HI guys, I've seen a lot of post about. that young people (a.k.a teens) are really annoyin'. I think we have been (yes I said WE, I am currently 13 years old, when I started playin' I was 11, it was in 2006.) I think we have been wrongly understood, all those children you talk about, are just n00bs and newbies, tell me, a lot of new people are rude and .. well stupid, yes, the first rule of every game is etiquiette, knowledge about the game itself, this game doesn't have any In-Game tutorials. well except for the hints, but it doesn't say much. especally if you are forgein.

I do feel bad right now, beacuse if someone finds my real age, they might kick me out.

    Thank you.

Just to let you know, You should never Judge Book by it's cover, maybe I am 13, but my personality can be much diffrent, I can say that My online life is my secondary life.

  2. I was 11 or 12 when I began playing TSO in 02. And the only give away was my constant typos because I was typing to fast, I learned to control it lol. I was involved in such RP as the AVG & TCG and held Director positions in many of the RP agencies, and no one complained about me (until we trashed someone's house lol but, hey but all is fair in love & war lol).

I don't think teens are annoying on TSO. I find that they bring new creative things that many adults cant even think of. Like one of my past TSO buddies created a theme park in TC which was really popular.

    I'm 15 1/2 [IMG].

Great, but the problem is. I wish I know how to post links. THere is post that some Teens are annoyin' people. I might be young. but you know. I feel hard time, a lot of lots are Adults-Only. seriously? This game is Rated Teen. People forget that, possibly since the download stuff. nobody looks at those details.

I thought you were in your twenties, Oz.

One of the things I like about this game is the mix of all sorts of people at all stages of life. "Being someone else" is all fine and dandy, but cool people still really jump out.

I don't know if there are 2 age groups - maybe more like 5?

    - Too young to be playing and doing it without their parents permission
    - Playing with parents permission or old enough to handle it
    - Young enough to want to play, old enough to deal with the consequences
    - Old enough to know better, young enough to do it anyway

    and finally ...

    - Old enough to be your momma

I think I've moved from stage 4 to stage 5 this year. Scary!

  6. The game is rated teen because for online games, Teen is the minimum rating.

Yes lots of people forget they are playing a game originally designed not only for the adults, but for teenagers also. I find that most adults are uptight in this game. Most of the very creative players who created great and fun RP houses back in the day were there was more than stores and skilling and money lots. Now and days you will have luck if you can find an RP home.

I been an adult for about 25 years now, and I don't enter "adult only" homes. There is a reason they are saying adult only, and well . . . when your older you might choose to avoid them for the same reason I do.

I dont have a problem with the teens playing the game. But, The ones causing the problems in my lot (and I'm sure other lots as well) admitted to being 10 - 12 years old. This is an adult oriented game at times, there is no place for pre-teens and yes, some teenagers on here. This is my opinion.

Its rated T for Teen..... Its adult because adults choose to make it adult.

  12. I don't mind the teens but its not my job to censor myself in front of them because I have no censor, lol. I have met people of all different ages and enjoyed their company.

I started in '02 when i was 13 years old. I played and there was a lot of older people not censoring themselves, but it didnt matter...13 year old are not stupid. They know that the F word exists and that people say it. By that age you have already begun to form your own opions and you want to be an adult already. Which, if you are playing an online game as a second life (as i was) you tend to act more like an adult in that game because you are surrounded by adults.

I grew up in tso and i learned a lot from adults i played with that i normally would not have learned at that age...it was a good thing and not one thing do i regret while playing this game at a young age. I am now 18 and still play constantly.

I think if they are playing and are comfortable playing...and they lie and say they are 18 when tehy are really 9....they must be mature enough to handel their own adventures.

I don't mind young players (10-17). The kids I've run into in the game are very nice. What I have a problem with is when they come to my properties, which are clearly labeled 18 and up.

lol I've always found it ironic that the folks who manage their lots like a porn shop call their lots "adult" or (snicker) "mature". And in a Teen-rated game, no less. At least have the tact to take your game to Second Life, where the populations are split into teens and "old enough", and properties are further demarcated as "Mature" (there's a misnomer if there ever was one) and normal. Or use your one free hand to do a Google on sociolotron, or whatever it's called. I mean, if you're really interested in pulling in the right crowd, and avoiding curious youngins poking their head in your door, you owe it to yourself to follow your customers. You'll find a much bigger audience elsewhere than here. And aren't those sort of shenanigans against the ToS anyhow?

I have no problems with teens or anyone playing, Yes some teens can be annoying but that is not true of all teens. Judge each person as you meet them and not on there age group. I am sure some people have found older people annoying too. Does that mean we should ban there age group from lots too?

I have just 1 thing to say,

You are as old as you feel. So if you are a teen and feel like you can handle an 'adult' lot then go in and don't tell anyone your a teen. Just be sure you can handle the language (If there is any) that is flying around. If not the profanity filter is there for a reason....it blocks out those nasty words. If you find the F word offensive or are too young to know what where talking about use it.

No doubt! LOL My birthday is coming up, and it won't be long, not this year but soon I'll have to start doing all the fun stuff that women have to do at 35, especially when there's instance of cancer in the family, which there is in mine *cringes*

But seriously, I have to admit that I've had such extremely negative experiences with young teens that I am extremely reticent when I meet one in game that I know is under age, but the only time I am totally against them is when rooming in a house. I will not roomie in a house that has young teens (under 14), at all. Not necessarily because of their maturity or lack thereof, but just because I am grown and sometimes in game things slip and you pop off with something obscenity wise, and yes I do know that most if not all teens have heard it before, but I have personal issues with doing it when I know kids are around....in RL as well as in game. Let somebody else influence them with it....I don't want it to be me.

On the other hand, as far as just being friends with them, that I have no problem with at all if they are anywhere near mature enough to handle a basic intelligent conversation and show maturity not to throw a tantrum when something doesn't go their way.

I would also never report somebody in-game for being underage solely, unless they were being a general nuisance on top of it, OR if there is a situation where I see an adult trying to take advantage of them in any way. In that instance I will most definitely step in and report both of them.....the adult for doing that and the kid to get them out of the game even if just long enough for their parents to send that letter to EA, but in the process that potential pedophile will have lost interest when that sim never shows back up and will have found a new target. I know the popular opinion is that its not up to us to babysit somebody else's kids, but if I stand by and let a kid be harmed, whether in real life or in game I'm gonna have to answer for that at the end of my life and I just rather not have to because there is no justification for allowing an innocent child to get hurt if there's something you can do to prevent it.

Really you should not stand aside and let an adult get taken advantage of either if you know for sure what is going on, but that adult would be more equipped to take care of his/herself and report the person attempting to mess with them themselves, so the only time you really should have to intervene in that case is if the person is obviously operating with some kind of diminished mental capacity. If that is the case then they fall under the same case of innocence the way children do.

*NOIP as far as posters here go, but a question directed at the mods*

Wasn't there a BIG thing in HL a while ago about internet safety and it was reiterated several times that Stratics will not allow minors to post their age, nor anybody else to post a minor's age if they know it? If that's still the case then a bunch of posts need to be edited by the authors of the post, for your own protection guys. A person doesn't have to be registered here to read these posts. Posting personal info like that can really lead to some serious stuff in some cases, and as I said in my other posts, I just couldn't let it slide when this dawned on me after seeing how many people posted their RL age.

If there isn't, there should be.

Sorry -- old crotchety lady talking here. I try to never second-guess other parents, but 10-11-12 is just too young for an online game like this. Thirteen, maybe, but younger than that is just too young regardless, IMHO.

And, demonstrating a lack of judgment by doing things like openly disclosing you are underage in an online forum is exactly why. They really are out to get you, you know -- it's not just paranoia.

And, as long as I am on this rant, it IS your responsibility to censor yourself if you find there is someone underage in a house, adults! You can choose not to accept that responsibility, but it certainly does NOT abdicate you from it.

How many 13-50 year olds are there in the world... just by posting your age does not create a SEVERE case, as long as you don't give away names, pictures or addresses.

You can do surveys that ask for age.

Myspace asks for age and even if its a private page users can still see the age.

The only reason myspace is such a predator site is because there are a lot of stupid kids who think nothing is going to happen to them if they give away there names and meet people in real life....! This is not the internets or myspace's fault, its the fault of the parents for not teaching the kids and interfering with their plans, and the kids fault for being so stupid.

    I'm not that stupid.

And that recent big thing in Holland was about how pictures of the Queen's 5 or 7 year old granddaughter and other children's pictures were taken and posted on a porn/stalker website. Which is illegal in many countries.

    LOL, Aster.

I am at Stage 6: Old enough to be your GRAN.

A few of my best TSO friends were below age 13 when I met them in game. Some seemed so mature in their wit and writing style that I was shocked to find they were not college graduates. I can't say that any certain age begets more pests. I've known some college aged people who were royal pains, and a few Stage 5/6 who were worse than nails on a chaulkboard.

Truly, I think one of the major positive aspects of this game is that it transcends A/S/L as well as nationality limits. "Be someone else" covers age as well. I think we need to avoid generalities and stereotypes.
