Okay here goes. I'm a warrior an aspiring sampire. I know i can get a swamp dragon and a lesser Hiyru. my question is which one is better when its fully trained up? I heard that a swamp dragon gives 20% damage reduction but what does the lesser hiyru give?

It gives you a silly looking mount to run around on. lol

In all seriousness, it just gives you a mate to help assist you (normally PvP). They have pretty much become useless though...and for good reason. It is now only a 20% chance that the hiryu has of dismounting it's enemy.

They were used often not too long ago, because their chance to dismount someone was 100%. But fear not, people have found other ways to get the "auto kill."

Now, in regards to the swamp dragon, you will need a GM dragon barding deed and apply it to the swamp dragon.

The dragon to my knowledge, does nothing for you without the deed. The armor will wear, so make sure you keep an eye on that.

I thought to get the full benefit it was required to be exceptional.

That begs the question. If it were GM, wouldn't it be exceptional? :p

Now...if it were not crafted by said blacksmith and just an amateur blacksmith, it would give a 10% absorption in damage.

Well since there is a chance to fail at making the deed I would say its safe to assume you don't have 100% chance at exceptional either

Valid point. Then it would just depend whether the smith is a plain GM or an exceptional GM+ smith. :danceb:

Get a decent tally and a +30 ancient smith hammer and all your barding deeds will be exceptional. Quite easy actually.

Thank you all for the info. It'll be put to good use.

  10. Since you are talking about dragon barding deeds, is there any difference in the material type that the deed is made from? Any point in using anything other than iron ingots?

Nope, all the same. The only difference would be if you were trying to color coordinate lol.

  12. Thank you very much, Aibal. There is such a difference in the cost of the deeds depending on which ore was used to make it, just wondered if it was worth buying a Valorite barding deed for 10 times the cost.
