Absolutely Awe-Inspiring

Discussion in 'UHall' started by imported_Tina Small, Feb 23, 2008.

  1. I just had a chance to look at the Drachenfels forum and I'm absolutely awe-struck. If you want to see an amazing example of what happens when a small shard decides to pull together to get something done, please go read this thread on the Drachenfels forum: Can't we try to help the Zoo? .

I am so impressed with what happened here. Just looking at the numbers is one thing but to read this chronicle of how it happened is....simply...awe-inspiring! Go Drachenfels!

(This is not meant to belittle what has happened on other shards as they've also worked on populating their zoos. This thread just kind of got to me, though.)

I hope we are a inspiration for more people on Drachs and for all the other shards. Anything is possible if you put your mind too it! [IMG]

Tina, I really respect what you are trying to do with the zoo tiers but could you not make numerous threads about it? Try to keep it on the same topic you already had started. Thanks.

I remember putting in a few hundred thousand points into the collective thing.

All gone the next day or so. That was enough for me.

Sorry you're annoyed. I haven't posted here in U-Hall about the zoo in several weeks. Couldn't help myself this week.

Considering that every negative topic gets several threads in UO U.Hall, I don't think its a bad thing to allow more than one thread of a postive subject.

Im very impressed, especially as I have donated in the past and know first hand how tedious it is...

My only question is what's the point? I understand it was more about the journey than the destination, but why did they bother?

  11. My guess is that some people on Drachenfels wanted to show themselves and the rest of us that it isn't a "dead" shard.

Drachenfels was probably the only shard I've played since AoS hit that gives me a real sense of community that existed pre AoS. A lot of that has gone now, since a lot of great guilds from their have left, but it kept me playing for so long. It was probably the only shard that with the exception of Siege that had the type of mentality DF did.

Real anti-pk guilds, good warring community and a real sense of togetherness. If anyone wanted a shard with old (fel) UO mentalities, Drachenfels was the shard to play. Unfortunatly it suffered the same fate other shards did - all be it years later, but it was great while it lasted.

None the less, it's always good to see people working together like this.

First of all i did not like that the Zoo was empty. They use to be always animals monsters there but for months now its been empty, with now and then just a crane.I saw Tina's post about all the Zoo and saw Drach's all the way down there. So i thought, ok lets try to move up a few Tiers. my idea was just i Tier a week.
So i posted to ask for help but got no reaction at first.Untill someone said don't bother the shard is dead. It made me upset that i said i would do it alone. But i did get help, alot of help with taming and donations. And see what we did in just 2 weeks! [IMG]

This was not about getting the best armor or weapons. This is not about greed. Its about we are not that dead as some wishes us to be.About peopel who worked together to reach one and the same goal.
Nobody cared if someone played in KR or 2D, no remarks on each other about what client is better . It did not matter if you play in Felucca or Trammel. It shows that these boards don't reflect the attitude of most people on the shards. We not all grumpy ,complaining people , who only think about there own selfish tiny world.

You can complain there is nothing to do.That we don't see alot of other people on the shard.Just sometimes we players have to make things happen. If you just stand at a bank all the time why bother logging in!
Sometimes we need someone who shake things up and make the fun.

And yes the Zoo donations are slow . And taming 1000's of unicorns can get dull after some time. But its not that boring if you have alot of nice people around you working on the same thing.Andn ot everythign should be easy, to many of us wants everyting in there pockets in a blink of a eye.Geuss what? For somethings you just have to make a effort.

Today we showed our shard is not dead and that there alot of good and nice peopel out there.UO is not alone about greed and cheaters.
We placed Drachenfel's on the map! Even if all points are gone by next week. We showed anything is possible with some effort! [IMG]

Jessica will say "We need more unicorns!" [IMG]

Very impressive, it's always good when people band together to do something interesting.

It would really be nice if we got points for any legal tame in the game though, not just specific ones.

Wow thank you for posting this as I do not visit Drachenfels forums and would have missed the inspiration I have now found here.

I am now about to go and challenge Oceania so lets see what another small shard can do.
