"It is also possible to not receive anything if your contributions are not on par with the distribution of other contributors."

    really?

    REALLY??

I above all people should not be complaining; why? Let's just say I probably play more hours a week than most do. Sorry but this is silly to me, whoever plays more, gets MOAR! You can't say this is skill related - I don't need to know the exact details of the quest to know that at least 90% of the people playing will be competent enough to complete it (no offense...)

    May the best player WIN!

A minor correction, it should be act VI (6), not Act IV (4) and we also haven't seen anything about Act V (5) yet.

This game just keeps getting better and better. Does Jeff even know what's happening? I keep tweeting him and he just continues to talk about new releases he is playing.

I'm rapidly losing faith in Jeff. He's supposed to be steering UO into better days, but it seems like he is asleep at the wheel. Perhaps its from a bit too much publish related booze.

I'd love to know how these arc quests made it past his desk at the design doc stage, what they lack in fun they sure as hell aren't making up for in creativity. He tweets about "Virtuous things" that, as of yet, haven't seen the light of day...while the peasants literally revolt in UO. Might want to attend to the property that's actually generating a profit (last we heard) a bit more, rather than those still in the theoretical stage.

unfortunately UO is a game too big to manage for 10-15 people...
in order to bring the game out of this quicksand it would requires MUCH more money and people, but EA is clearly unwilling to seriously invest in UO.

Actually we have 2 client: 1 that lives in the museum of modern history with the commodore 64 and the second is unstable and clearly still in permanent beta.
Publish after publish the game became always more complex and new players are totally lost (just watch the embarassing Wayback Wednesday Review video).

IMHO people just don't play UO only and if you played other games you get habit with physics and many new technologies that makes the games graphically more desirable, so we reach a point where new contents just can't excite people anymore...
New artifacts are just like the old ones, new monsters abilities cannot be seen unless you don't randomly read about it in 1 of the thousands text line of the journal.

For example just see the void pool event: the idea is great, but the void pool is like a cat litter and that's the definition of that square thing given me by a friend that I tried to brought to UO.
Another example is the audio effects, when you run the footsteps make always the same sound no mattere where you are running (also out of sync on EC).
What about the fact that you MUST log everyday or you lose virtues, loyalty and faction points? this just makes the game a work...
The last thing that makes UO always less attractive is the monthly price: 13€/month is actually too much for a game in the current state.

To conclude I'd like to say that the current dev team is doing a good job, the fault of the current condition came from all the mistakes made in the past and from EA that just forgot UO. It's possible that the only way out of this mess is a fresh start with an UO 2...

Shocked me here... "Hello, a new Beta moment". While my first impression was pretty negative, it seems kinda like a Bell curve. The bulk get widgets, the very top get more, and the very bottom are dropped completely off. So one's enjoyment (time permitting) dictates the outcome, to an extent? I say if you like it, play it - if you like it a lot, play it a lot - if you don't like it, well, just screw it, no worries.

I think it's too early to go into critical mode. No doubt Jeff will be open to constructive feedback from players as more of them experience the new changes and report their opinions/impressions.

I must say I are disappointed in Bioware. I was really hoping we would receive a little luvin post SWTOR release. For developers who are paying attention this is why it is important to maintain brand culture and the corporate knowledge base on, well, on anything really.

They need designer/producer that have years of UO PLAYING experience period. Complexity of the sandbox we all love so much can't be summed up by a newbie that just pretends to go through the motion. We also need dev that would at least take general player sentiments in to consideration when they are putting in new contents.

actually the latest additions were 80% suggested by players through the years, just designed more carefully in order to avoid problems...
    - reforging: the old idea was to revamp the runics by giving the player a chance to choose the properties to add. They have done it by keeping some random factors.
    - town loyalty: the old idea was to be able to "buy" a title tied to a city by spendig fame/karma. They added a separated system.
    - void pool: the idea of an endless champion has been requested several times. They added it like requested with a bit of fictional contents.
and others that now I can't remember...

This game gets worse, and the subscription goes up...

Basically it seems like the more people that leave, the more the people that stay have to pay to make up for it...

It's pretty common now days to have more than just one account...
So why not have a bundle package where you get a discount for having more accounts tied to your mythic master account...

When i first switched to the new payment system, this is what I thought they were doing... But in the end they just ran more people off...

This seems extreme but, it slightly resembles to me, that they have lost almost all interest and are purposely trying to kill this game...

100% this. there are people literally printing gold with scripting on unpatched clients right now by the billions. not bkits, not val hammers, raw new fresh laundered GOLD. People are selling crimsons for like 30m now. I am ignoring people asking if i'd like to buy gold at .18 ($180/bil) on a daily basis. I'd hate to be an 'average' or 'new' player, that's for sure...

problems from five years ago are still problems. and we've been saying that for eight years.

We already have a designer who has years of UO playing experience (and thank heavens for that!):
But as you can see, he has not much to do with the game content. In fact, I'm not sure who actually designs these quests.
