You sound almost well set up, especially for skills and resists, but with some problems.

First the easy things to fix...

For a first solo vs Dread, your int of 14 might not be useful, since from his special ability you will lose 20 points. Consider dropping it back to 10 (unless that extra 4 points is coming from items), and boosting strength or dexterity.

Your healing skill is also probably going to be mostly useless, since 1, you will fail to heal any damage often, and 2, you will be constantly being poisoned, and your healing skill won't have any chance of curing it. Putting the points into tactics would boost your damage and help the leeching.

Last the hard/expensive things to fix...

The mace is a little slow from the start, and if you take enough damage, you could have problems with running out of stamina - which will just make it even slower. Also, 37 mana leech is on the low side for a slowish weapon like this one.

The wild staff looks even worse. No mana leech, and with dread horn using mana drain quite often, you may have a hard time getting your spells off in timely fashion. The hit lightning 18 and hit chance increase 4 look like too small numbers, mostly useless. It is also a lower damage weapon than the mace to start off with, so you'll be leeching less, and killing the boss more slowly, both of which are bad.

In case you can look at buying a better weapon, see if you can get something just a little faster/higher damage, although without throwing away the leeches if possible.

Anyway, have a go, cos practice makes perfect. [IMG]

the last n most important 4 me r weapon, what if i change weapon 2...
Ornate axe
mw -22
hml 55
hci 12
dci 13
ssi 25

Hi there, you'll wanna get that macing up to 120 if at all possible. I have a macer Sampire and he does pretty decent with Dreadhorn. My Temp is (with items of course):

120 Macing
120 Bush
115 Parry
100 Tacts
100 Anat
90 Heal
73 Chiv
35 Necro

My suit is something like 70 64 62 69 70 w/ 35 DCI, 25 HCI, 40 DI(needs a lil more), 20ish LMC, and my stats are something like 110 Str(120+ HPs) 148 Dex(150+ Stam) and 30 Int(70 Mana)

I use a Quarter Staff and a Diamond Mace
The Q-Staff which is decent at best due to lack of SSI and hardly any DI has:
48 HSL
42 HML
45 HLL
5 HCI (puts me at 30ish HCI)
10 DCI (caps my DCI)
10 DI

It does good enough when i get cursed and my stam gets low still it needs more DI.
My Diamond Mace is:

SC -1
Mage Weapon -22
51 ML
25 SSI
48 DI

I'm looking for one identical to it with stam leech also, but I'm not having much luck. It does a good job if I can keep my stam up (TR pots help with this one).

And that's all I have to say about that.

5. thx so much again 4 replying advice
i been trying its few time
but then i just find out i had problem with getting the key with my warrior
which i been working it on a week
i use archor, warrior with mace, a ninj with hiding n stealth n of cause a pm tamer
which make me no luck @ all
but i going 2 give few more try 2nite, 4 the ex cu tammer i going

6. You know, I have the same problem. I have a character designed to kill the dread horn, but I can't even so much as scratch Irk. On the other hand, Irk can't kill me either.

When I go with even one other person, the changelings are no trouble. But with my sampire, Irk is impossible.

7. i hope this may help u, as we all may trying 2 go through the dread hoen
but its need a tamer 2 do, i take me nearly over an hrs 2 collect the key
as i alway run out of real time 2 finish the quest
but i quite sure this weeken i may have time 2 finish @ my own
any way this how i do

i first using a tamer (120 music, pm, taming, al, vet n gm magic)
u may not need 2 have all that kind of skill, just @least u can control cu
then once u that area, use urs own cu all kill other wide cu
once its near die, its may run away, n of cause then u all follow me
the wide cu will heal itsself, once it near finish
u ridy urs own cu
n he wide cu will follow u around
@ least that i been doing 4 collecting the key

8. If only there were a UBWS that was a slayer. Yep, if only Irk had some type of slayer.... Irk, being in the Fey group.

If only there was a Fey Slayer that was UBWS....

Just be sure to use Consecrate Weapon. He'll go down quick enough.

9. "If only there was a Fey Slayer that was UBWS...."

You wouldn't be talking about the ol' Pixie Swatter now would ya? [IMG]

Yeah [IMG] if you keep consecrate weapon up, and EoO on him, he drops fairly easy with a Pixie Swatter... He is, after all, a Pixie.

Hardest part is when he gets into his "I'm over here, now I'm over here" phase.

Well, seeing as I just managed to solo a Paragon Cu Sidhe, I think I might just be ready for ol' Dread Horn, and I do have one of dem dere fly swatters. [IMG]

Ok I don't get it. Connor isn't able to kill dread with 50+ DCI, 150 dex. He's a experienced and skilled player with godly equipment.

Sleepyprince19 is able to kill with 0 DCI, 130 dex and a really cheap diamond mace (1 handed!)

This is by no means an insult to Connor, but is there something that we're all missing here? Some sort of tactic? Or trick?

14.

0 DCI

[/ QUOTE ] Pretty sure a full Darkwood has 30 DCI.

Believe me, I'd like to know myself. I know part of it has to do with me using a 1 handed weapon, but still, I'm at max DCI with nice HCI on top of it, and still get my a$$ handed to me, even with a pack full of heal & refresh pots.

16. sorry 4 all miss understanding...
as my eariler post...
already said..
i using a full darkwood armor set...
which made me after with ring n brac.
up 2 54dci/18hci/9x Di

during fight with dread...
i guess there r not much tac...
cause most time i just stand mycomp do nothings @ all...
i guess if u said there r tac, that will be do as all post said...
hoonr the dread before u fight with it so as u entry the island
inv ursself...
n as u r a warior doing solo, u can drink inv pot before u entry
during the fight
most time i just use ls, n as my hp below 70, then i use eva
stam, alway trying 2 make it full...
my avg damage 4 dread as my set up i got here r around 100
the highest damage i c r some where around 16x

n as 4 whos also trying 2 use darkwood armor set
remember if urs warrior r low on str, u can alway lowest the str req on tunic n leg
4 those whos missing damage n hci
darkwood armor set r also can help u on that

17. If Darkwood Chest and Legs are made with ASH wood you loose some HPR but your strength requirements go way down.

Chest - 95 Strength - With ash = 76 Strength
Legs - 90 Strength - With ash = 72 Strength
Pauldrons - 80 Stength
Gauntlets - 70 Strength
Gorget - 45 Strength
Crown - 25 Strength

Resists with Bloodwood are 78/108/66/78/78, 30 DCI, 12 HPR
Resists with Ash Leg and Chest is 83/96/72/74/84, 30 DCI, 8 HPR

So you loose 4 HPR, you get more balanced resists, and you lower the minimum Strength requirement for the suit to 80 (Pauldrons)

Has anyone that is a macer tried the Katrina's Crook? The mods look really good for soloing, but not sure how good the damage is with it.

I just made one of these suits, using Ash as described here, and even in Vamp form, it's near all 70's, with Fire at 67. Add in a Bracelet of Health, Crimson Cincture & Primer on Arms, and that's 22 HP Regen on the suit. Only problem is max dex with this is 146, and can't use the Mace & Shield Glasses, which does seem to cause an issue with mana leeching, as you don't get to hit quite as often. I'm going to go with a ring with Dex 6/HCI 12/DCI 14/DI 22 and brace with Dex 4/HCI 15/DCI 10/DI 20 (these are off the top of my head. server is down so might be off just a bit). I might switch the ring out for a Ring of the Vile, but I think I'd end up losing out in the long run with one since it has no DI or DCI on it. Basically, I've got 59 DCI & 27 HCI with 60ish DI, so with Divine Fury cast, I'm still near max DCI, which will help quite a bit I think. I'm going to give Paroxy a shot today and see how I do. Hopefully I'll kick that Jabba wannabe's butt.

20. I think against Paroxy you can use a full Bloodwood suit. He doesn't have that wicked curse that Dread Horn does.

21. I actually prefer it with the chest and legs made with Ash just because of the more even spread of the resists. Being at 67 Fire while in Vamp form without having to have 20+ Fire on jewels is very nice. I can use my jewels for more important things, like HCI/DCI and DI. I did find out that with Greater Agility pots, it raises my dex up to 150, so I should be good there, and against Paroxy, using the Soul Seeker, I won't even have to worry about them, as I'll be at max swing speed even at 130 dex.

It's actually a quite nice and underused weapon. It would be better with swing speed increase, but overall it's pretty good. For the big enemies, I do prefer either an extremely fast weapon with mana leech or a slower heavy hitter with hit lower defense and/or attack. But my disadvantage is that I use the darkwood suit, so I can't use mace-and-shield.

If I had mace-and-shield, I wouldn't think twice about trying peerless with Katrina's crook. It does work well against Miasma (though not as fast as I'd like).

Yea, the speed thing was my concern too. I may try it out just to test it though.

Would a soul seeker work against dread horn??

25. Piehunter

You could probably do it with one, but you lose a lot of DI using that weapon, since it doesn't have any ;<

A soul seeker will work, but you will definitely have to consecrate wep spam it. Dread is weak to physical, not cold, and soul seeker unfortunately does cold damage. [IMG]
