A little frustrated training sampire

I've recently returned and I'm getting as frustrated as I did when I quit. I changed my wannabe pally into a sampire way back when. Anywho, I don't have a lot of cash (maybe 300k) but have limped along OK. My problem is the same as it was when I quit last time. I either fight opponents that are comically easy or impossibly hard.
    My skills are as follows:
    110 Swords (max'd - can't afford 120 scroll)
102.3 Bush (max 110 - again, can't afford 120 scroll, not that it's that important right now)
95.2 Parry (max 100 - haven't even looked for scroll to be honest)
    100 Tactics
    100 Anat
    100 Necro
    62.7 Chiv

I have all 70s suit with 42 DCI. Sadly I don't have too much else for bonuses (did I mention I was poor). I'm wondering what I can fight, other than trogs. I have repond, reptile, dragon, scorpion, bear, flame, ice, ogre, and terathan slayers. BTW, I've tried Miasma and can't seem to win - if I could fight her alone I'd be OK but with Miasma and Minotaurs beating on me I get killed every time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you using a Swampy? With Exceptional Barding it will absorb 20% damage. Until your skills are at the 110 mark aviod Miasma. It also looks like your missing a way to heal yourself. Find away to fit healing in or dump Anatomy for SS. Then you can use curse weapon to keep yourself alive. & use SS near dead corpse to regain some life. Are you using healing pots? Are you using the weapon special feint? & you need to find some way to fit the DCI in.

get your soul seeker and a rat slaying talisman then go whirlwind the rat spawns in cavern of discarded. Just do the mage/melee ratman ones, avoid the archer spawn for now.

Farm up enough imbue ingredients and sell them for gold then trade gold for scroll. (you might get luck and get arty that will sell for enough to pay for your scrolls in 1 item!)

Scroll up then go train some more while farming, use the gold to upgrade your gear.

Once you have done this you should be ready for practice to kill boss type mobs.

what the other two said, though i might be tempted to swap parry for healing or SS.

imo all 70s isnt the most important thing when new - as you're mainly fighting vs physical and fire, maybe occasional energy and poison, rarely cold. try and find a few mods for 20% lmc/HPI/MI/SI any of those. If u post on your shard forum, im sure a friendly imbuer will be willing to help you...

Minotaurs and miasma is easy. Byuy some invis potions ad lure everything from the lab door to miasma to the door, then go outside! Use the invis pots to de-agro then it'll be just you and miasma, 2k every 10 seconds 12k per min, 72k per hour easy...plus arties/chests/loot.
If you just kill the minotaurs rather than luring them, they'll just respawn in your agro range again...

you gotta learn to tip the odds in you favour with anything you can like zalan says; petals, pots, feint, slayers, barded dragons, curse weap and luring.

Like NBG said also, it's great if you can farm where you get rewards other than gold - arties, scrolls or regs - means occasionally you'll get a massive boost )
Whether that be champ spawns, ter muir (?) treasures of tokuno (when it's active) EM events, paragons, doom etc etc...

    play smarter not harder :p

or you could always just make a crafter and craft yourself some gear....

  5. If you want to play with maisma, get a Bovine slayer talisman then kill off all of the minotaurs before going after miasma. I use a macro to swap my talisman slayers with my Arms Primer, and visa versa. With a Bovine slayer and Consecrate Weapon, the minotaur go down in 3 or 4 hits. If you are having trouble with hit points while being poisoned from miasma, cast curse weapon for a lot of extra life leech.

With those stats you should be able to take miasma. It comes down to what weapon you are using and what your stats are. If in vamp you should stay alive through the mortal, the only other issue is the poison which I guess you are cleansing by fire.

ok first things first, if you cant afford a 120 sword scroll you need a 115. sword skill plays a large part in the formula controlling the amount you hit your enemy AND get hit by enemy. therefore it is majorly important to be as high as possible.

that said, miasma became a cakewalk for me at 102 swords. As of this posting, I'm 107 swords, 100 healing/anat/tac, 102 bush, 71 chiv, 99 nec. Obviously still training. my sampy is in random drop armor, 70 phys, 60 fire, 56 poison, 15 LMC (lawls), not a great suit.

what I do have which is nice is a nice whirlwind weapon: 55 HML, 44 HSL, 45 DI, 44 HLA, 50 Hit area Cold. no SSI on weap, that is going to be on my suit. When I finish it! So for right now I'm not swinging at cap, I have 135 sta and 5ssi cloak.

i go in and kill the minotaurs and wandering reptalons FIRST. i can actually take miasma with minotaurs (couple of them) beating on me if i have to but I prefer not to.

i dont have a bovine slayer and dont really need one, they die fast. BUT its important to realize the SCOUT minotaur and CAPTAIN type minotaurs are different as far as EOO are concerned. If you EOO a scout, the captain will not be orange! So depending which you are using, if you have mixed minos in there, some of them are going to be thrashing you. Be aware of this or don't use EOO! the minos will also stun you so bring a trapped box.

killing reptalons is a little scary because your health bar jumps around a lot in large chunks. overall though I found it pretty easy to kill a reptalon but i will sometimes run off and hit a bandage if I get hit too many times. I will EOO then honor a reptalon. if i dont get both off, with my shoddy gear, I die.

Remember! If you change to fighting another monster (mino, to reptalon, to miasma) you can re-cast EOO to get the bonus against the new creature.

Ok now Miasma. I found the key here was getting honor off. I can do her with or without EOO, doesn't matter. But if I miss my honor, I have a much harder time and end up backing off to bandy/divine/cleanse wounds way more often.

Again I don't even have a miasma slayer crafted, this is all just using my generic radiant scimitar which is built for whirlwind not 1 on 1 boss killing. The HLA on my weap is kind of like a Ghetto Feint.

The reptalons actually seem harder than her to me.

    good luck!

So I've conquored Miasma and now I am looking for what next I can kill myself with my horrible suit! lmao!

  8. I pretty much agree with this, just adding a couple things to make it even easier.

For both miasma and all the minotaur, a 100% fire damage weapon will give a huge damage bonus even over Consecrate Weapon.

Next, with a Bovine slayer tali (for all minotaur), scorpion slayer (for miasma) and a dragon slayer (for reptalons) you won't ever need to use EOO. Not having to cast EOO means you won't suffer the damage bonus other creatures will deal to you and makes it MUCH easier. Set these up with macro keys to swap in and out.

Last, I use a macro to Target Nearest Enemy, Honor, Attack Nearest Enemy. This way I never miss Honoring miasma (or anything else), and it is much faster than pulling health bars especially when the corpse pile up.

How is that? Doesn't Consecrate Weapon hit the weakest resist?

why bother? just leech through it??

I am also confused by this, I was under the impression consecrate would make it attack the lowest resist. So if lowest is fire, you don't need a fire weapon, just use consecrate. Fire weapon is just nicer to use as you don't have to use consecrate. Is this not correct?

This is correct on every point.

  13. I don't know the answer to that, and could be mistaken. I tested it once, but am planning to test that again. CW does hit the lowest resist, but I am getting more damage with a 100% elemental weapon than the same weapon that is 100% physical and using CW. It may be something else I am doing because I just talked to someone else who tested that on Navery and didn't see any difference.

Thanks to imbuing it's easier (though expensive) to test.

    So hows that test going?

  15. I won't be able to test this until Sunday or Monday... trying to put up 1,000 bales of hay this weekend! In the meantime, if anyone else can test this it would be appreciated.

  16. Okay, my mistake... tested it and Consecrate Weapon does indeed hit for 100% elemental damage to the lowest resist.

Only advantage for 100% elemental damage is not having to cast CW in the first place... which is a huge advantage if you get mana vamped and have no magic resist (which would be me!).

OK, well, there's certainly a lot of info here - thanks for all the great replies. I'll have to try some of the tactics mentioned here, like using the invis potions. Also, I have Elder Smith (another char looking for a 120 scroll), GM Tailor, and GM Imbuer which I used to make a Radiant Scim Scorp Slayer with 40 DI, 55 HML, 20 HSL. Is that a decent enough weapon? Unfortunately, I can't craft a bovine slayer, so have to buy or play the Heartwood lotto. It sounds like I need to redo my armor as well. I don't have any frags so I can't just imbue any property, but I do have one spined kit. I'm guessing I should run thru that and see if I get any LMC items. Also, the only bovine slayer I've found on Atlantic is 500k and a 115 Sword scroll is about 700k. I assume the 115 scroll is what I should try to pick up first?

why is the hsl so low (20), did you run out of weight room? if it keeps your sta up that wuold be your answer, if not maybe tweak something down a bit. unless your stam is ungodly low you wouldnt need much ssi on the weap. mine doesnt even have ssi.

i would buy the sword scroll, you will be able to apply the bonuses from having higher swords to all creatures, vs buying a bovine talisman that lets you only be good in one area.

Yes, the hsl is low because I imbued when my imbuer was still in mid-90s (can't remember exact skill). I need to go back and re-imbue that.
Working on selling smithing stuff so I can purchase scroll. Hope to get in next day or two depending on how sales go. Thanks again for all the great info.
