I see the replicas of these are coming out. I was just curious did they mention or does anyone know if their going to fix the bracers so the fireball goes off while wearing a shield? It's bad enough the bracers have fireball which breaks the "ability" of doing a stun punch to your enemy. At least they could do is let people wear a shield and have the fireball go off. If anyone has any idea about this please post.

    Thanks!

The issue with the effect from the bracers going off breaking paralyze is something that is being addressed in the Pub 80 bug sprint. There are no plans to allow equipping a shield at this time.

Fix for the bracers would be to turn them into Lightning instead of fireball. As far as the shield goes what is the reason behind not allowing the hit spell to go off... Most people that play with wrestling have parry for their templates, and if your not using parry with wrestle its better off to drop wrestling all togeather and just use a -15 Mage Weapon.

Just was curious if their was really a big reason behind them not working with shields if its offering some unfair advantage or what it is specifically for this not to work?

I must be mistaken but are you serious that the fireball doesn't go off if you have a shield, the team knows this and thinks it's fine? Who on earth is going to run these without also having a parry mage temp? It can't be that reason these gloves were brought out was only to couple with holding a book, is it?

Maybe this is the "thief template" love so many people have been asking for.....

Isn't it called a "thug thief"?

    Just a thought.

    LOL!! "Thug Thief" love it...

That's another template thats been killed off for the most part thieves....

It just makes no sense to me hardly anyone plays a spell book wrestler because of spell books being able to be disarmed now I could see it if the spell books couldn't be disarmed maybe the bracers could be a lil useful but still, having a shield with those bracers does not make them close to being over powered. Even if the stun punch was fixed so the fireball proc didnt break it, its still not over powered... It's just silly that who ever designed them really thought a shield shouldnt be used.

Nevermind the Replica version having their stats cutt in half on top of it. Replica or Real still not an over powered item. I thought these were actually give people that like wrestling some enjoyment back.

I wish they just had a version without the fancy fireball but with the MR5 and the resists of the original.

Since they took away the ability to toggle specs/cast spells, a weapon skill isn't worth having on any spell-casters IMHO...

People are already used to fireball breaking para/nerve spells/specs it's nothing new, but it would (I guess) make the bracers a bit more useful.

But Honestly, I think the Shields stopping fireball procs is a bigger problem. (Parry mages seem to be pretty good right now (only because of throwers), taking away their defense for a 35/40%- hit-fireball isn't worth the trade)

I guess this would cause the bracers to proc when wielding a weapon though?
Sooo, double hit-spell for melee not a problem, but Triple hit-spell for Archers... or Throwers, That's a problem.

From what I understand the fireball only goes off when you punch something, so you can't double spell like that. Don't own any so I can't say it's fact.

Welp I guess we can mark this up to another pointless artifact. They can take their place right next to the Bone Crusher, or Dijin's ring.

Yeah the fireball doesn't stack with any weapons, nor do i want it to i just want to wear a dam shield and have the fireball go off. I dont even care about the fireball/stunn breakage... I just think they would really be used on a parry mage no point other wise like Farimir said another useless artifact.

    Pfft.
I've been wanting brass knuckles/spiked gloves/loaded fists or something for a while (14+ years) to give a little more damage, DOT or something to wrestle. These are at least a step in the right direction.

As far as the parry mage being "hit" by not being able to use them...I've also wanted some type of 'shield attack' that gives a knock back effect of a few tiles after a parry.
*You knock back your opponent and gain ground!!*

Well as far as knock back, they did add Reactive Paralize which is similiar ? hehe. Like you said its going in the right direction its just a few steps to complete it to make it useful!

So the fireball doesn't hit with a shield, does it hit if you have a spellbook up?

Yes you can wear a spell book with it but as i was saying i honestly dont know that many people that have wrestlers that use spell books because of they are disarmable, and most good spell books have fc/fcr or sdi etc... so soon as its kept disarmed your casting or damage goes to hell... Im not saying people dont use book but not the favorite choice.

and No when you wear a shield the fireball does not go off.

SO I just received the platemail legs replica off Exodus and are you kidding me really? You can imbue them ( thats what they said ok ) but you can only put 2% lower mana cost and they at maximum imbue weight !!! lol really I dont know what the devs thought on this one. DEVS MAKE IT 500 WEIGHT AND NOT 450 and maybe I'll be able to put more than 2 % lmc ! Even there they would be garbage at 500 weight...

Yea its really disappointing to receive such a garbage artifact, you know the 5 Stamina regen on them take almost all the weight (about 166 weight out of 450) and no one even need stamina regen on a piece, I would greatly prefer HP or mana regen, and also the 25 %DCI on them counts as a full 15% dci(110 weight) + the other 10% DCI( about 72 weight ) so the DCI itself on the piece take 182 weight , they could have at least make it so the 25% DCI count as 1 full mod ( 110 weight ) much like on ranged weapon where 25 DCI counts as 15 DCI in imbue weight ... welll !

There is already set armor in the game that only gets bonuses if the other parts are worn. Put a shield arty in the game that only fully works when worn with the new wrestler gear. Normal must have mage mods on the shield. And bonus when worn as a set 40% fireball with a parried blow. It is a DCI based fireball instead of HCI. Thief wrestler still in biz with hands free.

You have got to know that if they put in a shield like this it would not have spell channeling on it!

You could drop the stam regen to 1 which would free up a little room but ya it's a waste of a slot.

Personnaly I would have seen these alchemical bracers to do some kind of alchemical explosion much like the explosion potion but instantly cast an explosion back to the attacker instead of the fireball hit on them that no one will actually use, since they cant proc with a shield. 40% reactive explosion (35% for the replica) so it would have that % chance to send back an explosion (with same dmg as explosion pot? alchemy and enhance pot boost dmg?) But to make Reactive explosion proc, the character would need alchemy in his template. How is that Devs ?

What wrestler do you know that has a shield in hands? I know that is real world but damn? Problem may be that in order to ignore shield might also mean ignore weapon, and that would not work at all.

What mage do you know that runs around with a spellbook?

Most wrestle mages that I encounter in game do in fact wear a shield. Wrestling is essentially a one handed combat skill in game. To disallow a shield is the equivalent of making all sword, mace, throwing or fencing weapons two handed. You can not hit someone with wrestling if you hold a weapon.

The thing i did was lower SR 5 to SR 1 then i had enough room for LMC 8% and either 4 stamina or mana.
I then enhance them with verite not valorite (for the resist spread)

    1) I agree that shields breaking the hit fireball is silly. It eliminates half the templates.

    2) Wrestling with a spellbook is totally valid though. I run wrestling / poison with 45% Hci & honestly most dexxers aren't going to disarm just the spellbook if they wont hit 100% after that. If they do disarm spam removing my Sdi then cast non sdi dependant spells or abuse my wrestling 45% Hci disarms....

I agree that wrestle mages with spell books is viable. My reference to mages holding spellbooks was a little tongue in check to quickblade talking about RL wrestlers holding shield ...

Who makes a wrestler with no parry it makes no sense..you're wasting skill points on the wrestle you might as well use a -15 or -20 Mage wep you get the same effect and save points ..now wrestle parry make sense dude to the 35% chance parry without it being disarmable..

I would guess that the benefit to wrestle without parry would be the ability to disarm your opponent. If you can disarm them parry ends up kinda pointless. That frees up skill points to use for inscribe or poison and frees up stat points from dex. This is what I did with my wrestle Mage ... His 120 parry is on a stone and I like it fine.

FCR 3!!! thats the beauty of this item the hit fball be damned its just a little gravy, fcr 3 on another item slot opens up more possible outfit combinations! fcr 3 is way more usefull to all styles of play then hit fball and thats my thoughts.

It's a template setup to have a good chance vs ANY opponent. I'm also not a fan of having a skill that's 100% Defense (Parry) Though I guess the case could be made that Reactive Paralyze is offensive, but only if an opponent is trying to hit you. 45% Hci with a touch of SSI (5% Ranger Cloak) Makes for a nice Disarm / Stun mage coupled with GM poison I like it very much. Try fighting a Disarm Archer rocking a good splintering weapon in the Arena on a Mage weapon character lol... Don't get me wrong I can definately see the benefits of a parry mage, but a lot of that is the new MODS that are mostly available on just sheilds. I agree that a 35% block chance makes it way easier to get up a combo to dump a dexxer, but 100% chance to do it with them disarmed is even better. I'm honestly looking at Mage Weapon Scribe / Parry Reforge possibilites atm but it's mostly coming down to what Crazy legendary Arty's I can get ahold of heh.

TBH it's been pointless to have any weapon skill on any mage since Pub 46... it's still Almost completely pointless, the only exception is because of how good Poisoning is, without DP who would have a weapon skill? Parry/wrestle & on rare occasion a Thrower/mage? that's it.

Clockwork Leggings should have had the +5 Dex count towards imbuing weight and the +25 DCI & +5 stam regen should have been free mods. with resists lower (Legs = 15 total) than the AoF (AoF = 16 total), these legs are worse than leggings of bane which aren't used almost at all anymore... who cares if mages used these legs, every pvp mage is already 70+ dci anyway.

Even if nothing changed with the legs except the item weight increasing to 500, Animated Tinker Legs would still be superior to these.

Except for the fact that if you get Disarmed as a -Mage Wep user, you're an AI magnet. Ever see what happens to a -Mage Wep user when they get Disarmed by a Warrior with several Archers/Throwers around in a group fight? They get "Wtf!?" dropped by AIs the instant after they get Disarmed. You can Disarm the spellbook out of a Wrestle Mage's hands, but he still won't be any easier to hit, and he can Disarm you right back.

I'm not saying that I'm saying wrestle compared to -Mage gives a base defense..as melee and Mage wep have the same pros to defending I never mentioned being disarmed what I was saying is that your giving up damage with your weapon damage with hit spell for combos for disarm/para and not being disarmable which you may prefer I donot I was stating what I felt is better for a field damage type Mage not a defense parry survivability Mage if that's what u want parry/scribe/wrestle is the way to go for damage output your better off -Mage scribe/nox sorry for the misunderstanding

mage with these bracers fighting a dexer ... you need parry if you fail to disarm them. fireball against a dexer won't do anything.
mage with these bracers fighting a mage ... you don't need parry. fireball is useful when toe to toe, which doesn't happen often.
it's silly to think i need to disarm and arm a shield in the field in order for the fireball to go off.
seriously, the only time you are toe to toe is when you're fighting a dexer. fireball against a dexer isn't that big of a deal, why not allow parry to work with the bracers ?
imho the fireball off the bracers shouldn't depend on anything (wrestling anat/eval,) it should just stack while casting. THAT would be useful.

Chiv dexers have many ways to heal and have 4/6... really ? ! ? ! They can cast without mage weapons in hand and on the run. BRING BACK 4/6 for mages ! but i digress

yes, honestly, i dont understand the criticism. In so many situations i tried to build a suit with FCR on other items than jewelry. Most of the time you have to use inquisitors... The new sleeves are much better than inquisitors. The true beauty lies in 3 FCR and high MR. Very nice combo. Who cares for Hit Fireball. I dont do PvP and for PvM you will find some templates that benefit from the sleeves. I am really happy to have some - and sold my stats-scrolls as they are not THAT useful for PVM...

To me the Inquisitor Resolution is a little better or equivalent to the Bracers till the day they will make the fireball more useful in a template specially with a shield at least, lets compare:

    Inquisitor : 50 total resist
    Bracers : 42 total resist
    (Inquisitor +1)
    next
    Inquisitor : 8% lmc
    Bracers : 4 MR
(Id say equal on this, but I still prefer 8% lmc since theres a hard cap and its NEEDED to all template to have 40%, MR has diminushing results over 18 and its so easy to get 18 now with reforging so having 8% on gloves leaves place for something else on another piece )

Conclusion, they just created another version of Inquisitor but as Bracers, thats it. I dont see where you can say Bracers are MUCH better than Inquisitor please explain

I like how the resist are on the bracers much more balanced than on the inquisitors. I think for a mage energy is especially easy[easiest for me] to get and I've never had a shortage on cold. So bracers are more appealing. So better resists spread out, 4 mr, to me lmc is easier than ever to get so..

Also they don't cost a lot, so another plus for the bracers. They have a chance of fireball going off under the right circumstance so they win again. In conclusion they are better than inquisitors resolution.
