Actually a few of them :)

    1. Please remove the restriction that keeps new accounts from playing on Siege, it would be nice if players could start out here too, and not just hear rumors about siege 8 months after they're settled, have a house, etc... on a different shard. A lot of players play 1 shard and 1 shard only, not being on the shard list that initially shows up when choosing where to play really hurts us.

    2. Can you look into fixing factions on siege, it was broken in a recent patch here to fix people going into statloss in tram on other shards, now when we get faction kills they only count if it's in fel (here faction fighting happens on every facet though, since it's all fel ruleset, so when I kill an opposing factioner in the abyss right now it doesn't count)

    3. Can the price of saltpeter and the fish sauces be adjusted here, the cost was set based on the economy of other shards and since we have the 3x cost on all NPC shops we got 3x that, for instance, resources alone for the fish pies cost 5k gold here, which makes them far too expensive to use, and the saltpeter costs makes it cost a few k per shot, averaging about 50k gold worth of resources to sink one ship (and our economy is different, if you want to know how much this gold is worth here in ATL terms add a 0 at the end of each of my numbers)

Raptor, I guilded someone into NEW this week who said he was playing on a trial account. He couldn't use power scrolls but apparently had no problem creating a character on Siege. Are you looking for a way for people to make chars on Siege and maintain their "young" player status for that character on Siege as well as on other shards, or just keep the "young" player status on the other shards and their Siege character would not have that status? Seems like there could be too many opportunities for exploiting certain situations on Siege if people could make characters there that have "young" status.

Here's a Stratics page that lists the restrictions on accounts that still have the "young player" status versus "trial account" status:

Young Player Status and Trial Accounts

not sure about trial accounts, but unless you log into another shard first and renounce your young status siege doesnt show up in the shard list until the "young" period is over. perhaps trial accounts either don't have young status, or that person knew to renounce it, because 40 hours of playtime is more than 14 days of gaming for most people. If you were to go out and purchase a copy of UO today, and install it, when you first pick a shard, even if you knew about siege, there's no way to choose it until later.

Honestly, i don't think it would be that bad though, it's 40 hours of playtime or until they hit 450 skill, and the restrictions should work fine here still. My point with that is mostly that most people, after 40 hours of gametime or working up that high of skill, will PROBABLY stay on the shard they started on at that point, since siege isn't even available to choose until after that we rarely ever see any truely new players. (yeah yeah, call it an "expert" shard or whatever if you will, but truely most things are actually EASIER to do here, or just the same)

The simpler thing for this would be the opening for all accounts to have a second home on Siege/Mugen. Siege is a totaly different shard setup in hardwear as Cal said in his post you couldnt link a transfer system to it so how hard would it be to allow players to place a house there and build a secondery play place?? Its been asked for for years sence they took away our rights to have houses on more then one shard per account.. (the reason given for this was land space availablity when it really was a accounting thing about more $$ in EA pockets, It back fired, Ea thought they had the masses by the short hairs and made it so you have to get 2nd account to own that house you need.... it made players leave the game as real life costs went up to cut into luxurys like UO play.)

TBH, the only reason I wouldn't want to see that, is many people would grab housing spots here just to have, and would never play here if that were possible, there's enough inactive accounts holding houses here as it is. For it to work, it would really require old housing rules to be back on here, so you need to refresh your houses.

Sugar .. there are so many places barren on Siege alone 25% the remaining populace in uo could place a house and still find room! There is malas... Termur... Tokuno... and the main land... But there is one thing your forgetting... players wont place if they cant get the gold.... Houses on siege are a bit pricey. Unless they have worked up a good character to get gold... Not many are willing to put in hours of work for a secondery house on a shard they wont be playing much on. Admit it most players these days are that lazy...

    Agreed !!

First of all Tandy down at the Siege High Seas dock does not even function properly, in that after ya buy some saltpeter, she does not re up the amt. for way too long. Sometimes ya waiting an hour for her to even double her amt. even the first or second time, at piddly amts. of saltpeter per rotation, of her restocking it, at all.

Secondly the price is TOO HIGH. For all the saltpeter one needs to make ammo etc. [High Seas Adventuring was also supposed to be about Ship combat !]
Well, yeh for those whom have the time and gp to afford the ammo at the current nearly suffocating supplies and prices of saltpeter; High Seas booster may work.
Some say mine it. *time consuming at best* even there ya need a LOT of blackpowder to make diddly. I myself finally found a place to mine saltpeter up and I be there for quite some time mining and still am lucky to get 400 saltpeter per go round. Even 400 makes about NOTHING to meet the potential demand !

When all one may wish to do is ship combat more than fishing with High Seas, saltpeter should be far less gp and more readily available on more vendors yet, or easier to get in larger amts. so in some all feluccan ruleset, like Siege, or feluccan seas any shard, freeing up saltpeter from captivity & high prices etc, can make High Seas ship to ship player combat for example, actually FUN, in game, take place more often than...not !

Folks need more AMMO to fight and more saltpeter for crafters to make the stuff, for those whom wish to be *combative* on the high seas, which 'is also' part of what High Seas adventuring was in theory, supposed to be about !

And the secret sauces ARE to high priced as well. 4k and up for them, to make magical fish pies, one pie even, for magical properties that do not even last long enough to warrent the price of fish pies. If one is forced to pay 4-5k a magical fish pie then the magic should either last longer, for the high price OR the price of the magical ingredients and sauces need to be lots lower for the few moments the magic of magical fish pies last after eating em !

Siege's npc prices are 3x higher, for most things, but some things should NOT be so pricey from the get go on Siege otherwise these can about negate a BOOSTER PACKAGE folks paid for in that it about renders the spiffy things of a booster package null and void to be useful on Siege or as useful as they should be on Siege.

They give us a High Seas Adventure pack on a shard all fel ruleset and ship to ship *player* battles are bogged down by TANDY not even having saltpeter affordable to make ammo, and she too pokey slow at restocking/doubling the amt of salt peter she even sells us, in general !

And while my magic gm chef fish pies DO sell, they sell when someone wishes to try them out for their chr. via the way too high Siege prices, of the secret *sauces.*
Then they find the magical stuff does not last long enough to warrent payin 4-5k a pie for them to fool with em more than ...once !
One experimental eating of one, to see how SHORT the effects of these last for the price for them, hardly worth 4-5 k and up, the sauces etc to cook up magical fish pies costs folks on Siege ! :rant2::confused:

High Seas is great *in theory* yet hemmed us all in on prices of magical fish pie sauces costs, and lack of saltpeter to really fight any ship to ship *player vs. player sea battles etc. or even fighting the *pirates*
So ya paid for this great potential HIGH SEAS ADVENTURING booster, that boxes everyone in to be about able to NOT USE it at all !
Kinda defeats the purpose/potential of the HS booster to begin with, from the get go ! :(

Second house sounds cool. Not sure if this has been suggested, but it might be a good idea to put a timer so that you must play Siege for x amount of hours per Quarter to be able to keep your Siege house. That way someone could make a char on there and have a second home plus be forced to play Siege to keep that house.

RE Siege Perilous not showing on the shards listing.
All any dev. teamer would have to do is simply show
Siege Perilous with ALL the other shards ON the list,
and simply add to it [FELUCCA ^ Siege Perilous] !

That way the shard would show up automatically as do ALL the other shards,
yet *new* or *youngs* seeing it would know it exists,

yet they can not go there, till they either renounce young status to go to Felucca ...anywhere, on any shard. Least Siege could then, SHOW on the shards lists !

No real excuse why Siege Perilous can not SHOW on the EA UO list of shards available, from the get go, when a simple typing of *Felucca* with the words Siege Perilous, could enable Siege TO show along with all the other UO shards on their Shards list.

I disagree with the idea of allowing second houses on Siege and Mugen. I think the best spots on the shard would end up going to people who wouldn't play Siege on a regular basis and it would severely impact people who decide to actually play Siege with a dexxer character and want to build a house near a moongate so they don't have to run quite so far every time they want to go home.

If you want a home on Siege, pay for it like everyone else already does or find friends to share a home with. There are a number of people who already play Siege regularly that open up their homes to people trying out Siege and it works just fine. I think the people who actually have to sacrifice a house elsewhere or open up another account to accommodate having a house on Siege end up being more dedicated to the shard and will actually stick around and participate in the community. And getting gold on Siege is not that hard. Earn it yourself easily enough. Or, from what I've heard, you can find players and brokers who will trade your "production shard" gold for Siege gold.

Tina many left Siege cause they had to choose ether to keep their siege home.. no matter how big or make that really cool 18 x 18 on a main production shard.. When the EA bosses liked the account people suguestion for more $$ and make UO 1 house per... just before the plots came out. Do you know how many wanted to try it?? the lesser of two evils was to drop the siege house for many. How I know this is my guild on siege... I lost alot of members to this... Each one was a good friend and without a house they eventualy stoped poping in siege.

I came to siege when it started with my nephew... he wanted to try the harder version of uo.. the kid wasa wiz at the milder version...

It did NOT stop me from playing other shards I was already on. I can multi task quite nicely and so can many others.

I would put the houseing back to the way it was... on all shards. It was a bad business move. It sounded good on paper but led to alot of players just up and leaving. Each time the Dev has done something that was good we got alot of bad with it. And yes alot of players left the game cause of those changes. You cant please everyone... But this is something we HAD before and it didnt hurt... infact it made for more players on shard.

Right now most have to choose where to live in game cause of the 1 house rule.. so they are stuck on 1 shard and get bored... bordom leads to inactivity... leading to quitting.
The geniuses at Mythic should understand this fact... the one house rule has pegionholed players to 1 spot. Ecconomics is not helping getting the exsisting players to invest hard earned cash to more accounts, infact accounts are shrinking cause of the money crunch in the world. How many here have closed down 1/2 to almost all their accounts?? Enough said. Time for action and putting things back to pre houseing shut down.
It's basic human science of the mental thinking, give the mind more choices... you have more activity, more activity more fun, less likely to quit.

I've been part of a small guild for several years, Lady Storm, and sharing houses is part and parcel of our in-game existence. Playing on Siege as part of a group is a GOOD thing. I'd much rather see EA do something along the lines of increasing house storage for all houses up to the same level as castles or keeps before seeing them allow people to place secondary houses on Siege or Mugen. More people might then be willing to work together to place a primary house on Siege and share it. Or come up with some way to let people rent additional storage space at inns or banks. I really think allowing Siege to become littered with houses placed by people who really don't intend to make Siege their primary shard is a bad move and would only serve the interests of "real estate speculators."

Lady Storm. *bows* I am undecided on this housing thing on Siege. Not so long ago I was dead set against it. I am still very much against a place and forget housing rule for a second house on Siege. *sighs* Desperate times and all. If anyone tells you times on Siege are not desparate... they do not play there.

But to get to my real message. Several of us on Siege will provide rooms or even entire houses depending upon the needs of the individual or (hopes) a crew. The Petra initiative is still very much in effect... Just contact us and let us know what you need. Siege will provide for those hearty folks that will brave that environment.

Another possible argument against allowing people to place a second house on their account on Siege and Mugen is that we've recently had two more bumps to storage space with SA and with High Seas. Many of UO's existing players have multiple accounts. We've also got some kind of spring cleaning event looming on the horizon. So people who claim they can't afford to give up one of their many houses on another shard to place one on Siege sound kinda silly, in my opinion. Stop hoarding so much elsewhere perhaps so you can consolidate houses on your regular shard(s) and put one on Siege if it's that important to you to have a house there. You probably won't be able to place a castle (especially because Siege is one facet short on castle lands compared to other shards), but if you've upgraded your accounts with every storage upgrade so you have 60% increased storage, a max storage size custom house has 3899 secure storage. I think there may also still be some keep-size locations around (or so I hear).

As Kelmo pointed out, there are people who regularly play Siege who are more than happy to offer some room to newcomers. I'm one of them. I can offer temporary space to 2 or 3 people as well if they need a safe place to log out and a place to store up to a few hundred items. I've also friended quite a long list of new players' characters on my Zento house so they have a place close to a moongate where they can safely log out, use crystal portals or rune books, dye tubs, make cloth, use a soul forge or a regular forge, use an advanced training dummy, or work on lockpicking. (They just have to agree to not fight or steal on the premises.) Shalimar, the guild leader for NEW, also sometimes is able to give someone a room and a secure locked box in a convenient location and NEW members are always welcome to train at the NEW keep or other NEW training houses. (And getting to the NEW keep is easy via the hub house steps away from Umbra.)

Getting yourself going on Siege does not have to mean a lengthy period of playing out of a bank box, working on crafting skills in NPC shops, and always logging out at an inn. Other Siege players are always happy to help out newcomers. And the removal of the daily cap on RoT skill gains means training characters and acquiring gold to get established and place your own house goes very quickly.

I am not against the Siege housing in totality, I think there needs to be some kind of balance with it though. That being said, the idea that people quit because the 1 house rule was put into place is silly. Everyone who had multiple houses got to keep them under the same rules that were in place prior to the rule being set. Also I ask where you got that it was a squeeze for money to put that rule in? I have never seen that suggested before. Also keep in mind most of the people who had multiple houses had them all on the same shard, not many people like you have a house on more than one shard with their multiple accounts, not saying it is bad of you or them, simply saying your idea is not sound. You say it is basic human science when you fail to see that human science is never basic and thus trying to deduct anything to its basic form fails. You provided a "fact" that people will play other shards more often if they can place houses there, yet a majority of players have multiple accounts and yet still keep both houses on one shard, the facts are contradictory to what you have said.

Well everything on siege is suppose to be 3x the price, it is the veteran shard.

If everything was that easy to obtain everyone would play on siege!
