Sooooo it seems everyone has their own Sampire nowadays and I would like to keep up with the trends so I can make some money...10 years away from all of this packs quite the punch upon returning.

I have a warrior I am interested in turning into a Sampire and he currently has:
    Swordsmanship: 100.7
    Tactics: 100.9
    Parrying: 97.3
    Anatomy: 97.6
    Healing: 79.4

From what I have read one of the best options is the following one:

    Swordsmanship
    120
    Tactics
    120
    Bushido
    120
    Parrying
    60
    Anatomy
    120
    Necromancy
    99
    Chivalry
    95

Now the thing is Healing is already quite high and I wouldn't want to loose it, so I guess I'll take it to GM and then case in a soulstone...I don't know if I should keep Parrying at 100 or 120 or also get into a soulstone and then train until 60 again.

Any thoughts on this? Some better ideas?

    Thanks!

I am pretty sure parry can be gained from 0 to 100 pretty quickly using the 9 sheep method, so maybe it's not worth it to put into a soul stone. Healing I think makes sense to store away.

If you're on Chessy, I'm happy to help you get back on your feet.

It's just that I feel bad about ditching a skill that took quite a while to increase...maybe nowadays Healing is easy to raise?

That sounds too tempting as I woud hate to have to drop any skill...why wouldn't you recommend Sampire?

With Bushido alone and Chivalry I can take on any enemy like a Sampire?

I wouldn't mind switching myself, but I don't have the SSI to achieve 55% SSI to handle a double axe and such... I don't even have 20% SSI for a Bladed Staff... Only 10% with the Tinker's Legs I got not too long ago... In addition to that, I haven't been able to find many 120 PS on Sonoma.

I'm using Fencing as well since I ate a 120 PS, but the weapons are just too fast for 100% HLL as you all know. Heh.

So my template could be something like:

    Swordsmanship
    Tactics
    Parrying
    Anatomy
    Healing
    Bushido
    Chivalry

How much at each skill? I only have 20 skill points free after I GM all of the above...and jewelry of course.

    http://www.uoguide.com/Swing_Speed

Unless I am missing something, a SSI 35% with a stamina of 150 gets 1.25 swinging on a double axe....

Ah my mistake.. It was probably Duncan's Large Battle Axe setup that needed 55%..

It depends on how much gold can you spend on your char.

    Cheap variant (720 + 15 on jewels):
115 Swordsmanship (but try to get 120 as soon as possible)
    100 Tactics
95 Parrying (drop it to get 120 sword/bushido)
    100 Anatomy
    90 Healing
115 Bushido (get it to 120 if you have a PS)
120 Chivalry (to use DF for stats)

You can find detailed info in my guide that is sticked in this forum.

Bladed Staff: SuperSlayer, 100 HLL, 75 HML, 50 HSL, 50 DI
You will need 5 SSI on a ring (and 15 SSI from DF) to get 1.25s with 150 stamina.
If you haven't enough gold for 100 HLL then you may get 100% elemental damage (fire for arachnid/undead and cold for reptile/demon) and 75 HLL.

Double Axe: SuperSlayer, 95 HLL, 68 HML, 15 SSI, 50 DI
You can use Confidence to gain stamina from blocked hits and DF to refresh stamina.
The same notes about HLL as above.

5 SSI jewels with two mods like int/dex/str or skill (or even FC/FCR) must be cheap.
You will need DI and DCI on both jewels. Don't worry if you don't get max DCI but try to compensate it by reinforcing (increasing resists cap).
So you may have 5 "not so good mods" on jewels. 1-2 of them should be skills and the rest should be stats and/or casting.

@CorwinXX Thanks for all that, I'm having a look at your guide now.

It is true that I am developing this character to make money, so I don't have a lot. I have around 3 mill right now and considering how everyone has billions you can see I have to work hard and spend less ;)

A good way to make gold, is to participate to as much GM Events as possible and try to obtain an item from such Event. Not only on your shard, but also on other shards.

This, because these items are then sold/bought as rares and usually they range for tens of millions.

Check out the Stratics Shards' Events Forum or there are usually notes left by GMs at banks on shards announcing Events.

I would go with a traditional sampire in your case. The 100% HLL options others are discussing depend on lots of SSI on your suit and 0 on your weapon. Those SSI items are expensive. So make that a future goal and go with a sampire for now.

Healing is still hard to train. So I would get a soulstone. Then move your healing and parry to another char to hold the skills. I would save the healing. You can retrain to 60 parry in 30 min. Buy to 40 in New Haven and then hit the sheep. I do this in Horrific Beast form for the HPR. You might want to leave on your healing and move it afterwards, but it isn't necessary in HB form. When you hit the sheep, equip a weapon you have 0 skill and equip a shield. You will fly to 60 and then lock parry.

Why parry on a character with Bushido ? I thought that parry and bushido do not get along well as Bushido has parry in itself which gets messed up with the actual parry skill. I even read posts saying that by having Bushido and parry together one is actually allowing to be hit more easily.....

Also, what would be the good from having Parry so low at 60 ?

    Thanks.

Oh boy....it's hard to decide when you have so many possibilies....

Whatever I come up with has to be a cheap solution...I already used up a Soulstone I was kindly offered before with other characters so I can't use one again.

Most likelly I will go with CorwinXX suggestion at least for now and see how I do. Later I can always buy a Soulstone, case off the skills I won't need for now and then try the traditional Sampire.

I think I already read somewhere that the Parrying skill is useful by itself for some bonus as long as you do not use a shield at all, but I might be wrong...

120 Bushido with 0 Parry only has a 5% chance to block. 120 Bushido with 120 Parry has a 40% chance to block. 120 Bushido with 60 Parry you have 20% chance to block. This assumes in all cases you are using a 2H weapon (no shield). The numbers for 1H weapon with no shield is about 5% reduced. Check out the stratics table on chance to block under combat related.

The most notable point of 60 parry is that paired with 120 weapon skill plus 120 Bushido gets you the max reduction in Mana cost for special moves like AI.

Sampire may get some problems when you can't chain AI/DS, classic warrior (means with Healing skill) doesn't have such problems.
As I have written above 100% HLL is good to have but is not must to have.
SSI is not a problem for a Bladed Staff when you use DF for stats. When you use WW you can gain health and stamina from Confidence. Two years ago I did a mini spawn in SA (rats) without using Healing/VE and without HLL/HSL on my weapon. My suit was poor but Confidence gave me enough hp and stamina from blocks.

Thanks for the help CorwinXX. What stats would you recommend, by the way? I guess 104/105 dexterity and strength and whatever's left for Intelligence? I don't have a stat scroll so I'll have to make do with something like this...

Or maybe I actually need to increase Intelligence to have mana and drop Dexterity because I'm not going to use a shield anyway for Bushido to do it's job?

120 dex, base int, the rest in str
probably you will go without Mace&Shield Glasses and will get 42-48 stamina so you will have about 165 stamina (150 for 1.25s and about 15 as a 'defense' against dropping to 1.5s when you takes damage)

but you probably get some stats on jewels (and may be used some cheap +10 or +15 stats scroll)
so with items you will get: 120 dex, 100-130 str, 10+ int

dex is the most important stat because it directly changes your quality (swing speed, healing time)
while str/int are less important stats because they change your quantity (more hp and damage, more mana)
but increasing quantity you may get new quality (with 100 hp you may be killed by two heavy hits, with 150 hp you can't be killed by two heavy hits)

I always advice to start with a Classic Warrior (i.e. relay on Healing skill to heal yourself). In this case your ability to heal doesn't depends on your suit quality. You also can run away, heal yourself and come back to continue the fight.
Healing has some limitations - you can heal up to 10 hp per sec. Using VE (if your suit is good) you can heal 30 hp per sec.
So later - when you see that you usually do 100+ damage by every hit it's time to think how to advance your char (sampire or bushido paladin).

Also the 60 parry blocks some but is mainly for a mana reduction

Even a pretty basic suit on a sampire can farm miasma pretty easy... it's not going to make you 500 million in one night like an event can, but with a bag of sending and a couple hours you can pull in a million pretty easy. And that isn't counting the level 6 maps that you get and can sell or do yourself with a T-Hunter.

There are better things to farm than miasma... In those cases it requires selling items you've collected, but still.

What characteristics should a basic suit have anyway?

I agree, and I said it years and years ago that shard specific GM Event items should have ALWAYS been account bound and not transferable. Account bound, in a way that other accounts should be incapacitated to even have the ability to pick them up out of a container... This, to avoid the transferring of them using containers and not trade windows...

Only general game Event items should be transferable.

I find it outrageous that the day after the Event some of these items get sold for hundreds of millions....

Something which sells well in the game and does not require too much expensive gear is farming for imbuing reagents. A lot of them sell like 30k or 40k each and they are usually in high demand. Keep in mind though, that some of them to imbue properties like Damage Increase, Swing Speed Increase and in general those more usefull, are in a higher demand and thus can sell faster/better. You can farm them in the Abyss at the mini-spawns.

With the Vendor Search, when it eventually will work, you can set up a few vendors in your house to sell them.

    1. You should remove your mobile phone signature for security reasons
    2. Start here to acquire access to Stygian Abyss Dungeon (warning: huge spoilers! Easiest way): http://www.uoguide.com/Shrine_of_Singularity
    3. Which shard are you on? Often times there is one or even two houses with public teleporters so you can start in a public place (e.g. some Luna house) to teleport yourself
    4. Another entrance point: http://www.uoguide.com/Tomb_of_Kings
    5. And even another entrance point: http://www.uoguide.com/Stygian_Abyss_Dungeon#The_Underworld_Path
    6. Easiest Champions are: http://www.uoguide.com/Gray_Goblin_Mage_Renowned and http://www.uoguide.com/Green_Goblin_Alchemist_Renowned

I'm doing Boomerangs now as it seems to be the best item in terms of Ingot return/gain. I have 7K ingots so if there's something else that will make gain faster please share ;)

I did not care about ingot usage because ingots are cheap and can be mined very fast (go to Felucca). I think I followed one of the UOGuide guides. Or one of the Stratics' guides. I don't know. Maybe I crafted crowns? Or gargoyle armor? Hm.. I don't remember. Get yourself a crystal ball of knowledge! I think I used several Scrolls Of Alacrity last time I trained. If there is an anvil down in Despise where Satyrs dwell you could train there while you are discorded for faster gains. I don't know if there is an anvil down there.

I did buy a crystal ball of knowledge recently but didn't use it yet, might as well try it out.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes. You can take and fill BODs. Shield small bods are the best. You needn't high skill to fill them. And you can take 3 every day with each your char (need 0.1 blacksmith).

You needn't the ball for crafting skills because you can see your chances in the crafting menu.
The best is 50-60 but 60-70 is OK too.

I think for such suit about 150 durability is enough. So 1 pof per peace.

Have you some Imbuing? I don't know how much is needed to reforge 100 HLL though.

The warrior is a Human character...the first one I ever made back in 2001.

I have Imbuing on the Blacksmith but still in training and at 70 skill.

About the crystal ball you are right the menu does say everything anyway.

Guess I'll have to get cracking on those BODs to get the PoFs.

POF and Copper runics can be made easily by bribing up many many of the non-weapon BODs. Quite easy to come by. Plus a pretty good source of income if you so choose to sell them. LOTS of people want to use copper or shadow iron hammers...

I still haven't figured out what the bribing is and how do you do it...I tried it a couple of times but they just returned the very same bod back to me...maybe the reward was different and I didn't notice?

Did you pick "bribe" as option from your character first and then click the BOD you want to trade?

    Heya Theron,

You have to choose the Bribe option and a crosshair cursor will show. Then you click on the BoD you want to bribe the NPC for to upgrade it in one of 3 ways. Once the NPC reports what it would cost to upgrade, just drop the BoD on the NPC and it will be switched..

    1) Quality - Normal to Exceptional
    2) Quantity - 10-15-20
    3) Material type

It is all random whichever of the 3 are upgraded. Of course if one is at its max, then it won't be upgraded such as Exceptional quality. You can check the Stratics calculator and/or TowerOfRoses:

Yes I picked "Bribe" before clicking on the BOD...maybe I just didn't notice the change.

Bribing is 'random' in that you cannot choose which will be improved, but if you have, say 10 iron normal deed, and you bribe it, it seems like 2/3 or maybe 3/4 of the time it will improve the material, and then the other 25-30% of the time it will improve 1 or the other of quantity or quality. I have yet to see anyone post real numbers on this, but the general anecdotal understanding is that the chance to improve material is much higher than either quantity or quality.

    There are two steps:
    1. Get knew price: select an npc, choose "bribe" command and click on a bod
    2. Bribe itself: drag&drop the bod on the npc
