A sampire's pet peeves

    1) "Failed to find path" when honoring. Is likely the most annoying thing ever - especially when it happens with flying mobs that are gonna bless themselves as soon as they start walking.
    2) Monster too damaged to honor because of their own Bless. Come ON, it really does not make any sense. have that "too damaged" start when it's under its own default HPs or something!
    3) Honor Irk, die, res, go back to Irk - and she is honored no more but if you try to honor there's no result, so rinse and repeat (the die/res part).
    4) Fire Ants. They're unaffected by flame slayer talisman, move faster than most paragons, have the largest detection/aggro range this side of a changeling and they run away as soon as they are under 20% health, so to get the honor boost to health and mana you have to follow and hunt down. And they don't lose stamina, so when redlined they run just as fast as at full health.
    5) In the enhanced client you can immediately swap two one-handed weapons or two two-handed weapons. If you want to swap a 1-h with a 2-h you need to disarm, wait, rearm. Not much sense here, either, imho.
    6) Pet Resurrection countdown - ten minutes is a tad long, isn't it? Especially when there is no visible timer but only the spiteful "lacks cohesion" message.

Ahhhh, there. That's some weight off my chest.

    1) I see your point
    2) Sure is annoying but I wouldn't ask for a change...
    3) Never had that problem, everytime I die what I honored is STILL honored. Unless you're honoring something to regain stats which is generally your fault.
    4) Don't really care about that...
    5) Use equip last weapon, 2D macro...
    6) How about let sammy's rez their own hiryu? Would be nice... Though you're probably talking about a swampy *sigh*
7 ADDED) I'm annoyed that the only way to actually solo anything high end as a melee is to pot, feint and evade like mad/joust OR be a sampire. Though, you could just be a tamer and win the game (pvm)... *mumbles*

OR you could always ADD a tamer to your char line up.

    1. and 2. I agree with ya,hate not finding a path for honor on those flyers (or Mel) or worse yet having a path but the damn thing blessed itself before I could honor it.

    3. I don`t use a Samp. I think all the peaple that complain tamers are over powered in pvm should stfu and make a samp. Ya got one real tuff, godlike pet class and from what I see....a real tuff, godlike fighter class.I mean Samps can do things solo my tamer certainly can not do solo.
Double standard perhaps? Me thinks so....

    4. Fire Ants, yes them lil buggers can be very annoying but I like the added difficulties like this. Its nice to see the game headed in a different direction, getting a lil harder here and there instead of further dumbing down.Nothing wrong with a challenge even if it can be annoying sometimes.

    5. No comment. I don`t use the EC.

    6. I totally agree,10 minutes for a pet rezz is a little much. I mean I am definately grateful for them finally adding an NPC rezz, but 10 mins is a lil harsh if your trying to get back to your corpse or whatever. Rezz pots aren`t even viable since one component comes off Medusa. Thats kind of stupid if ya ask me.Thats one thing that should have been made a little easier to produce.

The template is ridiculously over-powered as it is, and has managed to resist template-killing nerfs. The most the nerfs of the last several years have done is make you all work marginally harder to achieve and/or earn your over-powered status.

Complaining about comparatively minor matters, which impact everyone to one degree or another (but not everyone complains), is a bit much. Most templates have far more legitimate sources of complaint, and a lot more of them.

    I mean, seriously.

who cares about your pet peeves? sampires are the strongest/gimpiest template on UO. i wish you had more pet peeves.. a lot more.

Galen, legend: go have a lie down, guys - you're a bit overreacting.
it's not as if i'm saying sampires should be made more powerful or anything - those are just pet peeves, nothing more.
And anyway, if you think a sampire is so incredibly powerful, why don't you just make one for yourself? Allow me to answer: because you don't like the template. And now ask yourself - why should YOUR preferences somehow affect MY play style?

  7. Monsters that run away from you can be prevented by spamming Attack Last.

(At least they can in the UO client not sure about the "Enhanced" client.)

I have a tamer, I don't like the fact if I want to fight something high end I have to use a tamer or a sampire. You kind of missed the entire point of what I said, kudos. And yes, to everyone who's going to go "ON my mage I Exp run away/Spam summons" or anything of the like, I don't honestly care, the point is Sampires = Number 1, Tamers = number 2, everything else is 5 in a 3 man race.

When I try to honor things, sometimes i'll honor myself accidently, no big deal because the gump comes up askng you if you whether I really want to honor myself, but the problem is that even if you press "CENCEL/NO" it still uses up the timer and have to wait at least 5 minutes next time I want to honor myself, which is often the main reason I would like to hit cancel in the first place incase I need to use it soon. However, whether it uses honor points even when I press the "cancel" option I do not know.

No it doesn't, and don't whine about that. There was a time when the gump didn't exist.

Note that the first one actually applies to all templates who want to have the Honor Virtue.

Yes, it does. Every single time I accidentally honor myself, no matter which option I pick I have to wait 5 minutes. And honestly it was better WITHOUT the gump.

Yes it does, I'm 1 billion percent sure on this, i'll put my life on the line too. It happens to me 100% of the time, infact, I just did it for the sake of it few seconds ago and it happened. Go try it and find out for yourself, honor yourself, accept the "no/cancel" option when the gump pops, then try honoring yourself again. If it happens to work for you, maybe its a difference of client or something, I use 2D for the record.

Lack of Buff bars. It would be nice to have Curse Weapon Timer and a Vampire Embrace Icon as well. Like many things it should have been implemented a long time ago.:pancakes:

I was replying to "No it doesn't use honor points" but thanks for assuming I have no idea what I'm talking about. And no it wasn't better without the gump, have you ever used UOA's bandage self macro? Sometimes, if you do that anytime near honoring something, you'll honor yourself. Same thing with any wait for cursor target self macro. So, randomly honoring yourself and loosing paths to honor is better than not loosing paths and a 5 minute timer? Really? I think it's you who has no idea what they're talking about.

to potgut, first sentence of above paragraph. Apparently no one read the person I was responding two's last or 2nd to last sentence regarding confusion over if it uses honor dots or not.

We weren't clear on what you were refering to so I awknawlegde our misunderstanding but thanks assuming I was whining on your prior post, because I think if I where, maybe I would have starded a thread on this issue by now, but i'm only contributing to this thread.

As for this issue it's often no big deal for me, but much more noticible during fighting high end monsters e.g. irk or peerless, which is often the time I like to honor myself to dance around sticky situations or for preparation, but sometimes I find out i'll have to wait for the timer to run out after an accidental honor of myself after using bunch of buffs with timers or holding keys with timers, its situations like these why this is a pet peeve. I have no problem making up for any paths I lose, in those 5 minutes I can make up the paths by honoring and killing monsters than waiting, so the gump is almost pointless in my stance.
