Anyone else bored?

Discussion in 'UHall' started by SpaceYourFace, Jan 17, 2010.

  1. Let me start off by saying that I came back to UO after about a 2 year break last march and was very happy with the events we have had since then. They were steady with hardly any delay between them and an expansion thrown off in the middle. There was more new content in 8 months than i remember getting in 2 years before I quit playing last time. Thank you very much for the work devs :thumbup1: That said!!!!

Lets get this show on the road already. A random invasion would be nice. Just something to hold us over while you guys come up with somethign cool. Also throw something in that involves pvp. We had an event on napa that was done in tram one night and fel the next and the fel event was a blast. Mabe a yew gate invasion. Whatever it is i need something to do before football season is over so I can stay away from the bar and save some money.

I rarely attend EM events. However, I'm a little bit curious about whether or not there is a common theme building up across the shards that have had regular and frequent EM events. Any thoughts from people who play multiple shards and participate in the EM events about what major events the EMs might be preparing us for, other than perhaps the rebuilding of Magincia? Are you seeing anything that makes you think there will be an event focusing on the refugees and void creatures in above-ground Ter Mur?

well for one ! the area in the gargoyle lands that has been previously blocked for entry was where the event was i now have runes to there !

Also the guy we were chasing for dawn and the gargoyle queen was a elite archer of casca's I believe! We almost cought him but he got away and dawn said when he surfaced from his hide out we would try again!

if you are on ls shard i would be happy to take you there ! i would take screen shots but they wont work for me in windows 7 for some reason!

  5. I remember the orc and savage invasion in del and papua. I had a blast trying to collect all the different color masks. Or the undead invasion back in the day in trinsic. Or the generals that invaded brit. Really I just want somethig to do to hold me over till the main events start. Im getting tried of working disco on my tamer. Or farming stuff in the abyss to sell on my vendor.

I like invasions and such, but mainly I like running plot lines. I haven't been involved in the EM events much, mainly because I'm trying to build up characters and other things, and timing and outside factors come into play too. But it does seem that Casca events are more "official", and replace the old GM plots to some extent. The main difference seems to be player participation. Invasions and the like seems to be a big thing that's missing.

Also, EM events seem to be somewhat separated from normal UO life. I think that needs to be changed, IMO.

I also wonder how difficult they are to set up, and what kinds of restrictions are placed on the EMs. I really would like to see these events more "prime time" in the world of UO, more involved in Sosaria's daily life. They're too far in the background. Or maybe that's just me?

I guess I'm far from bored, Between RP, the EM events, and training up characters and skills as well as working on Imbuing gathering ingredients, going hunting, doing spawns.... and what-not who the heck has time for boredom???

I love RP so I always have something to do there.

Perhaps it's time you tried doing something new in-game. Something you haven't tried before... a whole new way of gameplay....

I think if you look around on your shard you could find something going on... perhaps you might consider joining a fishing guild? How about trying factions??? If all you've ever done is Fel Champ spawns then maybe it's time you tried your hand at some hunting in Trammel...

Of course there are those who "claim" they have done everything there is to do in-game... I say PHOOEY on YOU! That is not possible. Have you GMed every skill in-game? How about challenge yourself to doing something like... starting on a new shard and building a 7x GM char see how long it takes you? You could try starting a new guild... You could try doing something like holding some public event especially if you are really bored... this could not only fix your boredom but it would give others something to do.

You can do something as easy as a net toss... Bunny bash, Hold an archery contest... Do a scavenger hunt. There are dozens of things you can do. Just a matter of willingness... and imagination.

Though likely the problem lies in you, and your interest level in all things, not just UO. Depression and seasonal depression can effect the way you relate to things you once enjoyed. Often this time of year people suffer from Seasonal Depression and things they once enjoyed and loved no longer bring them fulfillment. Not saying this is your problem but... it could be a factor.

Hope you can rekindle your fun...

Hope that god will come back ?

EA that is... a god amongst gods and a god.

If you stop and think about it for a moment... we're starved, on our knees... saying...

give us an invasion or SOMETHING that makes us feel we're doing something that will change anything, as subtle as may be.

Thats the UO paradox, and I'm sure none of the developpers would understand that first hand, perhaps in the process, and there's a steady pattern don't you think ?

They all quit, sooner or later, all quit with incomplete jobs and storylines, realising how deep the rabbit hole goes ; we should not blame them, we should rather blame ourselves for letting it happen.

Each of us is responsible, to different degrees... else what would be the point of us gathering here, right ?

    I know I'm not crazy... :rant2:

UNITE BEFORE ITS TOO LATE !

I think UO boredom is self induced. When it starts gettin stale do something else for awhile even if its another game. I know I`ve encouraged my boredom but thats only cause I`m laid off and pretty much have nothing to do but wait for the check and play UO.

I haven`t been on ina few days, even let about 30 plants die. Its good to step away and give yourself time to miss it. Loggin in everyday when your frustrated or seriously bored will do nothing but harm your outlook. Its not going anywhere, just take a step back and log in next week.

    Cya in BFH!

    Or not!

    :)

you know, back in the day, before video games, or computer games....people growing up as kids had "imagination" .....you're like, wtf is that??

It's when you use your mind and think up ways to amuse yourself.....like what little ones do on the monkey bars at the park.

UO has the same concept....here's the park, amuse yourself. UO is not a daycare center, where you're given activities to keep you busy.

Want to see some really creative minds, go visit the Castles & Keeps forum, look at the thought that went into the decor they display. Visit Luna Mall, look at how the merchants, not all, but alot, get into strategizing their ware to sell. That takes time.

No, if you're bored, it's you.

End with a pun, a witticism, a joke, a balleyhoo...........

How many psychologists does it take to change a lightbulb??

One, but the lightbulb really has to want to change.

I don't do any of that nor I am bored. I never said that, you life is at stake, thats the nature of the game.

This is true, but it can also have the opposite effect... I have seasonal affective disorder and UO kills a lot of time when I feel anti social in RL.

TBH, I've had more fun in the past 2-3 months than I've had in the past 2 years.
