Herald hasn't been updated in almost 2 weeks.
hey the log in screen still thinks its oct what do you expect
daily updates (on weekdays) especially regarding the lag fix
instant patch screen updates whenever there is a problem etc..
You never realize what you have until its gone.
Jeremy really did take good care of us.
first thing we need is every monday morning a note by 1130 eastern read your weekend complains am going to see what i can do however you know i already looked at some and you either need to wait for next publish or simply need to wait till we can get to or not able to work on this at this time then a wednessday ok we are or are not doing any publish this week. noted the issues added this week so far. then friday an answer to this week we worked on simple stuff like santa working hard to get you your presents hopefully the raindeer will be departing dec xx . next step senerio will probably occurr date or with next patch which we are shooting for on
test around . if a date was missed well we ran into a problem so new date will hopefully be date . maybe a weekly post be each dev with we spent time this week working on ie cussion blow still dont like it so still on list or trying to sent to qa let see what happens . still working on finalising em what a pain hopefully will have it ready to annouce next week or still working on em can not believe it will still take another week
When the devs are silent it usually means they are very busy working on something. When they have time to talk it usually means they just finished the busy part of their dev cycle.
Silent devs is not a bad thing. It just means they're busy or on vacation
"Silent devs is not a bad thing. It just means they're busy or on vacation"
this is one thing not a big one now the fact that the login screen that 100% of players use is outdated by so much is huge and just totally unacceptable
Given today's economy I would say silence is bad. Over the course of UO silence has usually preceded some internal change or move. Since they are making us wait for and pay for 11th anniversary rewards I would take that to mean the company has moved on and is just milking us for that last few coins before pulling the plug.
Have to agree with this.. I kind of hope and pray the silence means there busy at work on getting SA ready, but you never know with things that are going on in todays economy. It would just be nice to hear from them so we know there still around..hehe. I least would have thought by now we would hear when the 11th anniversary stuff would be for sale and maybe abit more about what will be in Pub 57 and when to expect it on test center.
No, given the fact that there was a long holiday weekend last weekend, the silence is ABSOLUTELY NORMAL.
Only if nothing is put up THIS Friday, is there reason to suspect something.
What is with all these cranial self-proctologists, trying to find issues where there are none?
No news in my book..is dang good news... ;D
Kindof what to say yea.. because when something occurs it generally is a nerf, to something good, a "temperary weakening" of a skill, or the removal of XXX... but that isn't really that bad, really when the news is, oh yea.. there is lag, and yeah... hrmm best of luck to y'all's "|
But some info or just a random fiction postion would be nice... or maybe they are training the new EMs and there is going to be a slew of things being posted now, with all the cool events and such :| hrmmm
I miss jeremy too :O :| :'(
Figuring it is off of a holiday and the fact that when we don't hear something in awhile they are busy doing something... not to concerned here.
I would rather have news that really told me something then fluff news just to say they told us something this week...
Its the Holidays, EA is always quiet from the week of Thanksgiving until about 2 weeks after New Years.
they are taking your rl $$ without doing something!
sont say this to someone else ok?
its a secret!
Heheh, yeah I kinda suffer from rectal occulosis myself, considering that nothing has been said, actually for a while before the holiday
Someone was spreading a rumor that there was a Pub coming up soon. Kinda be nice to hear some more about that rumor...even if it was to say we wont get it till February.
I realized that. She posted like every day, and at least tried to get out voices out to the team. I know that was her job an all but, still, I found her genuine nature impressive.
No hate for the new kid, there still time to fill those big shoes.
this is foolishness, communicating with the playerbase should be part of their dev cycle.
yeah, and since there's been horrible lag for over a month, you figure we might hear something about that once in a while.
This is insulting, especially coming from a moderator. There has been severe, game stopping lag for over a month. I call that a major issue.
I think it's silly you call that foolishness, because that's how it works and it's an efficient way for it to work.
The devs are generally busy a lot of the time, because they want to do so much to UO that it takes a lot of their time to do what they want to do. If they spent a lot of time talking to the community (on top of their internal meetings, holidays and other overhead) they wouldn't have enough time to get publishes done before internal deadlines.
The devs are always quiet this time of year and I think they are always trying to get one last publish out before the end of the year at this time of year. I think the general idea is to give players something to chew on while the devs are taking vacation to see family and whatnot.
I think it is unreasonable and unrealistic to expect devs (as in designers and coders) to take a lot of time out of their already busy days to come talk with the community. I think it's more realistic to expect to see devs participating with the community when they are looking for direct feedback or when they are just kicking loose for a moment.
I think the devs lurk here a lot more than they post.
It's the job of the community coordinator to keep the players in touch with what's coming without releasing information before the information is deemed credible. Obviously, things like the release of KR happen when miscommunication happens in this channel.
EA decided that UO didn't need a dedicated community coordinator, so we'll just have to make due with the coordinator we have (and she's being stretched to cover at least 2 communities)
I agree it would be good if the website was getting updates more than once every 2 weeks.
you seem to have structured this whole post as a gotcha moment against me while, if anything, you have simply agreed with me in a long winded way. you misunderstood my post. as part of the Dev cycle, the person who is supposed to be communicating with us should be doing that. Joanne has made like 5 posts in the past 3 weeks.
specifically, there was 1 post regarding the lag about 2 weeks ago and that was before the ping/packet loss issue was fixed, I feel that the current stutter stepping problem has not even been acknowledged by anyone. this is totally unacceptable as it is borderline game stopping. certainly it is more important than 11th anniversary items, holiday gifts, pub 57 etc... the game is lagged and broken for a lot of people. just log onto LS and start asking people about it. it should be top priority.
Its not like we get anything usefull anyway.
What SA sometime this summer.
Patch 57 is really big will becoming out soon.
When we get "hey we are listening to you a doing this" that will be nice.
Until then silence is fine.
