If I am able to consecrate, enchant, immolate,or curse a held weapon to do more damage than normal, then I would like the same spells to benefit my wrestler.Allow me to consecrate my fists to do damage to the weakest resist of my target just as if I were holding a weapon.

Wrestlers definitely need some love. With bushido and ninjitsu in i alwasy wondered why they didn't made them more effective, would be fun. We even have those lovely fighting monks in tokuno. A bit of damage reduction, a little buff to puch speed/strength if you have X bushido or Y ninjitsu and you fight in monk's outfit... and voilĂ , a new character is born.

You know, I have always felt that some kind of glove for the wrestling skill would be a great addition. Something like spiked gloves or weighted gloves. I'll be honest I have never trained in wrestling so I don't know if there are advantages that the wrestling skill has over weapon skills that even things out. Perhaps someone with more information on the subject could add their knowledge.

I don't get it. You want to 6 damage instead of 2? Why would devs waste their time on that? Wrestling has been a defensive skill all along. It's not made to turn you into a Kung fu master.

Wrestling isn't useful anymore, and it hasn't been useful since you couldn't cast spells & have special moves toggled on at the same time.

I 100% agree that this should be changed back, HOWEVER wrestling is far from useless. I guess where you play dexxers don't spam disarm on your mage weap in the field. My mages haven't carried a mage weap in months now for this very reason.

Agreed. Having Wrestling be an actual 'Combat' skill would be fantastic.

I don't know exactly what the code holds, but I think this has to do with 'weapons' vs 'armor'. There are no wrestling weapons, gauntlets are considered armor and rings/braclets are trinkety type things. They aren't designed to hold the enchantments that weapons are given.

What I'd like to see is wrestling damage start at 2 at 0 skill and increase by say 2 for every 20 points of wrestling (+12 damage at 120 skill). Then gauntlets could be enchanted to either add damage or modify damage types for wrestling. Braclets (bracers) and rings could be used to add the same as well as spell effects like explosions or the like.

Something like that! Wrestling needs to have some work done to it for sure!

Perhaps the 'Silence of the Devs' could be broken here to get some feedback....

Go play the new WOW if you want some stupid Kung Fu BS. Anyone that plays a mage knows how useful wrestle is. 1) don't need tactics to pull of specials. 2)can't be disarmed. That right there is enough to make wrestle better than any other wep skill for a mage (depending on temp but over all wrestle is useful as hell).

At the OP: in chivalry its called "consecrate ARMS", that means weapon, and divine fury would just be useless. Secondly samurais and ninjas use weapons therefore no wrestling. You can maybe make a case to have enemy of one working for mages.

Here we go again. Anyone who plays a mage... in pvp, because in pvm anyone who plays a mage knows that wrestling is as useful as a toilet with no hole.

What about go playing EVE? They have pvp all over the place.

The specials, while nice don't often come in handy when PvEing. I'm not even certain that the majority of players in the game PvP, so I don't see that your argument is particularly helpful.

'Kung Fu BS' as you put it has been around a lot longer than WoW, so I'm not certain that this was particularly useful either....

Hmmm... how about something constructive please.

Right now wrestling is a crumby skill and it needs work. The fact that only Mages in PvP find it useful is a very valid reason for enhancement.

In fact the entire name should be changed to Brawling as I have yet to see anyone actually 'wrestle' in game.

The only thing about Disarm, is what do people do when they get disarmed? They run.

Melee is on the underpowered side imo, (unless they have DP) & wrestling is not 100% useless, But its only good against people who can disarm, otherwise wrestling does exactly the same thing a - mage weapon would do (except with a weapon you can get more dci & deal melee damage), and until you can get a better variety of properties on spellbooks, this is going to remain the same as well.

Stun Punch & Disarm (Wrestling) are Semi useful, but you have to make a choice as *not cast, and HOPE your wrestling hits* and resume spell damage at this point, OR *not cast, and Miss* and your target has the opportunity to get 1-2 heals or 1 Gheal off. (assuming your fighting another mage)

Weapon skill mages have been made nearly obsolete since the tactics/spell-spec change has been added. and unless the casting-with-specs gets turned back on, they will be extremely rare to see.

Pvm-Mages, If you could hold a slayer spellbook & a slayer weapon at the sametime, i could see a mage with a weapon skill being useful in pvm... But you can't so a dexer is better off, if you prefer melee dps vs spell dps.

I would like to see a day that wrestling isn't automatically tied to magery. Here is a template that I would like to see made more effective in pvm.

    Wrestling
    Anatomy
    Tactics
    Parry
    Healing
    Focus
    Bushido/Ninjitsu

I am surprised that we didn't get something added to wrestling when SE was published. I also would like to see monk type cloth armor given to humans/elves to balance things a bit with gargoyles.

Ok to put it simple wrestle is a "support" skill. It's not intended to put out damage like the other wep skills its supposed to make other skills more effective, like magery, necro, mystic, animal taming, etc. It's been like this since the game was created. I dont know why'd you think this something worth concern now.
Boo hoo that you can't have iron knuckles or spiked gloves (which would **** up pvp balance) or monk armor (which is really unimportant and at the end of the list of what needs fixed in uo).

How would spiked gloves or iron knuckles imbalance the game? It could be given the same base damage and speed as a dagger or cleaver.I am not asking for new weapons but instead I am asking to be allowed to cast spells that pertain to enhancing a weapon. As for you saying that "monk armor" would not be important to the game. That is simply your opinion. It is not a fact so do not state it as such.

Just put damage reduction when the gloves are used against another player (a thing that the system already does for a number of effects) and pvp is safe.

This does make sense. If brawler gloves/bracers were put into the game I would not want them easily usable by casters. First I would only allow them to be made with metal that can not be crafted or imbued with spell channeling. If a mage equiped them and cast spells, the gloves would unequip and be placed into the pack.

FYI for all that are watching this thread. I have not asked for an increase in base damage for wrestling, nor have I asked for new wrestling weapons. I am simply requesting that the following spells be made available for wrestlers just like any armed fighter.

    Consecrate Weapon
    Immolate
    Enchant
    Curse Weapon

Well what specials are going to be on the gloves? It would make sense that these specs too wouldn't require tactics and that these gloves wouldn't be disarmable so that's already a huge problem as to why a wrestling wep like these would be stupid.

PS: It's a fact that creating new monks armor is unimportant, as it wouldn't change anything about this game besides new pixels.

I'd say we would keep the same specials as before. No need to change them at all. I think tactics would need to be required for using specials. It would be needed for balance reasons.Though it would be nice to have new cloth (monk) armor in the game for humans/elves,that isn't really what I am asking for. Studded armor is good enough for me.All I am asking for is the ability to use the four spells that are centered around melee weapons for wrestling.
