So what is the big deal with the new dyes? How do they differ from the dye tubs and Tukuno dyes?
I'm sure someone can provide more detail, but to start:
The new dyes can dye a wider range of stuff than the dye tube - including metal armor. They also have a wider (and different) array of colors than the Tokuno dyes.
Here is the FAQ on them. You need silver serpent venom (harvest from silver serpents), wine (from npc) clippers (tinkering), empty bottles, plants set to decorative mode. They are made from pigments harvested from plants ...actually clipping consumes the whole plant....one plant equals 5 use bottle of dye if used without mixing or pigments can be combined with other pigments to make other colors then mixed with fixative yielding a 5 use bottle of dye. Need more? grow some more. They stain a wide variety of items.
I did some testing and here are some results for what I tried
You cannot dye: a fishing net, a veteran robe, a potion keg, BOD book, soulstone, gift box
You can dye: metal and leather armor, metal weapons, bows, the white chest from an ancient sos, wooden chests, runebook, spellbook, leather pouches and packs.
Feel free to add info
You can dye cloth garments and many artefact garments but not thread, yarn, bolts, cloth, hides or cut leather.
You can also dye some addons, as long as they were made with colored wood/metals. On the homes and castles forum there is SS of a nice pink flour mill. And also the SA carpets I have seen done.
