Want to add magic resist to my rp-pvp swordsman. Would you keep chivalry or bushido and why?

Depends on your faster casting / recovery and if you have parry as well.

I would say it depends a lot on how practiced you are with each. Chiv can be awsome with the FC/FCR if you can use it. Bushido can be useful with the stances. Its kind of a toss up as I don't view either as all that impressive in pvp but for me Chiv has the edge as I hate having to constantly rely on pots and the ability to dispel summons.

I am pretty experienced with both. And have all the equipment to make either one effective. I think this char has had bushi and chiv since Samurai Empire came out. I would just like to hear some different points of view before I make my ultimate decision.

In other words. I like them both for this character but one of them has to go.

Well my own personal opinion is that chiv is better for pvp then bush, but that is just my own bias.

Really depends on other skills, but did you give any thought to going 120 bush, 60 parry, 60 chiv?

20% parry chance with 1 handed weapon, all the benefits of bush stances, confidence. And 4/6 chiv heals.

Is that just because of the pot thing?

I did but it seems that you lose out on the benefits of chivalry at only 60.

Oh that and I am taking your advise from another time I asked about this same character and am putting spellweaving on it.

Putting spellweaving on it has really revived the character for me. So now I am debating bushi/weaving or chiv/weaving

parry would be useless without bushido unless you hold a shield, and if you do bushido isnt doing you much good..

    so shield or no shield?

One handed weapon no shield for a long time. The parry chance is the same with bushido/parry 120 no shield as parry 120 w/ shield. Why would you choose one over the other is what I am asking

Maybe I am not a jackanapse for starting it. I started this thread to see why people would choose one over the other and maybe see something different than myself. I chose to go with bushido/spellweaving. Maybe chivalry is a better choice. Why? Or conversely why is Bushido the best choice.

I actually like spellweaving if you don't have any mana issues with it. It has some nice spells that are usefull and it works pvp or pvm. Or it might just be that I think Word of Death is the most fun I have had.

I said I chose bushido in an earlier post. Which there in is my problem. Sitting at work I have been 100% positive I have wanted a chiv/weaver three times and a bushi/weaver three times just this afternoon. I could really use some other points of view before I get home.

    Chiv/Weaving is fun stuff.

Pixies dominate if you can get your opponent dismounted.

Though it isn't full proof. There are so many ways to kill pixies, whirlwind, hit area weapons, conflag pots, supernova pots, wither. Most people aren't smart and don't carry things with hit area to address the problem.

90% of the people you will be able to kill with no problem, the remaining 10% will overcome the obstacle.

Bushido is great in PvP for 3 reasons. Nerve strike allows you to get burst damage. Confidence allows you to heal on the run. Evasion allows you to survive amazing odds.

I have a mystic/ninja mage that I keep 60 weaving on for pixies. Maybe do the 120 bush and 60 parry 60 weaving route? Would be a fun build if nothing else.

Plus - attunement is the bomb with a level 6, you get dismounted? Pop attunement and evade, and you will survive.

I apologize if I am not getting it. But I don't see specifically where you mention having chivalry and weaving together.

Having bushido and weaving sounds great to me. Also having chivalry and weaving sounds great to me. I have had bushido and chivalry on this character since samurai empire came out. So that is getting kinda old to me and I want to work in some magic resist.

In addition I have tinkered with both bushido/weaving and chivalry/weaving and I still change my mind every half hour

Again my apologies if I am not seeing things.

Not to speak for Lynk but I think he means that either would work. I like chiv weaving because I can have good damage the whole way along. For Bushido the largest amount of damage comes after you hit protection which is towards the end. Chiv front loads the damage because with weaving you will get your crazy insane damage at the end from WOD so I would prefer chiv weaving but they both work well. Of course with chiv you get huge benefits at 80 as opposed to bushido so you do have more points to put in the weaving which really help.

This really helps. I wasn't thinking of using word of death on the back end.

Oh you have too. Nothing has ever brought a smile to my face then seeing the insane amounts of damage caused by Word of Death.

Your going to love seeing that huge burst of damage. The max I have ever done on it is 403. Imagine seeing that come up on your screen.

I totally forgot to mention Wildfire that can really help in spawning situations. I find it to be a really useful addition as it can really help you swing through the lower tier spawn which I find my archers to be a bit slower on then other temps.

As I am doing my math and planning out a new template I find it is still tough to fit resist in. Is 4/6 casting chivalry, trapped boxes, and cursed apples (even after the timer change) a decent substitute for resist?
