Hi i have one archer bushido character and i wanna ask about archery some questions.

    this is my archery template:

    100 Bushido
    110 Resisting Spells
    110 Tactics
    110 Healing

    Hello.

I’m assuming that your ABC is for PvM so I’ll tailor my answers accordingly.

First if you can afford it you want to increase your Bushido & Archery to 120, so that you’re more likely to hit (archery) and score more critical hits when using the lightning strike ability (bushido). To make room for this drop your resist down by 10 (GM is fine for PvM) and healing by 5*.

With regards to your question then the answer is both bow types are useful some of the time, if you imbue them. As a standalone weapon neither type come with mana leech or SSI, which are essential for an ABC. With imbuing you can create an Elven longbow or shortbow and then imbue the additional properties. Similarly imbuing lets you tailor the weapons to a specific task.

For example the Eleven Composite Slayer Longbow is a sure way of getting a slayer type weapon. These are most useful when fighting the Dark Father and other monsters prone to slayers. Add on SSI & mana leech and it should be pretty effective. Similarly the lightweight shortbow is balanced, which makes it ideal for PvP (enabling you to chug pots) and with the lightning arrow ability ideal for Champ Spawns. Therefore I’d carry this bow when in Fel. Add on mana leech, SSI & perhaps a hit spell and it should be pretty effective.

The key rule as an ABC is that you can’t limit yourself to a single bow type. You want to carry as many weapons as reasonably possible to cover any given situation that you’re likely to encounter. Consequently I typically carry 4-6 bows & crossbows even when I know I’m hunting a specific creature or in a specific dungeon. Personally I prefer crossbows and heavy crossbows as they provide more leeches when they go off, however I can see the benefit of the other weapons too.

Again with imbuing you should be easily able to make some imbued jewels that’ll help out. For PvM you’ll want the following: Hit Chance Increase (HCI), Dex, Lower Mana Cost (LMC). Possibly Damage Increase (DI) depending on how much you have elsewhere. Then you could add some: (1) Defence Chance Increase (DCI) if you’re going Fel, or (2) add some Str as yours is a little low** or (3) add Chiv +skill so you can more reliably cast stuff.

    Hope that helps.

*Alternatively rather than dropping skills add +skill to your jewels if you’re getting them imbued.
** You might want to consider changing your race to Elf. That'll let you redistribute some Int into Str thereby increasing your hit points and survivability.

  3. You have several questions here so I'll start with bows and work from there.

As an ABC archer in PvM, your primary concern will be mana, it's use, and it's regeneration. For that reason I'd suggest staying away from the elven comp and magical short because they aren't very hard hitting bows, which is what you're needing. Any bow you use must have mana leech, so when you use the much harder hitting crossbow and heavy crossbow, you'll be scoring hits up in the 300 range, which will yield tons of mana returned to you via the leeching. The magical short does have it's benefits in the lower levels of champ spawns, but overall, isn't a very effective wep. I'd say you'd want to stick with the slower, harder hitters, for most of your PvM.

Jewels you'll want dex for certain, as you want to get to max dex for both bandage timer (which hits 4 sec heals at 140) and swing speed. Other than that, Int to increase your mana pool, HCI for those times you want to use specials or are out of mana, DI, and LMC.

Armor is simple. Mana regen, stam inc, and mana inc. I suggest you start with a Rune Beetle Carapace, and possibly Stormgrip, and work from there. Mace & Shield glasses are also a very nice piece for any ABC archer.
