Ok, So I took a straight paladin template and made a gargoyle

    120 Swords
    120 Tactics
    120 Resist
    120 Parry
    105 Chiv

    135 dex (currently)

    And currently raising Throwing .

Now I know there is a hci/dci penalty with throwing while holding a shield, but after a hit is calculated then the chance to parry is checked. Every hit I have taken, none was parried. Parry works fine with the shield and a sword, but with a throwing weapon it seems less useful than a shield without parry or one with bushido.

    Can someone confirm?

I have heard rumors of this as well, that it is impossible to parry a blow with a throwing weapon equipped.

I played around throwing, shields, parry and bushido. I tried just parry, sheild, throwing weapon and had no luck, then I tried just holding a throwing weapon and bushido and parry and still didn't see it parry.

Well I sent in a Bug report. Hopefully someone will read it and I hope they fix it.

Yeah, I am certain it is something to do with Throwing. Years ago I found a bug with weapon parry. At the time weapons couldn't block arrows. This wasn't much of an issue till they tweaked archers and made them viable. It was really felt at the release of SA. Samurais couldn't block arrows at the time and Mr Tact fixed it at the release of ML.

Ive tried aswell and cant make throwing and parry actually....parry...so the code must be screwed or something.

You can not parry with ranged weapons. Since throwers can equip shields unlike archers, they receive the HC/DCI penalty which can be offset by investing skill in parry.

    Will look into this issue.

Well in essence you would be parrying with a shield. But that whole formula makes no sense.

If Parry does not work with throwing, why equip a shield, or invest in Parry whatsoever?

So if you wish to go 4/6 casting on a gargoyle you have to rule out using a shield because it is counter productive in the first place.

If you invest in a skill, well dang it better work. That is like buying a car without an engine and fuel tank.

We all know about the penalty, but for the reason of parrying with a shield not working we have no explanation. Either it is a bug, a omitted game mechanic (no one addressed it) or it is a feature and to which we would like to know why. I don't think that is asking to much.

Yes Lefty has a point and if I understood it right, to me its like buying a car, and I invest alot of skill in using the car so I wont crash it etc, but the engine will not work for me regardless.

So there I am, in the drivers seat, I know how to drive it like a champ, but I cant make it go forward.....well thats how I see it metaphoricly speaking.
