Just a thought for folks here and higher up positions in UO to ponder. Guaranteed to increase the bottom line.

A token that would allow tamers to take any high end tamable {3-5 slot} pet, select it's color, and upgrade it's cap of stats/skills to where the Greater Dragon is at. It would not have to be 100% of max, more like the 90% range or so.

It would make things a little more interesting, and give players the chace to hunt with the pixel pet of their choice while not sacrificing power.

    YES!
I do NOT want a NEW pet with the powers. I want my old WW or dragon ...etc TO be able to play again. I worked hard to get my WW's to fighting status..I adore them but with the game zoomed past for the GD.... they sit in the stable unless I go after a lower end bunch of critters..... I am not happy I have to leave my baby in the stables.

Uh, no. A tamer selects the pet for the job. Allowing certain pets to achieve stats close to a greater dragon would not only create unbalances (a rideable gdrag level pet) while further eroding the market for tamers who spend countless game hours farming particular pets to provide high end tames for others. On top of that, for the truly rare pets (blaze cu, pink hiryu, etc.), people could just pick that and eliminate the need to go out and get one. I'm the biggest hater of grinds in this game to maintain certain elements (virtues, faction points, rioters), but do we REALLY need an easy button for pets? Seriously?

Just because a Greater Dragon has the most hit points of any pet, doesn't make it the BEST pet for EVERY situation.

I have taken my WW to alot of dungeons and I hate to say my poor pet is way out of the mix when it comes to tackling the newer monsters. They have been escalating the monster templates for years I know but the rate has been growing in power needed that a old pet will have trouble handling in a normal span of time. I along with many players dont have the time to play at killing 1 creature that takes so long. Try this Take your WW to Demon temple and pull 1 gd. see how long your WW takes to kill it. Now take your GD to that same area and pull a gd to kill and measure the time it takes. I have. The ratio of killing time is quite a difference. All I want is the chance to make my WW competitive with the GD in my stables. I have had my WW's depending on tamer for way over 12 years... I dont want to let my pet rust... If not a way to raise the pets skills and all how about lowering the WW and reg dragon's slot #. Down to the pony. ether way I am sick to death of the power race the dev and players are on. Dev is kill at all cost and the players is matching thedev's zeel in the craving of higher challenges..... stop the race and let the rest of us have a rest.. Geesh

I can understand not wanting a GD level pet that is mountable. So they could make it to when a token is used on a pet that is less than 5 slots it auto upgrades it to a 5 slot unridable pet, just as the GD's are.

Rare spawning colors? Easily solved, give hues that do not match the colors of the rare ones we have now. That would still enable the farming tamers reason to keep hunting the rare ones, and would not kick them out of income. The reason I was saying 90% stats/skills is so the high end tamer still has the option to farm for high end GD's as well.

I would not consider it an easy button. I was talking only about unlocking the stats and skills for the level of a GD. The tamer would still have to actually hunt with the pet to build the skills up to those levels.

I agree with you there. But it makes for a much better tank than anything else out there.

What is your WW's physical resist?

I might break mine out and try that.

Also, to be fair, you'd have to add something like a mare or something else to take up the 2 slots, so that it is 5 slots vs 5 slots. To be honest, since a WW is only a 3 slot pet, it shouldn't stand a chance against a Greater Dragon.... But... a Greater White Wrym would be kinda cool.

Depends on what you are fighting. If another pet has a higher resist against whatever damage is being done, then that pet would be better, because it would be taking less damage and therefore need less healing.

But in general, yes, the Greater Dragon is the best tank out there- and as a 5 slot pet, it should be.

agreed, GD is just the EASIEST tank to use, not the best, quite often the rune beetle does far more damage with the tradeoff that you have to heal it more. Most of the newer bosses die extremely fast to a trained rune beetle.

2 Fire Steeds can also out damage a Greater Dragon against Fire weak opponents. The trade off is that they're incredibly frail. Rune Beetles definately do more damage than a Greater Dragon over a short period of time, until their Mana runs out that is. Once their mana runs out, they spend it all on keeping up Bleed Attack, and doing Armor Corrupts every now and then, very rarely casting any Exps, E-Bolts or FS then.

I have a 7xGM WW named "Hades" that i've owned since the first week that T2A launched (14 years ago), and i used him extensively to hunt with, and he survived everything i pit him against in the pre-bonding days. Hades became quite a legend in my guild, even going toe to toe against an Ancient Wyrm and emerging victorious (With lots of vetting/g-heal combos of course). He even won 1st place in a WW Tournament on Napa Valley. I'd love to see him returned to his former glory.
The Frost Dragons that spawn from Lvl 7 T-Maps, is basically the WW version of a Greater Dragon. They are horrendously powerful, even when Discoed, they can quite easily take on a fully trained Greater Dragon, which will require a huge amount of G-Heals to keep up (The Cold Aura on the Frost Dragon makes vetting suicide). Their breath graphic is a bit off though, since it looks like a E-Bolt, rather than the Frost Breath of a Skeletal Dragon.

On stuff like corgul that actually helps rather than hurts, the bleed + armor corrupt do FAR more to him than the FS/EXP do, and once he's "settled" with fairly low mana he'll continually chain bleed/armor corrupt on them, with a bonus that the armor corrupt amplifies damage of anything else attacking him as well (this tactic also works very well on most other bosses). It's amazingly effective actually with a lot of the newer stuff with 90+ resists to most/all elements, and great "anti-healing" mechanism for bosses with fast regen as well....if you can keep up the heals and pull back as needed it takes almost half the time to down some of them as it does with straight tanking on a GD. (this is mostly in the case of bosses/monsters with really high resists or fast regens)

How about if the Devs add pet evolution to the game? Get rid of the actual GDs that spawn and make it so as you train up your regular dragon or white wyrm that at a certain level they evolve into a "greater" version of it's self and then you can continue to train it up higher but once it hits that greater level it just one control slot higher? They could do this will a ton of pets and also make them still transferable. I also think that the pet's skill gain in that "greater" tier also be harder to gain. Kind of makes taming and pet training more enjoyable and can be more profitable.

They failed to make any loot generated improved by the number of players present. And weaker loot generated by soloist ( they are grinding for the special anyways that is not part of loot). Take a tamer with a rune beetle and another with 5 frenzy. Those frenzy rune combo are deadly. What new pets that need to be added are community growth pets. 2 or 3 pets whos specials enhance one another. Call of nature. Pet song call that has barding enhancement for other pets in party. UO needs more player tamer pack game style and not another meatshield. 99% my tamer hunting is done with 1 slot packers. WIth more players partied at a hunt generating greater loot is better then some lvl 6 circle brief community and everyone goes their seperate ways. To bad the new loot system wasn't saved for rewarding community group hunting.
