A proposal to Siege Perilous EM

    I serious think the EMs of Siege Perilous consider the following event.

    The Invasion of Siege Perilous:

    Reason for the Invasion is that the shard is WEAK!
    Or, at least , weakened by the on going historical events.

    For one month the moongates of of the other shards allow
    entry to moongates of Siege Perilous.

    Any and all players of other shards may use the moongates with
    the following limitations, this is one way trip while the player must play 24
    hours before returning. It should be likely only four passage through moongates
    will be allowed.
    Players gain access to these moongates by buying a blessed hourglass
    which will count that players time in play. This item goes poof after
    720 hours of play.

    1.No pets may follow player through the moongate.
    2.Only items allow in or out of Siege Perilous are:
    Faction based items, any one and only one insured item which will
    suddenly be replaced with Siege Blessed status, gold checks,
    silver piles, basic items like reagents, potions, bandaids, etc;
    such items used during pvping activities of the non-artifact nature
    ; such as, arrows, crossbow bolts, or special combat items like enhanced
    bandages..., .
    One each of Magery, Spellweaving, Necromancery, Chivalry, Bushido,
    Ninjtsu spell books.
    3. Players while on Siege Perilous during the first 30 days of play
    will have no access to a Bank.
    4. During the 30 days of play, no player may place a house.
    5. Any player staying after the first 30 days becomes permanent player
    of Siege Perilous, this is playing time folks; 720 hours.
    6. Players staying permanently will have bank vault filled with various
    supplies and any Soulstones or soulstone fragments player had in
    other shard bank vault, other items will fade.
    7. Same limitations placed upon player returning to original shard.
    8. Factions' leaderships or rankings not determined by visitors.
    9. Players in ghost form will have that player's hourglass stopped.

    Too complicated... do you really think the devs could code it? :coco:

    Our best bet is to get people to buy into this pitch, " Siege is the best shard and most fun because there is risk and consequences to every action outside of guard zone. "

    The next best move ( in my opinion ) would be to allow a second character slot. It would be nice to have an alternative character just for the fact that one can get boring after a while, and soulstone skill swapping is tedious ( or remove the 24 hour soulstone restrictions and increase the 2 minute battle timer to 15 minutes. So people [house hiders] cannot swap skills mid battle. )

    Sweeney- that was my immediate thought as well. That idea is way too complicated. Sadly, I think the only way we will see a large influx of people is a second char slot and a grandfathered house. Even then, that will not cure most people's obsession with their pixels and their fear of losing them. As more and more items are introduced into this game, people are less willing to complete without those items and even less willing to lose them. I think we are fighting a losing battle. :wall:

    Who outside this shard would believe the pitch?
    Who inside this shard believes the pitch?

    Lets table my idea... I had enough of this.

    Actually, I don't think it would be too hard to code a second slot. They coded a six slot quiet easily....and didn't they add a 7th? I don't see what would be different about a second slot. The grandfathered house idea, though.....I will agree that could be complicated.

    I know coding and the number of character can be so easily changed you wouldn't believe it, if it was coded conveniently in the first place.

    And as the others said, you idea is much too complicated and involves too much new code. I'd prefer an EM that showed up once in a while and held events.

    Do you remember Anissa Darkstar who ran events years ago...those events
    took a lot of code writing.

    Actually, I agree the second character could easily be added. But, the problem
    is not coding, it is game design. A second character will have unintended
    consequences.

    Grandfathering houses code may disrupt existing Grandfather status of houses. The database may have some problems with conversion. the oldest
    house objects may go poof. Oops, not recoverable. *stares*

    As for the EM showing up... the question and answer events are not what
    you want.

    Yeah... if they coded it correctly, it would be as simple as changing one variable:

    max_characters = 1;

    changed to:

    max_characters = 2;

    Thats all a 7th character slot token is doing when you purchase one.

    if (max_characters < 7){
    max_characters++;}

    Hell, they could just change that one number, and put a token in everyones backpack, so they wouldn't even have to worry about manually changing anyones, they could use the token or not, their choice.

    The Devs were willing to give us a 2nd character, they asked how we felt about it. We held a vote, too many voted against it. We lost our chance.

    Too many people believed that crafters would be killed by everyone having a 'mule' (ignoring the fact that you can't fit all the craft skills on 2 characters when you take into account imbuing, never mind 1, nor the fact that some people couldn't face playing a crafter even if they had a dozen character slots, it's just not for them)

    Same goes for houses, it's been proposed before, I've proposed it myself, with all the 'must refresh' 'limited size' options included. Too many people vote 'no'.

    I know its probably not the most logical way to attract players for the comunnity, but ive been logging onto great lakes about 15-45 mins a day and verbally attacking people for not playing siege. Usually on a dexxer then i slap them around for a bit.

    Im hoping that i can convince a few more establised pvp guilds to come.

    If you think the people on the shard are ego maniacs just go to atlantic or Gl yew gate.
