Boura Tail shield . What a dang shame

    In the crafter forum we had our fingers crossed that boura tail shields would be imbuable, but no such luck.

    We had high hopes that this item with imbuing would of made it real useful to many template types pvm/pvp. I don't think adding some dci or spell channeling would be to much of an imbalance.

    I submitted a petition in the ask the devs forum. Hopefully the mods will approve the post.

    Would anyone have an issue with this item being imbuable?
     
  5. I wouldn't, this is about the only Artifact I wanted to Imbue, I think something may have gone wrong with the Imbuing changes in general though...

    The Bracelet of Health (unless I'm confused) has two properties and yet is over 600 intensity.
    Other items that would be say 470/450 (20% over the cap) still read as having 20% success chance.

    Well, this came up in another thread over on the Siege forum. The explaination was that since 2 HPR is 100% and it has 10 HPR plus another mod...

    You do the math.
     
  7. Do you think 1 hp per second is worth 500% intensity? Weighing it like that just keeps an unused item unused.

    Even if it's just a .5% chance at success at least let us drain all our resources trying to imbue this stuff.

    If we can't imbue it, I'd like a rare chance at a Bora Tail Shield drop with Spell Channeling for us mages. Something similar the chance to get a human version of the Fey Leggings versus the normal elves-only Fey Leggings from the UOML named monsters.

    Otherwise I fear the Bora Tail shield will be another non-used item in the game.

    Channeling is a good reason to have them blocked. If this shield effect goes off vs archer shot then thats just great. The shield needs to be left as a tool for dexers. If the distance damagers have an issue I hope a blocked spell can also give the para effect also.

    Well I am pro for spell channeling. Archers win by a repetitive ratio from a distance with a variety of special moves with the addition of a slew of item properties to curb the situation in their favor all the time.

    Mages however lack the killing power versus an archer in the same time frame. A mage usually needs to get the initial first attack. A 2 spell combo, followed by a 3rd and usually needs a 4th to finish off, but in most cases the target pings off. Each time a mage cast he/she is frozen in place, while archers can shoot and move at the same time with much more damage to boot.

    All said most mages now a days are put in a defensive mode unless they fight in groups.

    To get the full benefit of Parry one needs 80 dex, a heavy investment for any mage. Also the para effect most likely can be broken by a trap box which something most archers/dexers are quite skilled at these days. I see that a spell channeling boura tail shield would be an equalizer and make it so that mages are not just roving arrow butts.
     
  14. Mages aren't 1 vs 1 characters. They're for field fighting, and are the most powerful when used as such.

    i kinda think mages need one small change.. unlike archers when a mage is casting he is frozen, i think they need to make it not frozen but if you walk it stops the spell..

    i dont know how many times i been in the middle of casting and wanted to run but couldnt..

    I vote no! Archers and mages are as balance as i have ever seen in this game. And I'm playing both. having something that helps melee fighter a bit is a good thing. If mages lay their hands on this, then it throws off the balance a bit.

    Whoever said archers are balanced needs to take a walk through fel someday. Are they so balanced that EVERYONE is forced to play them and the only person who can "survive" them is a necro mage and disarm mage, the former being the only one who can actually kill them? I've been PvPing on a mage for 6 years now, I'm fairly good at what I do. Archers, (Who are being played by no namer PvPers) are beating me. So 6 years of PvP experience and a perfect suit < Archers. Balance.

    Ill agree with you Flutter...This guy is crazy...take away the balanced mod on bows and then there is some balance...archers can deal damage fast, at a distance and then when they get low run and heal on the run..chug pots..I mean poison used to be a good spell to use against archers..they had to disarm bow..not they can just chain chug cure pots...balanced is why most folks play archers now days...if they ever removed this mod from bows (I think they should and I have two archers that use balanced bows) I would be a happy man!

    I have to say...a good disarm necro ninja dexer can kill them as most archers are no skill and when they start to lose panic...so easy with deathstrikes and AIs...toss in the occasional shurikan..it gets fun....for me!!!!

    Ok so as of yet there is no viable balance issue with this shield on the Imbue wish list.
