Someone said in chat that 13 year vets will have a skill cap of 750. Is this true? Was this discussed at the town hall? Thanks in advance

Not discussed at the town hall and would be very unbalancing...

I can't imagine it would happen.

I vote no. As much as I would like an extra 30 skill points, it would be horribly unbalancing.. especially in the PvP aspect of the game.

Definitely NOT based on anything at the Town Hall.

The devs did comment about how some rumors take on lives of their own, and people end up trying to say the devs said something that they didn't. But that was in reference to other rumors (like the free2play nonsense).

On the other hand, while it appears we'll never have a boxed set again on this side of the Pacific, the way Cal hemmed and hawed around the related game card question may indicate that some sort of Mythic/Bioware or maybe even EA game card for general use might eventually hit the stores, but it was too early for him to even comment on that possibility woithout getting in trouble.

After all, if Facebook app companies can sell cards in 7-Elevens for game stuff, it shouldn't be hard to get a new game card set up for UO/DAOC/WAR/SWTOR or use at the EA Store.

All the rumors and half-answers lately from the devs on the UOGAMECODES and EA store would seem to indicate to me that there's extreme dissatisfaction with one or both store contractors, and that the only reason that they still exist in current form, is that they have to wait out the contract in order to replace them with someone more competant.

No. Also, lets get rid of the 4 year wait on new accounts to get up to a full 720. Make it a quest to get each +5, that costs lots of money and time, but which anyone can do to get up to speed.

Its not helping to attract new players to say you gotta wait 4 years to have the same skillcap as vets.

Make it 4 years and/or quests (so that if you don't do the quests you automatically get the 5 point increments with the aging as currently, but quests just let you speed it up), and I'd be with it.

Otherwise, you'd just end up with people wondering why it stopped after 4 quests.

    THIS!

Should have been done a long time ago
New people I play with aren't happy about
It. No benefit to keep this up except
    To anger newer players.

Confused. Is this not a subscription based game? If there is no rewards worth staying active for long time and everyone can have everything in 1 month of playing therefore ending the game why would they want to continue paying for the game after they finished?

The cap should be raised. That said by how much?
Not sure if anyone remembers them playing with this in Beta... 1000, 800... then settling down to the 700 we got.
1000 would broaden the base for master characters to be made. A whole new ballgame not just for the PVP's hehe Crafters would be in 7th heaven. Tamers could have a dual use outside the pet/mage they got now. Actualy cutting down the need for more character slots. But this number I highly doubt they would consider.
What I do see as a possible is 100 to the base we have now. This might help the masses and not cause too much fuss.

Right now we sit at 720, thats without the adition of jewelry, and cothes that add to the #. I cant see too much wrong with going to 820.

Even as a confirmed non-PvP player,I can see a huge problem with this concept - as a fairly 'old' vet, why should I be given an advantage over other characters, just because I've been around a long time? Isn't 13 years of experience and knowledge enough?

A balanced PvP should surely mean, as people keep claiming they want, that it's down to the skills and knowledge of the player in using the character skills and equipment to compete with others. That competition surely needs a fair base point to fight from. Making it possible for someone to do even better in that aspect of the game simply through account age means a vast number of those enjoying PvP see it get much harder against those 'old folks', whilst for those older accounts what many enjoy about the fight is reduced because they are being given an inbuilt advantage over the younger ones.

Veteran rewards should be useful and fun to own, but not allow any particular advantage over others except maybe convenience in some minor or routine things.

As for 'what should I get for having paid subs for 12 or 13 years' - the answer is 12-13 years of fun and enjoyment in the best mmo around, anything else is a nice bonus but it sure as hell isn't a reason for paying to play....

I don't beleive there should be balance in a game such as this. Chess yea poxnora yea WOW came from a strategy game so yea but role playing games nah not only is unrealistic it's imposible unless you turn it into a strategy game.
There will always be someone stronger, a skill thats better, a person with more time or a person smarter playing in non-pvp and pvp.
So as vet rewards you have contributed so much to maintaining UO that you deserve a reward just like if you have a pay account you can dio more than a free account. Nothing like instant super god mode but something useful and unique for vets that actually can be used in game for something and they should stop making the game easy mode as well for everyone. Were mostly old schoolers we want a challenge like the old nintendo games seemingly we stil in the same graphics might as well keep the same game play.

Still there should always be a reason to play UO so that people continue paying for it in subscriptions. Though it looks like there removing many reasons to continue paying for it and relying on burst packages for income instead of subscriptions.

Yes... the game will never be balanced.. but why make it purposely imbalanced... they change skills to make it more even.. not to make it less...

The 2 hit kill templates of the past... if the game was really meant to be never balanced... why change these skills? why not just have 2 hit killer... obvious reason.. bcz its stupid and ruins the game for other ppl. Same goes for the skill cap... 20 skill points may seem little... and if it does to you why not just give other the 20 skill points bcz its "barely anything"... but for those who say its actually a lot.. i.e: me... then theres even more reason to give it to them bcz its actually a big deal... i debate whether i hv 120 magery or 115.. if im that picky about a tiny 5 skill points.. imagine 20 points i am losing out on :(

note: i do hv a 4+ account... but i just think for the sake of the longevity of UO... the 20 skill points should either be taken away... or give to everyone.... or just make it 720 skill pt cap for fel only... i.e: you train in tram to 100.. but then add a "fel skill pt" tab which u can allocate the extra 20 skill points... this way in tram yes u get a penalty... but in fel everyone is even.

    I agree.

i think that Veteran Reward need to be appealing and interesting to players and the higher the year the more interesting the reward should be in order to be a motivation (among others, sure, but still a motivation of its own....) for a player, to keep an account as active so as to qualify, eventually, given time, for that appealing Veteran Reward.

I think that if the rewards were dull, not interesting and not tied to years of age of the account, then the motivation of keeping the account as active to eventually qualify for the active account age that earns that particular Veteran reward would fall through and the player would have less reasons to keep an account as active.

So, as I see it, having Veteran rewards tied to years of active account age which lead to earning interesting, nice and desirable items depending on the active age of the account are a good way for the game to secure revenues and offer another reason to players to maintain their accounts as active.

Too much to handle??? Some of us paid??? Someone like ME! (if you had bothered to read - my account age is in my signature)

My account is already past 13 years and I still say no! The 12th year house tele's were great and I'd like to see that topped for the 13th year- but not by something that unbalances game play for everyone who has not been around that long.
