good companies shouldn't ignore one sector of their customer base for new business. After all, the new customers will eventually become old customer and some day a new decision that will affect them will happen some day. Companies should work to keep all customers first, pick up new later. But then again, we are talking about EA.

As to this comment, I just want to say that the EC does not work on all new computers. My computers have Athalon processors and the EC runs real sluggish. I have tried 4 different computers with Athalon processors and they all have modern architectures and the EC runs poorly. I wish that it did run better because I am itching to try out Pinco's tools.

As to the point of this thread, I would say that I too would like to be able to target, or even see, what is targeting me from off screen.

It happens all the time so it must not be to terrible, it's natural that customers will drop off and be replaced with just about any product. I mean if you look back to UO's history there are points where decisions were made that cost them a portion of subscribers.

I cannot speak for every new computer but it runs smooth on both of my computers, one of which is only a few months old running an I9 with Windows 7.

I would like to see it.

I've tried the EC and I think it looks rubbish! Lots of the pets look ridiculous, I seem to glide rather than run. I hate how if I zoom out a bit things pop into play right when I'm on top of them. Why not reward the people who have moved to the EC with an option to see further? I guess that's why it does it.

Sort that out and I'll give it another go, until then, give us a bigger play window on the CC!

You know I've been wondering about this. I'm wondering if they differences in data handling between Intel and AMD processors is a factor in EC stability and performance...

There's obviously a difference especially once you shift to 64 bit processors.

The EC doesn't natively support 64-bit processors, its why when you install it on a 64 bit Windows machine it winds up in a Program Files x86 folder instead of plain ol' program files.

*** Decided to investigate this a bit.. Please if you've run the EC or have had problems running the EC check out this thread...

Yes, this does happen all the time. This doesn't make it the best thing to do. After all, you can't make a customer out of a non-customer if they have no interest in your product.

All games will lose some people simply from life issues, or other. I was just saying it would be best to not pull a Star Wars Galaxies and do the better thing and pull an Eve Online.

Of course we need larger play window option on client settings. It's not even discussed.

But Mythic just doesn't want to do it, because they needs to shove **** under the name 'Enhanced Client' with ****y UI, engine and etc.

This! Is one of the biggest reasons I wont switch... when the ground textures and this are fixed I'll consider it also id really like the character art fixed darker lines to distinguish where one object starts and another ends...
