Beware of Lost Billing Information

    Accounts Management loses billing information on accounts that are set up to AUTOMATICALLY-PAY via a valid credit card.

    Two more of my long standing accounts have lost their billing information again and it's all due to the fact that the new Account Management System does NOT honor the subscription information which implies it will automatically deduct AUTOMATIC PAYMENTS VIA THE CREDIT CARD. It seems they mean to do this only ONCE. Why can't they say so?

    They leave it UP TO YOU TO CHECK YOUR ACCOUNTS ALL THE TIME. MAKE SURE THE PAYMENT INFORMATION YOU SUPPLIED IS STILL THERE WHERE IT SHOULD BE. At least check to see when it is due and keep a record and check your account before payment comes due. If the informatiion is missing then subscribe again. You will not receive any warning before they close an account that has no billing information when the account payment is due.

    • This is what you see in ACCOUNT' MANAGEMENT just before an account is closed - without warning:

    Look: It says my Account is active - BUT the payment is due Sept 4th, 2012 and the account now has NO BILLING INFORMATION, just N/A.

    ACTION TAKEN: I emptied two houses, demolished them, and stripped all characters of their personal belongings from packs and banks (also on all shards if any).
    RESULT: no losses except for the payments to Account Management.:banana:

    I've never had an issue with it, after the first couple days - and even back then, they ADDED more time to my account than I paid for, for some reason, without me complaining (I DID, however, complain that their action without asking made it to where my 3 subscriptions all fell within 20 days for 3 6-month charges, when I deliberately had them spaced 1 month apart, to fall in the 6 months with the lowest utility bills).

    I do think, though, that I may have spotted an issue that might be the cause. If the system is interpreting your DD/MM/YY format as being MM/DD/YY (the US standard), it could be going nuts trying to figure out how to charge for "Negative Time Subscribed", and losing your info as a result. In which case, someone in the programming needs Gibbs-slapped.

    Thank you Basara!! You have found something there with the MM/DD/YY Good Work! This is something everyone should coinsider too when checking their accounts.
    I use the calendar on my computer which reads: DAY/MONTH/YEAR.
    I don't think Account Management tells you anything about using MM/DD/YY. <<another thing to check . *groan*

    *pulls more hair out* *more work* .. will I ever get to play the game again?

    SINCE POSTING THE ABOVE and In the Account Migration Thread above of Petra's, ALL THE INFORMATION HAS BEEN RENEWED ON ALL MY ACCOUNTS which previously had NO BILLING INFORMATION. Either someone in Stratics is working overtime tonight or Account Management is listening and/or reading these forums. Problem is they have already collected another month's auto payment from me, and it isn't the 4th of September yet. To late to cancel the accounts as intended.

    If anyone did anything extra ordinary to fix this it wouldn't be anyone from Stratics, my educated guess would be Dropixel saw it and helped.

    My accounts dropped billing info the first time they re-subbed after the update, but since either Terry or I are using all 4 daily we spotted it right away and sorted in a couple of minues. We've had no problems since.

    Oh and don't foget... God forbid your card should expire and you get a new one with the same number. Because if you do you can't use that card to play you accounts. It won't let you update CC information.. won't let you give it a new date and won't let you put it in because that CC # is not unique to you..... WTF Kind of BS is that?!?!?!?

    Happened to a friend of mine and he couldn't even get Customer Service... so I had to call them to call him... and THEN all they had to do was update his CC.... BUT NOOOO they couldn't understand that and two of his homes went IDOC.

    Finally just said you know what... can't take all this stress anymore and he no longer plays now. Take that EA! Down another 8 paid accounts.

    This happen to me when my card expired. But if you pick the option of how many months you going to pay for, it takes you to the page where your card is; AT the top right hand corner there, a button, account managment- click it and it will allow you to edit you card information. if you need a screen shot I will post one. I belive you wil be able to find now.

    Not sure what went wrong there, but we've updated our CC. It expired in March, so I think that bug is probably fixed now. Easiest way around it if it doesn't work smoothly is to remove the card and then re-enter it.

    When I get to the page in Subscribe where I select pay by CC - TWO CREDIT CARD NUMBERS are LISTED.
    An OLD EXPIRED CC and the NEWER VALID CC.

    I cannot find a way to remove the old invalid credit card information or remove all credit card information so I can use a new limited- credit card for the Game only.

    Hmm- - all my closed accounts are getting a free month and all are activated. Incredible. The accounts I have been having trouble with that had no billing information, suddenly found their billing information .. as a result those accounts didn't get closed, were paid for another month, and I lost out :loser: on each being valid for the free month of September trial period. o_O

    I to had trouble, they closed my accounts a month before my cradit card ended and I was not able to use it. I had an other I used for than month and then switchet to my new one, when it become active.
    Think that was in feb as my credit card run out in march.
    I got a email telling, my subscribing was ending.

    So my advice is, if your credit card is running out, keep eyes on your account and evt have a backup credit card or gametime

    Thank you Petra Fyde. Your reply clarified everything.
    Gosh this new EA system is NOT user friendly. If it weren't for Stratics and the wealth of information supplied on these forums, I doubt if this old veteran of the UO-game would have survived this long after the account migration.

    I followed everything on the page you sent me to .. and yes - - had some difficulty, but finally, using an active account, I was able to edit and delete the invalid CC !! THANK YOU! Not sure if I have to do this for all accounts yet.
    (A bit confusing to see a whole row of accounts under "status" as CLOSED. That I am not going to think about right now)

    Again, Thank You as in another month I do have to renew the Credit Card info and it may mean a big change. Knowing how to manage that System will be a great help and less of a headache next month.

    The new system is NO WHERE NEAR user Friendly... it's the most obscure obnoxious thing ever produced...

    And I have 3 Credit Cards on there and 2 of them are no longer Valid .... I get ZERO option anywhere to remove them and NO WHERE to update them... I've tried using it in 3 different browsers to no avail. I get tired of calling customer service and very tired of having to redo my billing information or having it LOST mysteriously. And I know I'm not alone. You need the patience of a Saint for this BS and I don't have it.

    MalagAste, have you followed the link I posted in post #13? The 'manages accounts' button on the top right of the gump allows access to the page for editing and removing cards.

    Here's a short answer for those that have continious trouble with the new system.

    BUY GAMETIME CODES FROM ORIGIN. I don't understand why you people would keep fooling with this mess.

    Buy the code, copy the code it gives you at the site and apply it to your account. Takes 2min tops.

    SO AGAIN: It is as you said: " You need the patience of a Saint for this BS and I don't have it."
    BE RESTED and BE PREPARED TO BE PATIENT AGAIN.

    Fyde's post above yours sends you to a Stratic's website where a full detailed explanation with pictures is posted on HOW TO

    It took me a while to fully understand that you have to pretend to upgrade/subcribe again. That is explained.

    When you do get to chose which 1 month or 3 month or 6 month option .. accept one month ..and continue.
    Then they ask you how you want to pay .. and that's when you look for the NEW "manage accounts" button above the subscription window RH top.

    This has a slight change in wording which I MISSED TOTALLY: It's a "Manage Account" button - Not "Account Management" button. So click on it and you should get a subscription window showing all your cc'' which you now can edit and delete or keep.

    Anyhow, Read the information carefully and do exactly what it tells you to do. (I had to ENLARGE the VIEW in order to read it all even with my computer glasses on my face!)

    Again .. see Petra Fyde'S POST IS BELOW. Go to that website on Stratics *New*

    Try to fully understand all and - -
    AFTER you get to the point where you are updating your credit card information, AGAIN use the 'manage accounts' button which I think is found at the RH top of that window.

    THIS did not work for me on a closed account so I used an active account to try remove the invalid CCs.

    "closed account" so far. To change the billing information and to delete the invalid CCs, it

    only worked for me when i USED AN EXISTING ACTIVE ACCOUNT.

    I think we are stuck with a basic problem of changing the way we pay for our UO-Accounts after having had no problems using valid Credit Cards for far too many years which in my case is since 1997. So, now, I resort to posting in here - to get help and advice, and to learn what I have to do to change my ways.

    Ok, I'm not sure I'm ready to get into this discussion. But here goes. I've read the mess about account migration. I figured I'd let things settle down before attempting to link my accounts. As time went by and I saw no problems, I've just never done it. I've not created a master account nor even gone to the page. I hope I'm not jinxing myself, but my three accounts have had no problems, except for one CC was rejected in June 2012 for unknown reasons. But I was on vacation at the time and the account was up and active when I got back from vacation. I had received two emails, one saying account was deactivated due to the CC problem and one saying ooops, their bad, account was fine. My question is... am I completely living on the edge by continuing to not create a master account? I generally live by the maxim, don't fix it if it isn't broke, so I've not tinkered with my accounts on the account migration page. Look forward to hearing all responses from the uo experts here on stratics. Thanks.

    I'm far from being an expert. Pedra Fyle is the expert in here along with a few others. See the sticky posts above about Account Management and problems. READ ALL YOU CAN and ask tons of questions.

    A friend, UO Veteran of 15 years plus, did very much what you are doing - - left things be and didn't link her accounts expecting all would be okay IF left alone. She couldn't figure out how to link the accounts anyhow and it seemed better not to try at the time.

    Without any warning, all her accounts CLOSED. No Warnings. IDOCs were in effect so her very old museum and Castle fell, both full of valuable rare items collected since 1997. She lost everything. When she found out about it, it was too late to do anything. Everything was gone.

    Don't let this happen to you. Keep checking your accounts, read all you can, ask for help here - - especially if an account is suddenly closed without warning, and you can't log in.

    We did that with my husband's accounts, didn't link them till the card they were paid on expired. Every time I go into the accounts pages I do so with my heart in my mouth and the problems expressed on here ringing in my ears. Every time so far I've completed what I set out to do with a sigh of relief and absolutely no problems whatsoever. I do this by following the guides carefully.

    I was afraid I would hear this. It just seems so dang time consuming, and I barely have any time to actually play UO let alone mess with this. Still, I greatly appreciate the info. I am so sorry to hear about your friend's accounts. I believe you may have assisted helping me get a character started on Sonoma. Not positive, because I've had little time to even play my home shard.

    Let me just say this... I use my CC and I SHOULD be able to forget about my account payments until my CC nears expiratry... HOWEVER I have to buy stinking gametime codes and I have to remember that crap over and over and over again.... which account needs one when blah blah I don't want to have to use a spreadsheet to manage my accounts....

    I want to just have it like it was put in my CC info and forget it until it's time to renew.

    start with this one:
    How to Log Into the Account Management Page | Mythic Entertainment | Ultima Online

    put your email address in and do 'lost password', because none of us actually had an EA account password!
    Then start over and log in with the password they send you.
    your 'master mythic account' is your regular game account with _uo on the end - you can set a different password here, if you want to, but to start with it will be the same as the one you log in with.
    Once you're in there you can link your other accounts. Be sure to hit 'confirm' at the end, it looks like you've linked them before that, but the process hasn't been completed.

    Happened to me. No reason for it. Card was fine.

    What bothers me is that more than one historical building - either belonging to a less than active player, or, in the case of two on Baja, active accounts belonging to deployed troops - have collapsed since this whole fiasco.

    I might try this, except for the fact I worry that it will eat my gametime code, still charge me for my account, and wipe all billing so my account lapses, it takes me too long to get resolved, and my houde with all my stuff collapses.

    I have no billing info at all on my accounts. I just buy gametime, apply it and play. I've NEVER had an issue with buying gametime from the store. Since you're buying an item from origin if their code doesn't apply you can call to get a new one. That's actually what their "customer support" line CAN do. If that doesn't work you can dispute charges on your card. They would get in deep chiz if they charged for a one time item and not provide it. Plus you have 90 days to get it resolved before your house falls.

    It works the same way the monthly billing would work in the way you can see when your account will go down.

    The Auto Renew function is still borked, keeps claiming my CC is declined when it isn't even tried I don't think. I go in after i get the lil notice Acct Closed due to declined CC & use same one & it's reactivated. Gets a little annoying doing this every 3 & 6 mos on every acct because something is screwed up on EA's end. Never once had any renewal issues til the New Billing crap went in, now every renewal time nothing gets renewed I have to manually go in & click same CC #.

    I have had running battles with the account billing ever sense this fiasco of a system was started.
    I am sick to death of the constant drops.
    After long discussions with my son..... I have made up my mind to start to drop accounts and shutting down homes. I already dropped one keep and am getting ready to drop more. This will include a luna house. I figure if I drop enough it will make it much less of a headache. 8 to 12 should do for now...
    The old billing was a pain but I would like that pain in the tush more then this master screw up we got now.

    This is exactly what I been harping about.... and people say there is NOTHING wrong. And folk dream along in some fantasy world where the Account Management system is good or something and I'm told there is nothing wrong with it... and no one is having a problem anymore blah, blah, blah..... well I know better and I know it's costing us accounts and players all the time and it shouldn't be.

    This is why I said we need to have people writing this Kyle Cooper fellow I was talking about and letting him know what's going on... what the problems are etc... Go for it write him... tell him what you think and how you feel. It's easy... just email him at [email protected] .... Nice fellow maybe he can do something.
