Just gave it a crack with 6 people and we got spanked.

Thanks devs. This is a nice challenge. Exodus beats you with AI, not just a gazzilion hit points.

At least with a focus circle they can't stop you from joining in. A party invite? Really. The history of the greed of tramnalites at least with getting a chance for a champ PS ya have a "fighting chance". Not like can multi client ones own party to go fight Exodus.

What the hell is the deal with the lava area on way into the dungeon. Pack tamer with one slotters gets to the other side with a pack of ghost. This some attempt to stop packy from being taken in for holding farmed keys? Sweet run to get a rez if you die in the Exodus dungeon. Should of cursed the keys to make getting back to your corpse double fun. Teaches me not to rez click members down there.

Crafter making the keys. Taint? Do you guys have a clue on how hard it is to get one let alone 5? Maybe some of the Abyss blobs would of been a better choice. Like the one that has no use that is red. How about 5 Irk brains? Try that out. Remember this is not completing a quest but working toward a CHANCE for scroll drop.

Group effort is like fighting the AW at the mountain top in Ilsh. Anyone can join in and die to a paragon spawn equally. Party invite for this is reduced to being in a click. Guess will have to wait till prices come down to earth just before it becomes like the current attempts to form random group to do DOOM or a peerless.

After tonight just feel punnished for not going to EM events for handouts.

    I don´t understand the complaints ...

Went down there last night, it was a pretty nice and funny fight. Have had much harder fights. Point is: You need some people to fight him. And that´s a good point, because it stimulates cooperation. And if there is one thing, most players like, is being in a company with others. Remember: It´s MMORPG :)

So in the end, getting the keys (the rite!) was a much harder business than killing him. We were about 15 people, it was fun, many of us got rewards, there was activity in ilsh again - i am 100% happy with the result of this new encounter...

So many people complained about the original Exodus event and the Cure. And so many people doubted the Devs would hear and create something that gives us the opportunity to fight Exodus again and to get the rewards (even if they are only replicas).

So in a few weeks time when everyone has lost interest this will be un-do-able, theres no way you and a mate will get his done with just 2-3 of you.

Why do the Devs think its cool to put an item that everyone will need (+5 scroll) into an encounter thats just not do-able with a few people

Nonsense, Winker. Sorry... We are doing Harry-Runs with 8-20 people on quite frequently. I feel sorry for you that you dont have enough people to play with... You have a very negative perception of the world, I guess: There are places, people have lost interest in. But it isn´t "programmed" that this will take place for everything that is new...

And why should I try to do such things with 2-3 of us? We are doing weekly hunts with 7+ people... It is absolutely ok that there is a variety of encounters in UO: Some bosses are soloable, some are good for 2-3 people, others are good for larger groups. Where is the problem??? Too much pessimism. Always. Makes me sick!

    And this statement...

...is absolutely nonsense - for two reasons:

1: NOT EVERYONE needs it - why should I need it for PVM? You really think 5 statpoints are necessary to play the game the way I play it? Sorry, I have to laugh... It might be interesting for PVP, but to me, it makes no difference if I have 255 or 260 cap when I encounter Meli, Nav, Slasher, Medusa... Whatever. Your premises are wrong.

2: "just do-able with a few people"? Call me stupid, but aren´t we playing an MMORPG? Isn´t that the goal of such a game to to things TOGETHER WITH A FEW PEOPLE???

Oh my God... Somethimes I can only shake my head...

I would venture to guess that as people become more familiar with it, less people will become possible.

I have to admit, some of my characters still don't have 255 stat points, never mind 260.

I can get quite anal about character creation and stats and suit building, not just for PvP but for PvM also. I love to work out the best suit, stats and weapons for what ever it is that character is built for. I love working right down to the finest detail. It keeps me occupied for hours on end.

The key to fight him is working together. One very good melee fighter that stays with him and a few mages keep healing him can get you a very long way.
Working together is the key, not 20 individuals, then he will crush you over and over.

It is a matter of days before someone will post they soloed Exodus without the 1 hour video.

Yes Yes Yes. The game can be played without 120ing your skills. Fighting with nothing but GM made gear and an old undead slayer out of mana drain charges. Turn back the time machine when a Lich Lord was a fight. As pointed out this is now a tweeking of a character like it is some tuner car.

The gear that drops works great for this boss. The cap stat scroll should of been more an open house grind like Doom is. We're talking about something that is part of your character and not the robe or tally of the month. Hell want to breath life into something, make it a rare chance drop instead of the high end BOD rewards also.

MMO, lets see. All the true friends slowly got driven off. How many times can you repete the drama of a guild that thinks everything revolves around a small click. Gather up some nuggets and gear/train them and half quit and other half wants be PVP gods or summer break is over.

AS this stands. Exodus is another great set up for that tight group farming a drop for gold sales. There needs to be more drop methods. This not just some apron drop. Not like 120 PS that are of the caster range skills only drops at the Destard champ. Baracoon would get lonely if a 120 mage was only the static Ricktor drop. A one in 1000 chance for the scroll at the Hag , obsidian statue or explorer quest. There needs to be other ways to earn a cap stat scroll that was an event handout.

I've not seen him yet; the problem is that I believe, according to the information given so far here and at UOGuide that everyone has to have the 3 parts of the key, which for most people will be collected by a pretty boring grind of the Exodus dungeon for random drops. I did 3 hours yesterday, on and off, and got 1 of the robe, dagger and altar, but couldn't face much more of it for the final part. Unlike the other keys, these don't seem to drop easily at all, although it's entirely possible the information we have is wrong, and only 1 particular mob say has a very high chance to drop it, and killing the rest is a mistake. However, at present the experience from where I am is there is at least a timer of 6 days, but after that I'll have to do it all over again even to think about getting in; which commits me to grinding that last key, finding others with the 3 needed keys too, then all of us using it, and that actually now feels like a weight on my shoulders that I have to lift before the timer expires, rather than a fun adventure to be had in the future.

Huge alliances may be able to farm or craft keys regularly to carry enough players in, but you the individual are going to be reliant on the times they can play to get in and then have a realistic chance to beat Exodus. As often happens with the first draft of ideas, the devs seem to have forgotten UO survives because it's a sandbox, it's not an organised raid grinder like World of Warcraft. This could also be so, so easily solved by simply one set of keys giving permission for the whole party to enter like the other instances, as already happens. Maybe it already does? I'll let you know if I can get the last key in the next few days.

    However... Warpig ranting about;
"The history of the greed of tramnalites at least with getting a chance for a champ PS ya have a "fighting chance".
... is hilariously hypocritical, and cheered me up no end; hey, why can't they just declare their own PLP skillz (Player Loving Players SKILLZ I SAYZ) are the universal standard, and if you disagree you're just a scrub that can't Love, and this gives them the right to control this new scroll market for the next decade, and tell you to "Love Up or Get Out" eh?

The fact that most of us will actually be arguing that no, we'd sooner people could easily join in, yes even you, you lovely anti-social killers and even you should be able to more easily take part in the new content, would in any sane world show that maybe, just maybe the arguments were less self centred on one side than the other after all... but we all know it's not a sane world. But we can make it saner. Take the individual key requirements off then.

Totally agree here. I went there today with guild mate. After grinding away for about an hour I had nothing and he had a couple of robes. I just want to fight the boss not grind away to get there.

Have not had a chance to get in and check it out yet. Sounds like it will be great for the populated shards and a disaster for the lower populated or for the casual player who isn't on during peak hours.

Actually - it's probably the opposite... the larger groups - especially those that are disorganized will create the disaster... a smaller well coordinated group works very well.

Perhaps just bad RNG. I spent about 3 hours collecting keys and came away with 26 keys with 4 full sets. Averages of to one key per 7 minutes...

That is a load of crap.

Yesterday evening on Drachenfels (Smaller shard) a lot of people where in Exodus. Gathering keys, working together to kill the monsters. They used Ally and general chat to trade keys to get a full set.

Some players went to exodus on the first day but thats not required. You have 7 days to collect all keys 7 days for 4 keys!

I'm going to organize on Drachenfels often a event to fight against Exodus. Its for everyone on the shard, not just allies and guildies, next Saturday will be the first one. I'm not going to exodus before Saturday but i will collect the keys. And not just for me for everyone who don't have a chance to get all keys or has the time to get them during the week. Several other players on Drachenfels are helping me with that. But Hey, we are smart players who knows you can achieve more with working together then complaining about nothing on the boards.

Too many people who constantly complaining are nothing then spoiled kids who want everything just for them self and right away. They want things handed to them on a silver platter. They should start to play more single player games and not a MMO . But then again, its hard to complain to them self if they can't get something then. :p

Completely agree...with my own spreadsheets of Character Templates and Suit builds...When I heard anout that +5 stats scroll, the gears started clicking, tweaking suits in my mind...and I knew I had to have that scroll....

It's all about crafting the perfect character....

Now if I could only get the designers to put out a guaranteed wood enhancement tool, so I can craft a suit with 6 mods....

Wow. Way to imply that I am a stupid spoiled kid who complains about nothing and wants everything handed to them. Nice Mod, nice.

That is not what I said. I did say that I have not been able to log into game and check it out yet. So my opinion should mean little since it has no experience of this specific thing to back it up. If it can be done with few then great! Awesome even. Not all the smaller shards have people like you organizing things though and sometimes finding even 2 people can be hard if you play off hours. But that is the price we pay for choosing to stay on a small shard and play a game we love even if it is an mmo. Not all players are super elite players either. Or even great for that matter so sometimes things that are "possible" with 2-4 take more with regular undergeared nonelite players. Honestly only time will tell. When Cora started there were groups going both small and large. Now, noone. Hopefully this will be different but as I said...only time will tell.

I think Frarc responded to the entire thread with his post... obviously some of the things he discussed were not mentioned in your post but were in several others. Sadly, your original impression of the Exodus Encounter was from some of the posts higher up in this thread - and there are many assumptions there that are not true. I hope you are able to get together with some friends to try it - it is fun with good rewards.

I have every intention of doing this with 2 other friends as that is all that seems to be left of my old guild. Nothing will stop us even if it means that we fail the first 5 times till perfection occurs. Lady Bleez I would advise you to do the same. I feel blessed that I play mostly on a smaller shard and will not have to compete with the likes of ATL or Pac to have my turn nor will I have to deal with hordes of idiots screwing it up once we have figured it out.

This will be a breeze in a few weeks and only those that wish to fail will have issues with it.

I have to say I am enjoying the idea of a 1 week long life time for the keys. Yesterday I hunted some, crafted some others and I will be able to do it every night until I have enough to do a big call to arms this weekend at Legends.
I hope this change is brought to the other peerless keys, so one can prepare during the week and call for a big hunt during the weekend. Much fun would be had that way.

There would be nothing wrong with taking the key timer and passing it to other "champs". I think the reason that people don't chain certain quests is the time/grind. I'd love to get the keys for 10 Mel's or proxy's etc but the timer kills the option of doing this for a group hunt type event.

I have not been down to Exodus yet, but like others have said... Once the tactics are vetted I will not be surprised to see this soloed by one person running two or three clients. Same as Andros and Cora is done now.

Yea I can confirm hes doable with only 3 poeple ( bard priority tho ) then you just sit there , easier than slasher in my opinion .... poeple will stop doing Exodus once they gathered their pixels , and scroll will sell out for 5m soon , then its gonna be useless area to go pretty soon

Did him with 5 people 10 min ago. No problem at all. Right, Slasher is harder!

I mean do Devs lack ideas for artifacts or whatever, all they could end up with is 4 artifact which 2 of them are replicas thats it ???? A big encounter and revamp all for 4 artifacts which half of them are useless ?? Come on I even myself brought 2 ideas for artifacts which I can see devs closed eyes on... Moiety and Frostbite artys...

Exodus is very nice looking , I like his specials attacks . Gathering keys is a bit boring ok but the fight against Exodus is not bad. If only poeple would have a reason to fight him in lets say 1
month , once everyone will have their 5 stats scrolls, what will Exodus be good for ?

Maybe make him drop in his corpse 1 random peerless special drop (dreadhorn mane, deseased bark, etc)

We did it last night with a group of 8... 2 got scrolls - one got the band-aid enhancer and one got the alchemy enhancer. I imagine the drop rate will slowly decrease over time as usual.

I don't think so - that's one reason the Sampires were having a difficult time... that and the death vortex's all over the floor.

Maybe you shouldn't quote someone who is simply stating an opinion based on news from this encounter + knowledge of previous encounters then. Or you could just continue being negative about people's opinions / suggestions and watch this game get cancelled. WHICH WAS HER WHOLE POINT THAT THERE'S ALREADY NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE ONLINE

It's especially amusing to see someone aggressively lecture people about not understanding what an MMO is, who then applies absolutely no long term analysis, or even shows any awareness of wider player psychology, especially within the very game being played, which is going to define how easy or accessible content is over time; thus failing to treat other people with any real independent identity at all, except in that they make him feel good right now. And yes, there's plenty of people helping each other out on Drachenfels I'm sure; There usually is for any event within the first 24 hours. A wise man however would then calculate whether the event is going to be able to be hosted when people turn against it, either through getting enough scrolls for themselves, or tastes and fashion change and the behaviour of groups dictates away from it... In an MMO with a huge player base, you'd then apply mitigating values to the odds of individual keys dropping as others will turn up on the market, assuming people don't keep duplicates in-house... and then subtract from that the practical limitations of key with 6 days of in game existence... You know, actually think about wider issues, and understand that when the initial thrill wears off, people who play unsociable hours or don't treat Ultima Online like WoW and it's scheduled raids, are simply not going to have access to an entire party all with timed keys ready when they are able to go fight the instance.

Which is going to be the majority of players of Ultima Online, because that's how Ultima Online has always been designed to play and how most people experience it. Pirate hunting for Ork Ship Parts (especially under the old saltpetre regime). Fishing quests and fish sharing. Scelestis books for Queen Zhah... Honestly, it takes a staggering level of self obsession to be completely unaware of the objective reality of what happened to all the large grinding quests with assumed reward swapping in Ultima Online recently, just because you're having fun right now. How many guilds host Peerless hunts for the public to go and fight on? And those only need one person to have the keys. To think Exodus will remain even as popular as those, when the main reward is a scroll and you can't get people to go to Felucca for scrolls which doesn't need keys, or even to schedule an evening when you might have them and they haven't all expired yet is just laughable...

MAKE IT SO ONLY ONE PERSON NEEDS THE KEYS LIKE EVERY OTHER PEERLESS.
You'll still need a party, but now it's something one person can put the time in and give an adventure to the community, rather than dividing them and frustrating them and committing them to the souless grind that is MMO "content" elsewhere and they stay here to escape.
