I've been doing quite a lot of farming and I might be able to buy an Armor of Fortune.

I will use it with my Peace Tamer so he can continue to have a LRC suit along with the Luck boost.

It seems a great artifact to own and use, but it's quite expensive for me and I was wondering if it's really that handy or not really...maybe Luck was back when I left and not so important these days? I've been away 10 years so...

    I play in Europa :)

I prefer to use a crafted tunic with 190 luck myself as you can get a lot higher resists then the AOF. Even room for 20lrc and even some lmc or MR.

Imbuing has changed the game a lot over the past few years. It's made uber suits attainable instead of aspirational. Wonder if you could buy a great imbued suit with the appropriate lrc, lmc, fc/fcr, etc., for the cost of that AOF. :)

AoF--- it's still good in the right suit. But, most people will just go with reforged/imbued/enhanced armor.

Well from that perspective I guess maybe it's best to save the money and get a full suit with high luck and LRC at least.

So one of these suits costs what, about 7-8 mill?

The main cost will be the runic kits (horned if leather) then the cost of the forged tool of artifacts to enhance each part with spined to hit 190 luck.

So one of these suits goes to about 6x190 = 1140 Luck?

these suits are made from scratch or do people collect loot that already brings some properties and then uses it to imbue the Luck in?

need to reforge to get 150 luck, then the enhance (4mil per charge about) to get 190. full suit can get pricey. aof can fit in nicely sometimes to work out your lrc, but statwise reforge/enhance is most bang for your buck with only 10 luck sacrifice

cheapo luck suit you can make imbued with 100 luck max per piece. or could imbue luck, then enhance with no tool (will break most of them) to get 140 luck. might be worth it if you are on a budget, especially if you dont pof piece up all the way.

I forgot to say before. I'd go for a mempo of fortune over the AOF in a luck suit

The Top Top Luck Suits, with All 70's resist, 100% LRC, DCI, LMC and 2260 Luck, goes for over 300M...
Sounds expensive but it takes sometimes over 8 Hours to make and Over 250M Cost Materials, Arties, Metal Tool, Runics Kit, to get all perfect and balanced....
I make them all the time :)

    Hi mate,

I'm in the process of making a more up to date luck suit. I have two ways to imbue it. Which would you say is the best way to go about this and also what could I sell either of them for?

    Option 1: 87, 72, 73, 70, 76 resists, 40LMC (10 from totem of the void), 7 MR, 100 LRC, 10 DCI, 2/6 casting, 2250 luck (with weapon and shield)

    Option 2: 87, 58, 50, 53, 74 resists, 40LMC (10 from totem of the void), 18 MR, 100 LRC, 10 DCI, 2/6 casting, 2250 luck (with weapon and shield)

Not really. You can make a piece that is generally as good or better, all things considered.

there are 2 days to skin this cat
    1) you could build a top shelf suit full of arties and using forged metal and runics and powder and you can get yourself a 2260 suit with 100LRC/40LMC and MR and such.
but like its said above your gonna be intested into that suit for 300mill.
and thats not a bad thing, i have 2 of them and i love them.

but there is another option, and its what i run on all my other tamers.
    2) the low cost suit.
while its not breaking records with high end luck its costs next to nothing to make and it gives you the luck boost your after without breaking the bank.
make a normal leather suit and imbue it up to 90 luck on each piece.
then enhance each piece with spined until you get one that takes.
usually your gonna have to do this 5-6 times to get one that lives.
now you will have a base suit with 130 luck per piece.
you can now imbue more stuff onto that suit, so LRC, LMC, MR and resists.
next imbue up a ring and watch set.
so 1/2 on each with 100 luck and you can add some taming if ya need it or some more LMC to lighten the load on the suit if you dont need the taming.
now depending on what you have you can add a luck robe to it.
either the 80 luck one which can be found everywhere or gotten with some farming or if you already have a con garb then your up to 200 luck on it.
if you have the luck sandals good, if not no biggie.
add a talisman you want, totem or taming.
i dont powder up this suit because it dosnt cost anything to make it since your only going to 90% in all the stuff so it can be replaced easy but ultimately your a peace tamer, your gonna be behind a dragon so you shouldn't be taking any damage anyways.

    6x130 for suit = 780
    200 ring and watch = 980
    robe 80 = 1060

now your out and playing you can start to 'upsize' the suit.
get the luck statue, now your buffing yourself up.
if you farm a lot you can get yourself the luck ring and watch from the turn in.
you can farm blackthorn and get a con garb.
you can bank gold and get some sandals and start shopping for one of the luck neck pieces and such.

while this is going on you can learn about reforging and start to make some better stuff with that which will get your 130x6 suit up to possibly 190x6 over time.

total investment, nothing but play time.

    thats just what i do.
give me the luck bump for better loot yet dosnt break my bank.

Generally in agreement with most of what's already been said however I think the AoF mainly depends on what your plans are for your gaming. If your just doing PvM then I like it on a mage temp. Most of the time your going to be attacking at a distance so the luck boost can be worth the loss of a few mods. With imbuing you can make up the resists on other pieces.

Most mages are using SDI spellbooks or slayer spellbooks so DCI is pretty much a non issue since your not using a spellchannel -mage wep to get any meaningful DCI. Also consider the fact so many mages are using shields for added mods (Tongue of Beast, Hephaestus, Imbued wooden shields, etc,..)

Taylor - I just made a pretty sweet suit using AoF. Its for a hi-bred temp 4x120 mage necro spellweaver. Around 800 skill points on this guy. Entire suit is arties with 2 pieces crafted. I'm just waiting for a gorget which Briar Rose :bowdown:was SO KIND enough to snag on Europa and is bringing back to ATL for me. (Favors : Briar Rose +3, yea its a 3 pointer from outside the line :) ) I made this guy soon as spellweaving came out so I've been playing the temp for a long time but this suit is an awesome upgrade. It isn't a luck suit but there was no other way to hit the 100%Lrc. IMHO its WELL worth the AoF for all the skills and versatility of this char. Its mainly a spawning char/suit not for getting luck drops. Even in PvP, which I quit doing in this game over 2 yrs ago, he's one of the best support classes I've seen (winding, buffs up then wraith form running into a pack of foes to wither, throwing fields, 5 pixies to disrupt casters and mess up dexers with healing, ressing, corpse skin/evil omens, revenants to reveal, etc,...) Char is a blast to play even with his +45 macros .

Yes. For some it is reaching the max Luck no matter the reduction of other parts of the suit. Really how much resist do you need when your nose is in a GD's bottom?

If you really enjoy the game and are not spoiled by the have to have it all now mentality. Hunt Wrong dungeon and hope for lucky luck drop of gear as loot. Then support UO with an origin purchase of the no fail enhancing tool for bumping the luck. (We would like to believe that money stays with UO) Don't be turned off by cursed, brittle and/or cannot be repaired gear. The luck jewels are still part of the turn in points. Nice luck robe slot item can be earned in Blackthorn's castle basement. Jester's Cap still awaits in the Vesper museum.

Thanks for the Link the info there seems great, thanks!

Well I don't need max Luck, I'm just trying to gat as much as I can step by step.

I guess for now I'll have to train some Imbuing in my crafter as I can't do any of that Luck Imbueing by myself and paying for my self is just too expensive right now.

The advices on good hunting spots for Luck are really nice as well, I havent tried Blackthorn's Dungeon yet.

Wow, I am impressed, I have a hard time remembering 6 or 7 macros and often mess them up....
Infact, I play the Classic Client with UOassist and I always forget what is my keys combination for arm, arm alternate and 2nd arm alternate (I have INS. Shift+INS and CTRL+INS but in the heat of a battle I screw them more often than get them right....). I could never remember those many macros....

I use the armour of fortune, the shoes, the robe, the mempo , the luck jewel set, and the rest are as high as I can afford. Since it is a tamer and the pet takes the damage, it was an easy choice. I run with only 65% LRC and a bag of reagents. But I don't do extreme risk situations. My Total luck is 1928 (without statue)

In my judgement this is the best statement of the current situation. And, really, not just for the Armor of Fortune but for many artifacts.

We are quite blessed in that there's really little, if anything, that's actually essential (as in you can't make ____ template or suit work without _____ item), and there's many paths to most destinations. We don't appreciate it, but it's true.

    Yes!!

    Look at the Guide!!

    Maximum Luck
There is frequently much debate and mathematical figuring going on within the community about what the maximum attainable Luck is for a single character. This debate is usually reignited every time a new item is introduced into the game that has a high amount of Luck on it, and results in several different answers, depending on whether or not you include event items, Luck granted by the 10th Anniversary Sculpture, samurai Perfection or crafting bonuses like Runic Re-Forging, Forged Metal Of Artifacts, etc.

Just counting items that currently spawn in-game or are relatively easy to craft, the current maximum Luck that a single character can achieve is as follows:

    • Total: 2260 Luck

If you then add in the Luck bonus from the 10th Anniversary Sculpture, which is a base 200 Luck plus 50 Luck for each year of account age, thus resulting in a maximum attainable amount of 950 Luck (on a 15-year-old account), the total becomes:

    • Total: 2260 + 950 = 3210 Luck

If you then add in the maximum Luck bonus obtainable from the Sphynx, the total becomes:

    • Total: 3210 + 80 = 3290 Luck

Finally, if you possess the Bushido skill, Honor your intended target, and then achieve Perfection, you will be granted a 1000 Luck bonus. Adding this to what we already have, the total becomes:

    • Total: 3290 + 1000 = 4290 Luck

If you replace the Conjurer's Garb with the now lost Exceptional Robe Crafted by Relvinian the total becomes:

    • Total: 4290 - 140 + 250 = 4400 Luck

Logically, however, no matter how high the Maximum Luck number grows over time as new and better items and abilities are introduced into the game, the highest Luck that will ever be useful will be the amount of Luck required to have a 100% chance of more and better loot. By the Luck equation in the last section, we can easily determine this number:

Or, rounding up because Luck exists only in integer amounts, 3982 Luck.

Man, I remember when getting an AOF from the Gauntlet was so exciting...funny how no one suggests trolling the Gauntlet, getting the AOF for free ;) but I imagine they don't cost a whole lot now, either.

Luck sculpture really helps out on the economy suits because an hour of hunting is usually about as much as I want to do. I think anything 1,500-2,500 range is decent enough for bumps.

Don`t be fooled into thinking you actually need a perfectly balanced 100+ mill suit. IF your more pvm than pvp(peace tamer I assume you are)..... you don`t need to waste your gold on such things. Get the AoF or just farm Doom for a while till it drops, than opt for the Mempo and sum luck sandals and go from there. Its pretty easy to build a decent suit with high luck/lrc/lmc and whatever else ya want without spending an idiotic amount of gold.

Don`t fall for the elitist BS.

What hasn't been stated yet is how Luck is basically broken and it was, don't know if it still is, that 1100 - 1200 luck gave the best results anything higher actually was giving lower results :) So yeah it is nice to say I have a max luck suit ( which I do) but it is U S E L E S S :-(

It really kills me how many people keep misquoting Draconi.

Luck worked then and it works now. There might have been one part of the process that might not have been working, but it was never worked out.
