While it'd be cool as hell, it'd take a lot of work, even with the EC which is "modern". We'd see a Mac OS X app before we saw a mobile app, especially since Gamebryo supports Mac OS X.

Ironically I was just thinking about this earlier today (not for the first time, but for the first time in a while.)

I think the best chance we have of seeing UO on a smart phone is if someone can get WINE running properly on android.

Of course I would love an actual EA developed app but I think that has about the same chance of happening as me winning the lottery (and I don't play.) rolleyes:

I know I'm sort of off topic here, Zosimus is asking about an app to play the actual game... but here the UO mobile apps I'm working on... mobile apps of the UltimaXbar.

    Android...

    iPad...

    iPhone...

Also for Bada, Nokia, RIM, and WP7. These will mobile versions of the UltimaXbar browser app... an aggregation fan service for the UO community. Links, feeds, media, etc. for the community.

Well when they make apps that where you can have interaction in the game with your guild members in the game and actually viewing what is going on is epic. Makes it easier for officers and GM's of guilds to know whats going on if they cant be in the game.

Playing would be a bonus lol but just to be able to view and interact your guidmates when you are not at the computer is a big plus. When you have huge guilds and not all officers or the GM can be on at the same time and issues arise or help is needed an app like GW2 helps immensely.

I should of clarified in my original post for UO the EC client since that is more up to date then compared to the CC.

Personally I'd be satisfied with an app for iPad that let's me display and activate my macros on the iPad, like hotkeys and such

There is an Ipad App like that for custom keypads . Its fully programmable to allow custom macro key combos as well.

Basically it acts like a keyboard extension thats programmable. Its awesome lol

There is a new version of some virtualization software, Parallels Desktop, for Macs out, and it's got an iPhone/iPad app that lets you fully manage/use your Windows VMs over the network through the iPad

If I were running UO through Parallels instead of Crossover, I'd be trying it out. I'm sure there would be some lag, but it might be useable on an iPad 2.

You would need to build UO from source for ARM and then run it on WINE for ARM or use qemu to run x86 apps on ARM. Option 2 would be very slow.

Now if you had a tablet with an Intel x86 chip such as the Atom, it would be easy to get UO up and running.

I have a the full desktop version of Ubuntu running on my HP Touchpad tablet and wish it worked.

I was one of the lucky ones that got 2 HP touchpads when they dropped the price on the 32 model for a $150.00 a piece. Well I should thank my sister for that since she ran out and got them for me while I was out of the country at the time. Not sure if you already know this but HP is going to bring them out again to get rid of overstock they had left before Oct 29th so keep an eye out on the stores that carry them.

Now one of those were a demo model which I did the work around (webdoctor) on it got it fully working

It's nice but I havent loaded any games on it to try but man it runs sweet.
