Siege is dead.. not a soul, let us leave... I can understand not letting people transfer 2, but off should be allowed. Have a good day.

Folks knew what they signed up for when starting Siege. No Dev time should be used to allow folks to leave. Any Dev time, if any, should be for positive change. 'nuff said.

It's the faction pvp'ers who are complaining....most are moving to ATL or other shards for the insurance. All the rest of us on siege are doing just fine.

I agree with kelmo, if we get some dev time on siege it should be to fix actual problems, like the many broken prodo systems pushed onto siege that don't make sense. (like is there a reason on siege the harder ilish spawns don't give power scrolls, or that factions is so broken 1 kill gives you rank 10 and you can buy super cheap artys stronger than anything else on the shard)

Get the **** out of here. Leaving for insurance? Are you ****ing kidding me? We've played Siege for 6 plus years because there was NO INSURANCE. However, back then there were people to fight. Now days it's a damn ghost town. That's why people have left. You don't pvp. You're a pvmer that probably stealth's to and from a monster spawn. Pathetic. Or you're one of those awesome thiefs.. lol. Let me drop a little knowledge bomb on ya. To pvp, you need to have other competent players to fight. Killing a crafter/pvmer/whatever you call yourself is no fun. There is no fight. It's an auto kill.

Factions isn't broke either. When you have a dead shard with a hand full of players in factions, the most having about 20 points. It doesn't take a lot of points to be in the top 10%.

Your post is so full of **** it makes me sick. Go back under your rock and keep your mouth shut :gun:

and Yes. Allow transfers off Siege. I've dumped about 300 dollars into soulstones that I would like to continue using on shards that are functioning properly.

Factions is the most broken system ever. Especially for Siege. Just because your name is on an item does not mean you own it... You own it by keeping it. Once it is gone... *shrugs*

Disagree, I have tons of stuff on Siege, but I knew playing there and building what I had, it would never leave.

And spare me the I spent RL money on stuff, so did everyone else on Siege, you knew it when you bought it.

Start life anew on anther shard, it'll do you wonders.

Wait, I always thought you could transfer off siege, but not to it. Was this changed or was transfers out always blocked?

Would suck for the vets that got the transfer tokens as gifts a few years ago...

three things would go a long way to fixing seige

    1) get rid of faction gear. if you don't want to play faction your at a serious disadvantage pvp wise on seige. imbuing levels the field on prodo shards considerably but the cost of re-equipping yourself with imbued gear on seige both time and gold far outweigh re equip with faction gear.

    2) disable the ability to stealth or limit it to only the thief class that requires a hefty amount of points in snooping/stealing/hide/ stealth etc...

    3) Allow placement of a second house separate from the prodo shards or at least limit the size of a house to allow for more placement so say if you have a castle on a prodo shard you cant place more than a 7x7. Or and i think this should be done in prodo shards as well, allow for player housing options in the cities. i mean seriously when is the last time anyone went to (insert town name except luna, brit here)

you give me no 3 alone, i'd be back there in a minute.

    my 2 shillings worth.

It was always part of Siege, it appears to be those who scared away the community that are tired of being alone now. Keep it as it is. If you want to leave Siege, leave it and move to a trammy server. There is nothing stopping you, just your developed characters and stuff...all of which is easy enough to replace. Especially with as good a group of PvPers you claim to be...la

Sad but siege was a no transfer shard. I'd rather the team spend time coding something that works better there instead of coding more people able to leave....might aswell close the thing down if the last 5 people leave.

    Hmm...

Were I to consider returning to UO, my preference would actually be to play Siege, purely based upon the passion of those who do still play there. That said though, having never had characters there, I would have to start new ones from scratch.

Now although I wouldn't mind that were a clean slate, classic shard to arrive, with everyone starting from scratch, I'm not so sure I could be bothered to start completely from scratch on an existing shard, as I would probably re-activate two accounts with one using a tamer or PvP template of some description and the other a crafter/gatherer.

    So...

How's about the ability to transfer a single, naked but developed character from another shard, to Siege? One way switch. No going back.

I could give two hoots about the "stuff", as I pretty much left anything decent in the houses I let go IDOC, so others could partake of the usual IDOC bun-fight, when I closed my accounts.

    Just a thought...

if u let people off that will only make siege worse
better to improve it that shard should be one of the best
all i would like is people should be allowed a house there and on prodo shards and maybe a few more ideas to make it more appealing

ive tried siege many times and i love it
what i dont love is searching for hours and only finding like 3 people max
if we cant xfer there and everything that happens on siege stays on siege then why cant we place houses there and keep prodo ones?
not like they are low on house spots

honestly i been hoping for a classic shard for along time now but if they made siege better i would definately play there

    Kelmo grabs a soap box!

You are hearing just one side of this story. I am sure many of you have seen a lot of negative posts about Siege as well a UO in general.

Siege is a very low population shard. This is true. Siege is a special rule set that only appeals to some few. That is just the way it is.

PvP has declined to almost non existent. There are several reasons for this. I will not list all of those here... it would just start a huge argument.

You can roam much of Siege for hours and not see another player. This is true. The afore mentioned low population and the survival techniques that many of the denizens of Siege use explain this.

Just because you do not see us does not mean we are not there. We are hidden or out of the way. Roving bands of PKers of the past (some even called themselves PvPers, but they really attacked any thing that moved), some few solo PKers and a noted lack of "good guys" made sure of this.

It was an adapt or die sort of thing. The predators complain of "stealthers" etc. *shrugs* Any attack I can survive with gear intact, I consider a win.

Why do the wolves not fight each other? That is a damn good question.

In my opinion, it is because they try to impose rules on a lawless society. By this I mean a system of looting and 'buy back' rules that last until one perceived slight sets the whole thing off. (Siege folk will know exactly what I mean)

    *shrugs*

Just because some few PvPers say the shard is dead does not mean the shard is lifeless.

Too be fair, I have not seen anything like this in the eight years or so I have played on Siege. There is a huge void. What is in store for Siege? I do not know. Only the players as a whole and the Dev team can have any real influence on that.

what I don't understand is why not make Siege as close as possable to a classic shard at this point?

I never liked siege because it is way to difficlut to make a fighter and a mule.
It was so basic to me that you need a mule to support your fighter.
I know it can be done now with stones.

If people do not want to be on Siege let them leave, its better for the shard to have people who want to be there. Although I am not active on Siege right now, my character will stay there until the very end.

Besides, this could be a good source of income for EA. Siege is the easiest shard to raise taming on. So people would come, train taming and leave giving EA $20 every time.

You'd rather FORCE people to stay where they hate it? Than allow them to move and once again enjoy UO? That seems pretty messed up.

Unless you have more then one account its one char on that shard who's forced to be there. I've got two accounts with two chars on Seige but neither of them are forced to be there. If I want to play on seige I log in, if not its to napa, baja, Gl or any of the other west coast shards where I have chars...no one is forced to do anything.

It takes two days to work a char on a normal shard to a decent level, a week or two to have a char that can fight while farming gold/silver and your done.

If you don't want to let people transfer off because you're afraid the shard will die. Yet you say it's so easy to make a new character and never log back onto Siege... why not just let them transfer? At least this was EA gets some money and helps keep the game alive that much more.

Nobody is forced to stay anywhere, just as nobody is forced to play anywhere. If they want to join another shard...they can. The fact they can't transfer characters does not force them to stay...la

I have honestly mixed emotions regarding transfers OFF of Siege.

When we first made our chrs. ON Siege we knew it was a no transfers OFF nor ON to Siege, we all had to start all over with newbies on Siege, if we wanted to play there.

I would have loved to transfer some fully DONE chrs. I had on another shard, TO Siege back in 2004, but the shard rules of EA, stated NO TRANSFERS on nor off Siege Perilous.
I made newbies on Siege, after playin UO several years, on Chesapeake.

It seems a tad unfair; to ask fully made SP chrs. to be permitted OFF, if the shard does not permit others with fully made chrs. on other shards, whom may wish to play Siege to be likewise permitted [to transfer] ON to Siege !

WE had to begin on SIEGE as newb chrs. seems kinda silly contradictory that [we opted for the harder route then], to COME to Siege and now some wish for [the EASY route to ask to transfer OFF] with fully made chrs. with full piles of vet rewards and soulstones etc.

WE had to COME to Siege leaving all that we earned behind, on the shard we WERE playing upon, and start from scratch on Siege, with nothing !

The rules of EA were harsh..if you wish TO play Siege you can not transfer any characters..TO Siege, from any other shard.

Perhaps it is maybe time to change that rule !

And perhaps IF EA opts to shut down Siege for whatever reasons whenever, then they SHOULD then, permit 'free' transfers OFF of Siege to any shard of one's chosing as a form of customer compensation !

For those whom want OFF of Siege and want off it to take all their stuff/skills and chrs. with them to some other shard, it would be only fair for EA to permit folks on other shards to do the same in reverse, permitting them to transfer TO Siege as well. Perhaps those whom wished TO come to Siege then would, adding to the population on Siege.

But I do not see EA doing the change.

Perhaps they will reconsider the transfers OFF as well as ON to Siege one day when they have time and nothing else on their dev. team agenda ?

We had start OVER to get to play on Siege..it probably should be the same EXITING Siege.

If you are from the HARD SHARD ie SIEGE, starting over from scratch with no skills no rewards no sstones, should not be such an issue.

No harder than it was for US to come to Siege...with nothing, as newbies !

I am not against transferring OFF, if they wish to go, GO ! But try to remember when the shoe is/was on the other foot...we had to start on Siege, with nothing !

Would not the happy medium be, as I've mentioned earlier, to permit character transfers to and from Siege, but naked characters only... no items or "stuff"? You transfer your character, but no worldly goods, so to speak. :)

yeah... 5 accounts, 5 fully developed characters, 58 soulstones (not all store bought) and lots of fun.

Siege was the **** from about 2004 to as late as 2008. PvP, PvM, crafting anytime you wanted/needed it. Then it just hit a brick wall and fell apart. Now it's completely dead. I will say this. It's not a game breaker starting new on another shard. It's just, the skills worked up on siege took such a long time it sucks having to redo them. I can see not transferring in. That would completely circumvent the whole purpose of hard training. However, transferring off :sad2: I came to Siege knowing it was non transferable. But like I said earlier, it was a pretty damn exciting place when I started.

Any who, I hear that the can't transfer due to the way the shard is coded. Cross my fingers and pray that something can be done.. lol

From your other posts around here I know you spew a bunch of non sense.. Most of which is not proper English and horribly written.

But before the recent changes to skill gain, it would take 3-4 months to max a single character. Now it takes about 2 weeks. Tell me how that is lazy? If anything, Siege players have the patience of a damn Saint.

This is one of the most idiotic statements I've read on stratics lately.

It sure would take alot of time and coding to allow players to transfer off wouldn't it?

    Gimme an effin' break.

I've seen runes on almost every shard I play on soliciting players to come join Seige Perilous.

Also I dont' have a dog in this fight. I don't have any characters on SP...never had never will.

To force players to stay on what is essential a sinking ship is not healthy for the game or UO in general.

Let me guess Kelmo...you were the one dropping runes asking players to come to SP!?

Let them leave if they want to...

Actually there were probably a lot of Siege players whom have dropped books and messages to come try Siege [over the years].

I think many of us have friended guild leaders of NEW guild of Siege, into our homes upon other shards, to talk to folks too, about Siege, especially if they did show any interest to try Siege.

NEW guild, assists those whom wish to come try Siege for their first month or so on Siege, and that guild and many others too, have tried to help new *immigrants* to Siege and have done so for several years. They have done so, not just to try to spark some players interest in trying Siege and hopefully to remain there, but also because that community was thriving and fun and pretty thick as a community, Siege has always offered something different and unique as a shard, with one ruleset, feluccan only all over the land masses, to those whom actually were interested in trying something quite unique and different than shards, that they were playing upon.

That is why so many albeit less customer base than before are and oft remain so passionate regarding Siege Perilous.

They have asked for dev. team attention for yrs. to help Siege to GROW, instead of be nearly ignored to death. That is why so many DO wish to now leave...it has become more like playin on a shard you are watching EA letting it, being left alone and ignored to death... to DIE !

And that does not seem remotely fair to any of us as a customer base. No matter how puny a population IS, like say Oceania, Siege just wishes to get some LOVE some help and Siege has not & it is not getting it. :(

I myself 13 yrs. in Ultima Online as a customer, have now had nearly 50/50 in amt of yrs. spent on Chesapeake first then on Siege. I do feel I still belong to BOTH communities in one form or another. Yet it is still quite sad to wander around in what was or has become ghosts of once vibrant full player run towns now nothing but IDOC homes one after another, vanishing off the landscape of Siege Perilous.

The larger heartache for Siege players, I suppose, be they pks pvpers crafters any thing, is seeing neglect or what surely feels like neglect, kill off any shard, of the UO customer base.

Siege is different, it's coding was always unique and different, and while not always appealing to the masses, only a % of UO customers, it should be something well worth being saved, and kept alive [also] and not left to die, of neglect.

We as customers in and of our own selves can not fix what may be a larger symptom of what may be happening, to UO everywhere, dwidling populations in game, beyond Siege Perilous alone.

But every shard should, get some attention, fixes etc. rather than feelin like they have gotten nearly none, over the past several yrs. as paying customer base.

Those whom prefer to play UO as pvpers need others TO fight in game, be it factions or just fights that is what is fun for them in UO, the style of play they wish to keep on doing. Those whom may *craft* also need THEM to buy our stuff, or we too have nothing to DO in UO either, with no one to sell to, and just get to hear the echos of voices that were once there, with us all happily payin EA to play all together be it on Siege Perilous, as a community of UO, or any other shard where population, is also dwidling down.

Mark my words different as it may be what happens to Siege or an Oceania or any other shard...is happening slowly all over. We should be concerned even if one does not play on Siege, as to what happens to it, cuz what happens to Siege can happen on any other shard too with an overall sorrowful feelin of being ignored to death as a customer base.

And any huge demise of UO population anywhere, sucks and hurts us all ! I think every customer on any shard anywhere only wishes for their shard to thrive and grow  not be left to die a painful slow UO death ! :(
