Are there plans to make throwing a decent skill?

    Are there? I hear Gargs are getting fixed a bit, same with better Mysticism and Focus alignment.

    What about throwing?

    Is it still going to be the crappiest DPS skill EVAH?

    p.s. who in their right mind thought it would be cool to make this skill so 'other skill' dependant!??! Bush + Parry + Swords to make it decent, or close to on par with other melee skills given its annoying distance issues? Wtf?

  2. It's been mentioned that they'll be looking into it, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it to happen anytime soon.

    Nerf! has a special foam Soul Glaive in developement.

    The adjustment to Mysticism should be in the next publish. I do believe that Nerf! project will probable be fixing Rising Colosus. & the Devs are going to be redoing the Gargoyle racial abilities.

    Since the Nerf! team(aka Wiki) already took care of Throwing in beta. We can only hope they replace the Foam Soul Glaives with wooden or metal ones in the future publishes.

    It segued into swing speed, but there's not an overwhelming sense among the dev team that throwing needs love.
    (I also edited out some of the general chatter, but nothing to change the context or meaning of what was said)
     
  5. Wow. That's disheartening AND scary that the Dev team is that out of touch with what's actually going on in game. Bela Legosi type scary....

    On possibility is that if the range is greater than archery, then it could allow you to remain out of range of certain AoE attacks.

    Also, that's only one dev, so it might not be indicative. Or he might have been misdirecting.
    But the sense I got was that there's no overall sense of it needing buffing.
    Next time he's in, if I remember/am there, I'll let him know y'all disagree. Not sure he can come here to discuss it, though.

    Very disheartening.
    Many I know are just taking up the skill cause it's new. Then questioning why it sucks, but chalk it up to them thinking it's cause they're not 120. When they hit 120 they will be VERY pissed.

    There wasn't anything in the patch notes about fixes to it. It's certainly still buggy (100% miss chances I've been hearing, throw/attach timer reset on every movement, exploitation of distances in PvP, etc.)

    Dev's certainly seem clueless... just as that IRC chat indicated as well.

    Honestly I don't think that chat represents to the developer what is wrong with throwing.

    Krim told him it was "about as good as archery", how is the developer "out of touch" when he gets feedback like that? He's being told it works, so what did you expect him to say?

    The thing to have done is to tell him everything which is wrong:

    Crappy racial ability
    Min and max throwing range suck
    Serious lack of good gargoyle usable artifacts
    No faction gargoyle artifacts
    Flying sucks - given the same dex/sta as a human/elf mage you can fly for a lot less time due to sta loss than you can ride a mount for before it is 'exhausted'.
    Etc.

    Then he might have either given reasons for the way things are, or say when it might be looked at...

    The point I was making was that under perfect circumstances (range etc) throwing is equivalent to archery. As in, to say that you have to work much harder to be as good as archery.
    I wasn't exactly grilling him over it, though.

    Y'all should come in IRC and ambush him if he comes in.

    yeah Logrus is a super guy. I won't say he deflects sometimes, I will say he is mindful of where you are trying to take him in a conversation. With that being said I am appreciative of the time he spends in the channel and it's the little things like that, that make me keep my subscription active.
