Account MisManagement

    I just hung up the phone having called EA Customer Support and asking which of the TWO Change Password Buttons on the Account MisManagement Page is for changing my login password to play Ultima Online. After placing me on hold THREE times I was told there is No WAY for me to change my login password. I was told TWICE that only an EA Customer Rep is allowed to change my password and email it to me. This is utterly insane!

    I have endured the worst customer service from any company known to man, EA, until I can take it no longer. They really could NOT care less if we close accounts and NEVER do ANY business with EA again for so long as we live!

    Please do NOT let a customer service representative talk you into letting them change your password!!!

    There is some information on this page in the Playguide on the official website on how to change your password: http://www.uoherald.com/node/45 . (Look in the section under the "Game Accounts" heading.) Assuming you know what your current game account password is, you first have to log into your EA Account that holds the game account you want to modify. Then, select that particular game account from the drop-down list of linked accounts in the top center section of the screen. After you you have that game account showing up on the screen near the bottom, click on the Change Password button at the bottom of the screen. The next screen will probably ask for your secret word, and then you should get a screen where you change the game account password.

    Well Tina, I followed those instructions to the letter and a password supposedly changed. Sadly I have no idea what password changed but it was NOT the password we enter underneath our UO Account Name. I have never been so frustrated and angry. This is totally unacceptable. Under the old system changing my UO Account password was as easy as chewing gum. Now it is impossible to do myself. And I refuse to have any EA Rep do it for me and then email it to me. And here we are 7 Months after Account Migration. This is utterly absurd!

    I feel the same way. It is mind boggling at times. My problem now is I can't renew my sub. They won't accept my credit cards. Maybe something/someone is hinting me to move on again....

    Have you checked your e-mail that is associated with your EA Account? When you change the password for one of your UO accounts, you now receive an e-mail message telling you, "Your password for Bioware Mythic Game Account for Ultima Online and Username XXXX [this will be the name of your UO account] was updated via the Account Management site." I suspect that if what you changed instead was the password to your EA Account, the e-mail message would be worded a bit differently and would not mention Ultima Online or Usernames at all, just your EA Account.

    The change password at the top of the screen is for the master account, after you select what account you are working on, the change password at the bottom of the page is for the account you selected. I've recently changed my passwords, and had no issues. However I do agree the people you talk to at EA are no better than an answering service, they aren't trained in the mechanics of Ultima Online, they have to take your problem, and escalate it to Tier 3 whoever they are, and they will decide if your problem is bad enough to warrant a response. Don't hold your breath, I have 3 tickets in for help, and no response yet.

    An Answering Service WOULD know the answer or be able to point you in the CORRECT direction for the answer quickly. I know because I own one, don't cut Answering Services down for most that work at one are very knowledgeable in who they are answering for. Be it a medical or plumbing line they can tell you or point you in a correct direction. Their (EA) CSR's wouldn't last 1 day at my service before they would be finding a new career.

    Well, yesterday a long time UO Player and Friend literally talked me through the process for ME to change my own log in game password. Shhhhh! Don't let EA Cust Rep's KNOW.

    If they carry on at this rate then the 15th Anniversary ingame celebration will be totally lagg free.

    Everyone else will be stuck at the account or login page :gee:

    I'm glad BajaElladan got it all sorted. Here's what's confusing to me:
    Account - the one used to access UO material
    Account - the one used for payments
    Account - Master
    ... and there's probably more... UO product purchasing sites, problem/dispute tracking, etc.

    I know what they are, but trying to easily ask/answer a question is simply made difficult at best. As good as they are at making crap up, seems they could have resolved this in the Planning stages - I think 'they' knew what they were talking about, just 'they' gave little regard to an average client that uses the services. But, it's actual pretty typical for advancements related to UO in my experience, one word sums it up, Anal. Who runs UO is just as confusing, I guess Mythic is out now, Bioware is in, except Origin runs the money sites, or something like that?

    When I ask EA CS about Ultima they tell me they don't have access to it and its Mythic that do it...
