NO infact that account is now being viewed by tier 3 and Im having a hell of a time getting them to do anything the e mail is from so long ago its been forgotten, My nephew who owned the account even has offered to talk to them to get it back up!

  3. :lick: pffffft!
Seer accounts should not be transferable (reclaimable, yes)
    the "free time / award"
was to/for THE PLAYER, the volunteer, le perthone ... not "the account"
    >should not be< transferable / inheritable

pfffft!:talktothehand: let me borrow or buy your honor ... you don't seem to be >using< it at the moment ...

Who are you to decide that the accounts should no longer be free for any reason?

The time and effort was given long ago and it is a reward that has a specific amount of time attached to it. 2033 was the date on my old Seer account I believe.

If they had given Seers rare items instead of prepaid account time would you also want the items deleted or given back?

And btw, the reward was for "the account" ... not the player. It was attached to your account info. It was most certainly not attached to the player/person.
When someone buys an established account they are entitled to all it comes with good or bad. If the account had well known, disliked characters you also inherit that bad reputation whether you want it or not.

You really should attempt to know what you are talking about when you start another one of your disjointed, only listen to me, William Shatner rants.

Let me clairify this right now... THIS is still my nephew's account!!! I am the keeper of it only.
All info on it is his, this is why I am having trouble in the first place with linking it to my master account. 2nd I left it all with his info because it IS his account - period. He and I served UO players in our roles as Seer and Counselor in good standing. My "free for life" account was taken back due to the others who sue'd EA. His was untainted. He deserves his "free " account.
    So Back off Fayled.
We took no pay in giving our fellow players enjoyment in quests and events of years ago. We served as friendly help and guidance to our fellow players and in return we took the gift of a "free for life of the game" account.
You see I dont care really if the "free" is gone, I just want to link it so i can pay for it and keep playing holding it for him. He has come and gone in UO many times as he was in the militay, and now a family man with children who take 99% of his free time to raise. I will hold this account till UO closes its door, for him as he wants to play. If that isnt good enough for you, go suck and egg! Petra forgive me, I am slightly angry for the calouse treatment of Seers and Counselors who gave their all to players.... it burns my tail to have inconsiderates like this bemoan their gift to players in UO in the past.

I happen to agree with Fayled.

The person who was the Seer did all the work...why should someone swoop in and grab up someone elses hard work?

If I built the empire state building and somoene else laid claim to it I'd be rather upset.

I can understand if your free for life Seer account is blocked trying to get back into it.
But why link it if it is free?

    Just asking.

  12. Probably be necessary IF they're playing it and want to apply some codes to it, upgrades expansions boosters transfers name changes sex changes ...
some can be acquired ingame ... some must be applied through accounting ... alot of things are available only through UOGamecodes
That MAY be seen as essential by them ...

As I understand it, the contract between the seers and EA said a free account for life. Shouldnt matter who logs onto it, if I was quitting for a bit, or gonna be working long hours, whatever, and let my kids have it to play, so what? The cost to EA is the same either way.
A lot of this griping is just jealousy, nothing more nothing less.

Consider it the same as a retirement program. I worked for the state of Texas for 30 years and retired. The owe me a retirement check every month, whether I still live in the state or not. And if I am travelling, they still owe me that check, even if I want it mailed to the kids' house.

Let the seer accounts be active, I was around in the day, those were good times and the seers did an excellent service for everyone.

  14. You raise an interesting detail for examination,

Is any change affected upon the "Seer's account" IF they transfer ownership through the Process of transfer that EA provides?
The one that is paid for ...
noway to monitor the rmt that may be going on un-noticed ...so ...

Lets stick with the approved fee paid process Through EA.

    Hail Sosarians,

The "Great Powers" some call them EA in shortened form, sought and found many to aid, guide, and serve Sosarians in addition to those directly paid to so do. These many were compensated with special considerations attached to the Oracles by which they entered Sosaria.

These special "Oracles" were left empowered both by deliberate decision and time.

Am I diminished because Great Powers shined upon or blessed others? I answer Nay, I am not. Let those who earned these blessings, as well as those to whom they are passed, Rejoice, enjoy the blessing, and hopefully such Oracles will continue blessing others as those before them have.

May all be guided by Greater Angels in considering these questions. Let not jealousy, nor petty enmity twist thy reason nor mar the kindness that doth live in thy hearts.

I say Thank You to the Great Powers who found these Angels; I say Thank You to all who may accept such Oracles asking only that they try to Honor the Spirits that held these Oracles originally and before the current bearers.

Let us all embrace such as these.

    An SoS

  16. :blushing: *ahem*

Are you saying that a Seer's free status IS passed Through the Paid Process of account transfer ... "Oracles"?
Do they get to "free out" over around Paying a fee to transfer the account, wiping it of marks?
Is there >no other< artifact and or special effect > on < the account?no "special" recall, or notice or anything of even the most minor attribute about the account, that >seperates< a Seer account from a trial account ...??
ALL client properties are the same, and invisible to all other accounts ...
except that "Bob The Seer used to be here" ?

What are the Seer's so sensitive about?

free acccount, Life? I know I'm jealous - but then I remind myself that it was in return for their free service with a zero expectation of reward/return.
The free acct given them is nothing short of AWESOME in my book.
for those affected, I hope your problem is resolved soon

    11. Consideration: In consideration for your time volunteered as a Counselor, your player account will be free of any monthly subscriptions fees charged by OSI to its customers for access to the Game.

    12. Ownership of the Account: Because your account will have access to the special Counselor abilities and commands, you agree that during your involvement in the Counselor program, you will not sell or transfer your game account, nor allow any 3rd Party access to your Counselor character in any manner without the prior written consent of OSI.

    13. Termination by OSI: Your affiliation with the Counselor program can be terminated at any time by OSI, for any or no reason and at its sole discretion.

    14. Termination by Counselor: If you decide you don't want to be a Counselor any more, for whatever reason, you can terminate your affiliation as a Counselor at any time with no hard feelings on our part. We do ask that you don't leave us in a lurch and give us at least one weeks' warning, so that we have the opportunity to fill your shifts without having to scramble at the last minute to do so.

So are you trying to tell us that SEERs had a different contract with UO?

#13 is the catch all just like with any account. EA has the right to stop it anytime they want. Consider yourself luck to have played for free this long.

The kicker tho is in #12.
During your involvement...since it's cancelled there is no involvement in it, so they can do what they want to with the account. They no longer have the powers, it's just their account, that happened to be a seer account at one time. And if the compensation was free gametime, they earned it. :)

My friend had a Seer account. It was blocked on the first day. She did not panic or scream. She understood very fast what happend. She was happy to had the advantage for this long. The next morning she went to account management and without a guide she took care of it and fixed her account.

Then again, she is a smart woman. :)

Ok let me explain this so you all understand this plain as day...
Counselors operated off a EA/UO generated account as did Seers, & Troubadors. The Free account was one of our own we had them make "free for life" after EA took over Origin.

That part of the Tos was from day one when Counselors used their own accounts for this duty. EA changed that shrotly after taking full control of Origin. We had to sign contracts and send information that made us virtual employees of EA without paid compensation. We were under penalty of loosing all our accounts for breaking any of those rules in the contract, and it is still binding as I was informed reciently. The selling and 3rd party use of the "counselor" account is what it is refreing to. Not our personal accounts we chose to be the free one.

Farc hunny, my problem is I left it as my nephew had it as it is still his account in our book. He has free reign on it at any time he likes to even the point of him requesting it back. I left it with his old info on it. I am at fault for not changing it to my own but like I said before. He served the players of UO and gave all he served great times, I should know I was his test bunny. All who are still in game who served UO players deserve their free accounts.

I've seen and read some strange and unusual things on UHALL, but this is one of the most petty arguments I've seen on here.

Who cares if someone has a "free" account?

    Grow up.

In a world that has so few positive things in it these days, why CREATE a negative?

Would it be impossible to be HAPPY for someone else's good fortune?

It is beyond sad how jealous & petty people can be.

People are actually taking the time to cut & paste EA legal mumbo jumbo to try and make a point? Are you just frikkin kidding me?

A few people have the smarts and/or good fortune to have prepaid accounts and who wants to say something negative about that? For what reason?
It is quite obvious that these accounts were meant to be free long after the Seer was done with his/her duties so what is the issue?

Get a life. Just get a life.

You most likely were not even around then & you most definitely were not part of the Counselor program.
Nothing in all the words you foolishly copied from TOS states that the free time ended when the program ended.
I happen to know for a fact that the ACTUAL date on the Counselor account webpage is preset to many, many years after the Counselor program ended. Why would that be if they didnt intend to make the account free for a long time after the program ended?
I know this because I have a Counselor account that I have played and upgraded since day 1.

I am getting my facts from my own experience. You are getting yours from where?

Did you even read what you copied from TOS?
It contradicts your own petty & jealous arguments.

    LOL

I have been here for more than 13yrs.

You did a job and while you were doing your job EA/UO paid for your account.

You are no longer doing that job so EA/UO no longer needs to pay for your accounts. You got lucky for 10 yrs and now EA/UO has found/fixed a problem so start paying like everyone else.

I'm sorry, did you miss the part where I stated that I know for a fact that EA paid for and dated those accounts as far out as 20+ years?
Dated many, many years after the program was stopped.

So what were you saying about only getting paid while on the job?

I think people who expect to still be receiving entirely free access to the game over a decade after the volunteer program they were apart of ceased are a little greedy, frankly. Especially so since I'd guess most of the original players who volunteered their time probably aren't the ones actually using these accounts any more. Even if that weren't the case, I think they've now been compensated many times over for the time they gave. In my opinion they're lucky to have received free gameplay for such a lengthy period.

That said, ultimately it's up to EA. If they intended to give people free accounts for life, or at least many decades worth of game time, well good luck to them. I don't think it's warranted personally and find it a little absurd but it's their game at the end of the day and no-one elses opinions particularly matter on the subject. This is a matter purely between EA and ex-Seers and/or their accounts.

I too still have my original counselor account, its been prema sealed so no one can use it per my request to CS.
This was to pre-empt any who if ever tried to hack in from getting in to it for UO and my safty.

It is in my list to link, the account I had "free for life " was reverted back to pay as you go because EA was yanking all they could after the law suit and threatening if I didnt they would bill me not only for the years I counceled on the counselor account but the free account as well and I took the pay for it option rather then be charged over 500$ for my own service to the game. *I didnt sue them...*

My hours I offered in service to keep the Que down to 0 and my game experience that was used, if id have been paid a set fee per hour would have well covered the 20 years they expected UO to not top out at. So for you who say ok you earned your monthy fee for the time you worked only is in deep error. I was on no less then 2 hours a day, up to 12 hours in irc if a GM needed assistance and that was 7 days a week. Even at minimum wage I dare you to tell me where the bill for the full 20 years is not covered??

Seers earned their single account free for life. I am very sad to see those of you who were in game back then to refute them their due.

There are many past instances of efforts from Dev to preserve legacy items in game. Seer accounts should be treated the same way. It is a matter of consistency.

I do not see the point for people to argue over this one way or another. Seer account holders should have the same rights to voice their concern with regard to issue caused by account migration.

Does allowing seer accounts to continue really matter to regular account players?

BTW, I do not own a seer account.

Personally I'm not disputing the good work that both Counsellors and Seers put into Ultima Online at the time to improve everyone's experience. However, I have no truck whatsoever with this "sense of entitlement" attitude.

The entire volunteer program was just that: voluntary. People chose to partake in them purely on that basis. Most did so because it was fun for them and they'd have been playing anyway if they weren't volunteering. They enjoyed the prestige and recognition the community gave to them as well as having additional powers and authority in-game. If they weren't happy, they could quit at any time. I believe the minimum time they requested was 6 hours a week also, split into three 2 hour sessions. If you were doing more than this, again, it was because you were choosing to. They chose to become volunteers, they chose the hours they put in and they chose to remain in the program.

So yeah, I'm not attempting to "refute anyone their due." I personally just think that people who have been playing on free accounts up to this point have been very fortunate so long after the volunteer program ended, and personally think there's absolutely no basis for the reinstatement of their free accounts.

What part of the words "free for life" dont you get??
Free = just that - no cost Life= Till they shut down the game , turn out the lights.
They offered it to both Counselors and Seers alike as a tolken of their hard work for all the players of UO.
We didnt demand it, nor ask for it. it was given freely from UO.

Look I pay my fair due to UO, if my 53 accounts are not good enough.... forget it.

Your just upset that you didnt get it and a few of us still live and play uo. I finally figured out why the rub from the negative... its pure jelousy. You might not see it but your green with it!

For your info, I own 4 of the SRC and C free accounts that got pulled the same time mine did. All got the pay monthly or get billed. My friends quit shortly after EA pulled that... for a total of 11 accounts that got dumped on my lap... I dont want my free account back but my nephew should'nt have to have his pulled. Just because a new account management went in. I bet they didnt remember some would still be out there active.

Erm, I already conceded in my first post that if EA did, in fact, offer accounts that were "free for life" (I do not believe they used that terminology anyway and they later did go on to retract it from counsellors as you know. I've only seen you use this term.) then that's their decision to make. I'm merely stating that I personally think it's ridiculous that people were still playing for free a decade after the program ended and still expect to be, that's all.

I personally didn't have a Seer account, no. If I did, however, I'd still be of the same opinion. I've personally volunteered in many places in the past and I certainly wouldn't be still expecting to receive benefits from stuff I was doing a decade ago. I just can't really get over the fact that there are people out there who genuinely do feel as though they should still be receiving benefits from a voluntary program they were involved in this long ago. It's something I just can't comprehend as, fundamentally, it's just ridiculous.

Again though, this is a matter between you and EA and only they can give you the definitive answer as to whether they'll reinstate it. What I or others think it largely irrelevant. I sure know what I'd be telling you if I were the one making that decision though. =)

oki, I'm going to take a flyer here and hazard a guess that the 'free for life' accounts depended on a special 'code' having been entered. Since codes can not be applied currently I'm going to suggest that this discussion be suspended until such time as the gametime code problem is fixed.

At that point in time I suggest that all holders of Seer accounts contact EA and ascertain whether the codes will be re-applied or not.

I think this topic falls into the kind of category as Stratics classes moderator decisions, ie not for public discussion, consequently I am locking this thread.
